I don't want the deal, I'd rather keep Murphy for various reason mainly to make a point. However I simply don't hold your almost child like hero worship obsession with him and am thus capable of accepting his limitations and the fact that there are more than adequate replacements out there. You have put Murphy on a pedestal, that is your choice but most of us are a little more realistic. At this point in his career Murphy is no better than Kirmond - he may be one day but you and I don't know, that's why we employ coaches in the hope they do.
Now get over your Murphy crush it's getting scary.

| I remember years ago Leeds offered us a 4 for 2 deal and many people thought that was ridiculous. As I remember it turned out a lot better for us than it did for them. No reason why history can't repeat itself.

This is what I can't understand - unless we are all mistaken, we appear to be ready to swap rather than sell one of our players, when the players we are swapping are likely to be surplus to requirements anyway.

| Murph is a good player - and that's all. If he wants away, let him go - as long the deal is seen as being good for us.
The difference between now and BG (Before Glover) is that we CAN afford to tell them to stuff it if we don't agree with the deal. In the BG days we were under pressure to cash in. It's a simple but significant difference, but it still doesn't mean that we should waste money paying players who really don't want to be here.
He's history - just the announcement to come!

| I really like Murphy but if he wants to go then he wants to go.
The question, like TRB says is: Is the deal appealling to Wakefield overall?
As discussed above it is debatable how good the players are that are being offered so that means it is not good enough. We shouldn't take players that might be ok. We should be taking players that are better than what we have.
Mason or Crabtree would be fine, one of that back line would too, but of course that probably isn't going to happen.
BUT we shouldn't go for squad players either.
Lets have the cash and spend elsewhere if that's the best deal, or better players, or no move....which ever is best for Wakefield, not just the Giants, and not just Murphy

| Although Raleigh is a squad player for the Giants most Giants fans would have him in the 17. Defensively he is a 30 to 40 tackles a game player with a good work ethic.
From what i hear you are effectively getting a 3 players for one swap as most of you would swap Tommy Lee for a water botle.

Totally agree - we need a big prop and a SH; if they're not offering either of those, it should be a cash deal or nothing, regardless of what Smurph wants.

I wouldn't, there is always the risk you could ask for the bottle back in a reverse swap.

| I'd be pushing for
Murphy and Lee for Mason, Kirmond .. That's a prop we need there and Kirmond to interchange.
Would be a good deal for both.

Was thinking about Murphy. He is good but not ripping it up. His strength is defence really.
If we can get a decent deal then so be it.

I think you are seriously over egging Murphy as a player.
For me the biggest issue here is not what we are getting out of it but what are Hudds getting. I can't see where he fits in their plans at all. For us he is a very good player but for them he's an average signing.
The reason I want to keep Murphy is to make a stand. So that when the next really great player like a Gareth Ellis comes along people will think twice. Murphy the player I can take or leave in fact IMO George was a bigger loss.

Most of his career with us he's had to defend, the ability he's shown on the front foot has been quite good, in a better attacking team like we will have next season will prove if he's got what it takes or not.

| Murphys three tries (one of which was against donny) in 22 appearances this season is testament to his lack of attacking spark. Yes we've been on the back foot for a lot of the season but George, Dean, Morton etc all crossed the line more than him. But he is defensively sound, has always given 100% and has improvement in him. IF the deal is right then i'm happy for him to go. But it has to be a good deal FOR US.

| He (Murphy) scored some cracking tries when he played on the wing. Hull KR away springs to mind when he went down the touchline and fended about 3 defenders off.

| i like murphy, but he never will become a world beater. i think he will be a great club player where ever he ends up. but even physical freaks like atkins cant do it at international level, seeing him getting piggy backed down field by kenny-dowell was embarrasing.

These players have been feeding off scraps due to the lack of skill from our half backs, Dean and Morton are not good examples to put up against Murphy. Murphy is far better.

| If Murphy is to go it should be a cash deal only the money can then be banked and when a player the club wants that cash is there.Lets not forget if they buy Murphy they will have to off load some players we can then go back and say WE are interested in.It also lets the club have the chance to look at players from other clubs who could become surplus due to new coaches coming in or for other reasons.

But yet were better in attack than Murphy despite feeding off the same scraps. Murphy averages a try about every six games over his time with us, including times when we had the Broughs, Jeffries and Osbts of this world creating the chances. I like Murph and rate him. But he never has been top drawer, probably never will be and he is replaceable.

| A lot of our outside backs would prob have similar stats over the past couple of seasons. That's where we are at the moment, I think Murphy is a solid player. I'd like to see him stay.
But he's seems to be going the same way as his afro'ed pal
