My memory is not the relegatioon battle but rather is from 95 when we played Cas at the end of the last winter season... we were expecting a merged team to go into Superleague at that time but Cas had already decided to go it alone.... they destroyed what was ostensibly a Trinity junior team.

Remember it well. Victory was nice but the end of that season was a total damp squib.

Not sure it was a junior team you had out though: Steve McGowan, Billy Conway, Nigel Bell, Gary Spencer, Daio Powell, Mark Webster, Adrian Flynn, Mark Sheals all started for Wakey.

Only know that because I watched the dvd a couple of weeks ago.

The difference is that Wakefield relegated Castleford twice because they played better rugby, not like now where a few s decide who gets relegated. Cas fans have nothing to be proud about if we are relegated. Well I say relegated but I don't think that's an appropriate word for the process any more.

Will this be the first time in the top level of any UK sport will have disenfranchised a club that hasn't finished bottom? (or in a relegation place)

I live with the satisfaction that we relegated you twice on the pitch whilst you could only manage it with the help of the RFL and it's franchise book.

As for storming the pitch you are past masters that. Thank god the gay supporters club didn't run a trip to the Bungle that day as you and your six finger friends would have had a field day gay bashing.

After viewing "Boots n All" it seems to think WTWC are just one of many teams that may get the drop. Interesting that Salford weren't mentioned along with Castleford. Salford, apart from the ground, surely are much weaker in the application than yourselves?

I still remember the day we beat Cas 17-0 (I think) in a game which kick started our surge out of the relegation zone. Id just published Issue 1 of my fanzine, and I'll be frank with you, I was friends with many Castleford fans through both the tag games we had with them and through the help I received from the editors of Castlefords fanzine when starting mine up. I met up with them on Wheldon Road and exchanged copies and thanked them for their help. My bright idea was to have a pint in the pub opposite the ground and see if I could sell a few to opposition fans (as Id bought many from other clubs during the years).

I entered with two friends so not to do it alone, and within 20 seconds we were split up and the hostility reminded me of the beginning sketch to the Blade film where the guy gets tossed around and beaten up by vampires. I never got beat up, but I was quickly pushed into a corner and faced some verbal abuse of which exceeded anything that Ive given to anyone in my life (and I'll admit, Ive given some). You could tell that it was going to kick off at some point during the afternoon, so I quickly managed to get out and was relieved when the other two friends exited too in one piece.

After the game, it did kick off but I wont go into it as its not the time or the place to be discussing it again, but it wasnt nice. And just for the record, I sold 206 copies that day, but not one to our fellow neighbours !! (The spoilsports).

Your doing a good job of upsetting the rest of SL you didn't relegate us, we did it ourselves with 2 poor seasons worth of results. You had a hand in it like the rest of the teams, along with the cheating pies.

Hopefully we won't get any trouble if we do how can we class ourselves as a family sport, and that to me is one of the reasons i like our sport it's something we can do as a family feeling safe, lets not go down that route haven't the great unwashed taken over too many things in this country already.

Our great comeback at your place this year. You were taunting us all through the game and then after the game when you guys lost most of you all caused trouble instead of congradulating us. We aint down yet folks !!!

there is one possible that everyone is overlooking (although remote as i beleive we are gone alone)

what will happen if both wakey and cas are "shafted/disenfranchised" etc.

i wonder if the atmosphere will be different?....

Certainly wasn't a strong team as I remember half the first team being stood on the terraces laughing as they had already lined up contracts elsewhere.
It's one of those times that you realise that for the majority of players it's just a job and they will never feel the same way about "our" club as we do as fans.
