| I have worked in Wakefield for 23 years in the motor trade, there are some very good garages and some really bad ones tbh.
I would stick with the person you already have a relationship with as mutual trust is important, if you must change then Waldorf has a good rep DW Autos in Horbury is a mate of mine very good and one of you lot to boot, A+I near the Cedar court( not cheap thou) and in Ossett Ian Anderson is good.
Cant tell you who i work for though as you will come a beat me up

I'd presume the idea will be for them to build a new customer base. I'm not sure what else they do, services etc? They would be hoping for repeat customers when then next MOT is due.
They'll also get a sponsor spot for cheap with WTW

The last time i checked the MOT slot fee was about £2.05 so 300 test will only cost £600 ish plus the testers wage say £9 per test £2700 so a total layout of £3300.
work on an average return per test of £350 ( and thats doing legit tests ) £105,000 minus £3300
Turnover of about £101700 and a small garage should have an absorbsion of about 65% profit.
So 65% would leave around £65000 profit, good buisiness if you ask me

| Those 300 passed so no work needed so no average return per test of £350.The loss from the test fee for overheads etc needs to be made up thats good trading.Always beware of something for nothing might be a good deal but then again might not.Happy to keep going where I do as found him very good.Been out of the trade for .. no not going to give my age away lets just say Im an oldie.

So even at that £3300 for the marketing and association with WTWC and the new customers and the name MOT City now known, still a bargain as that wouldnt buy you much space in the YEP for very long.
But as I said I would keep my current relationship intact as trust counts for a lot.

| Quote ="bren2k"Sometimes, you've just got to trust people; the difficulty with this scenario, and any form of citizen journalism, is that it's unregulated and subject to whim, dishonesty or the foibles of the citizen involved.
For example, Suspicious Simon takes his crappy old banger to MOT City, worrying about all the episodes of Rogue Traders he's watched and fully expecting the mechanic to diagnose lots of problems that don't exist; Mike the Mechanic duly carries out the MOT on Simon's old banger, fails it and presents him with the customary list of reasons it's failed, with an estimate for the requisite repair work to be carried out.
Simon huffs and puffs in disbelief and runs to the forum to let us all know that MOT City are a bunch of crooks, failing to mention that his car is a 1976 Vauxhall Chevette, with more filler than body and an engine that leaks more fluids than a chelsea pensioner.
MOT City suffer a downturn in business, their reputation is damaged and meanwhile, Simon creeps off to another garage, has another MOT, gets the same advisories and has all the work done; he fails to post that on this forum.
Just one of the many and varied reasons that I hate the general public. And the internet. And cars.'"
