JD, decent player gave us great service - was rewarded by club and fans - does that mean I have to support him for the rest of his life. Con nice bloke, loves his lad - does that mean we all have to?

The point was simple, not stopping anyone else going it's just not for me because I don't get it. Sorry to have upset his dad and the rest of the groovy gang. Billy Conway starts his new job next week, are we expected to all attend and offer support

You're spot on, it seems to make you far more of one.

While i think its an insular attitude, i kind of agree, there are quite a few people kicking off over paying an extra £75 for season tickets if we don't reach the 2500 figure, and another club is asking us (again) to support them on the back of an old boy!
I wish JD all the best, but have no real care who wins, good luck to both sides.
I know where i will be spending my £100 and my mates £100, this weekend!!

Maybe if players who get some stick on here get their dad's to sign up, they'll get better reviews...

When I am not watching Wakey I like to watch Dewsbury or Shaw Cross. I sometimes go to Batley and Thornhill. I have watched the British Police RLFC, Batley Victoria, Ossett Trinity, my eldest lads school team and even Cas Panthers; I like rugby league and whilst Wakefield are my first love and where the majority of the money and support goes, sometimes I take the opportunity to watch the game elsewhere. When the chance of watching Keighley v Whitehaven for a fiver arose, it seemed a great opportunity to visit a place I have never set foot in before and see a game. The Demetriou connection added spice because I was curious to see how one of our ex players was doing.

It does seem to me that there are people who post on here who are quick to be overly nice to posters like yourself, and it happened in the past to Shane McNally, his son, and even Di Rogerson, to some how make themselves seem like 'friends' or close to people within the club to make them feel more important than they actually are. Basically, they suck up to people.

You can be proud of your son, a fine captain for the club off the field in difficult times and a decent player, my only point is that some players wouldn't get the stick they get on here if they had their relatives posting.

I'm not having a go at your son whatsoever but his time at this club is in the past and we should concentrate more on the next generation who will try lead this club onto better things.

For the record I never met JD or any of his family but I do think he and many other ex players deserve respect. For JD, he is a recent "EX" player so fresh in the mind and a lot of people like to show their support.

Good for the guy who posted on our site to get people interested. His club made some money out of an innovative idea, our club got some publicity by people going to another ground in their shirts, and it might have given an ex player a lift when under the cosh to do a good job in his new role. Everybody benefits.
It's not like anyone has been patronising to those that haven't gone to see JDs team. Just a way that those who do want to go can talk about it.
Nothing at all to do with his parents and family. Lets leave them alone.

Yes JD was well paid by the club but he went about his job with dignity unlike some who have been at the club.He speaks well of his time at the club and good luck to the guy.Keighley have shown some of the lower division clubs how to get a few fans from other clubs to a game when the club they support dont have a game.They offered Wildcats fans the chance to see a game for a fiver and lets face it clubs like them need every penny.If it makes those few fans think yes we had a good day over at the Cougars and the next time Wakey dont have a game we will go over again then thats a bit more of the much needed readies for them.I know in the past if Wakey didnt have a game I have been to a Dewsbury or Hunslet game if I didnt have any plans for that day.
