New team, new year same old ....

Not good against a huddersfield reserve side!

It's all relative, double the score for the Huddersfield first team and it's sounds about right!

Obst scored the other.
Morrison first just before half time, Obst was a good solo try with Penny in the corner after s good pass from Hyde.
Vievers kicked and wasn't bad.


My take on it was that we are in for a long season but we got better later in the game and played the second half like we wanted to win.
Hendo was probably best forward in my opinion. BJ had some nice touches, Morrison some good touches but not often. Obst was his usual self but not really a dominant scrum half.
Thought Dean looked ok when he had the chance.
Millard was poor playing on the wing.
Penny......weak in defense but tried. We need to give him the ball.
Forwards tried hard but Korki was only true prop and did ok but was puffing and they dominated early in because of lack of front row size.

They are tryers so they could surprise some people but please don't start thinking about top 8.

i was seriously hoping to hear we had played the reserves too!

top 8 ????? well be lucky to be in top 14.

would have expected a comfortable win for wakefield looking at the two teams,very worrying if you pick up a few unjuries.

I agree with you 100%, but i'll be happy to support the efforts of these players if they give this every week, came home concerned but happy.

Although I don't believe Trinity will be pulling up any trees this season, to put it in context a near Huddersfield reserve team pushed St Helen's close in a play off match a few years back.

Anyhow I'm just hoping we still have a team to get hammered this coming season.

If i can just add, the hudds youngsters played very well and thats a credit to the club, the futures bright at Hudds.

Just my luck - about 3 dozen Giants fans turned up, and I get the 2 biggest pillocks in history stood behind me.

The choicest morsel, just after Kirmond had lead with the elbow for the second time "get in wi t'elbow again - brek 'is jaw!". Nice.

Other than that - a disappointing first half performance but a better second half; our pack looks woefully undersized and Penny still hasn't learned to tackle - he's also forgotten how to run forwards, which is a bit of a worry. Sam was busy as ever, but both he and Murph were uncharacteristically butter-fingered. Fergie, Hendo, Johnson and Morrison all put in decent shifts - Millard looked up for it, but was lost on the wing. Jeffries showed flashes, but drifted in and out of the game.

I couldn't get to the game today but it sounds like they wanted to pull the shirt on and give it a go. With our limited resources what more can we ask for?

Tommy Lee was our best player today I thought, controlled the PTB well and was also the best kicker from hand,

The youngsters played much better than there older, more experienced peers.

think they will and think we will need to be to watch it.

Some cracking passes and decent kicks, he could be a very good signing.

We have what we have, its that simple, now these guys seem honest and hard working and wear the shirt with pride, our jobs to turn out and back them, yes its going to be a long hard slog but if they give it all then so should we.

Its often been said that if the players give it all the fans will back them all the way, so lets see if thats true.

I don't want second best and we lack class but its all we have.

Not sure what we have been doing in pre season, we struggled to break through a Giants academy side with a near starting 13, our forwards are very lightweight and will struggle to make an impact against a SL team, not sure if Sam and BJ have been practising at 6 & 7 but there was no set moves or communication, if JK was using this game as a measure to see how far we have come it is going to be a long hard season believe me, we need more forwards and quick. Can I have my £12 back please.

With 3 weeks to go to the regular season I thought we would be in better shape ? And we would have been capable of beating Giants 2nd team, maybe I have more aspirations than the team ? As for the £12...... Say no more

And maybe we are looking at the game in 3 weeks and not a friendly game, we do have a fair amount of new players to settle in.

If we'd won today 27-26 would it really matter, would it help us in 3 weeks time.

the team tried hard today,its gonna be a long slog this season, were clearly short of any class and we could get some real pastings. i suppose if they try its all you can ask. if theyre not good enough theres not alot anyone can do about it. thought vievers did ok. we look short in the pack and our kicking game is awful.
