John Kear, Minus the players we lost through one reason or another, i reckon that with those 3 still on board the season would have been slightly better, don't you.

Alot better but until we learn how to defend and slow sides down we're never going to be able to compete with the top 5/6

What happens if he signs another unpredictable half back with a history of volatile behaviour and well documented financial problems who sods off half way through the season because somebody wafts a load of £20's under his nose? What happens if he doesn't do his homework and pays big bucks for a NRL prop who turns out to be sap and plays the homesick card and we let him go for frig all to possibly the richest club in the world? What happens if he signs an unhinged controversial hooker who has a history of doing stupid things and disciplinary problems getting suspensions who breaks the laws stupidly and gets banned?

Who's fault will that be?

Of course he knew Newton was taking the hormone and he knew Danny was going "bust". Troncs stats matched the best in SL during the time he stayed positive, maybe he felt let down by the club not delivering what they promised or we can just blame Kear if you like.

Maybe not - but its his fault what we are left with are playing clueless pee poor rugby with no heart and passion and its his fault that he has disrupted the club by going for two other jobs. He wanted out, yet half of the fans on here still back him to the hilt, yet question the loyalty of fans who have had enough and said they aren't going anymore - you couldn't make it up.

I question how that helps support the Club and how having no money will help in the long run, how can we sign players with less income.

If you wouldn't take the 2 and a bit seasons we had out of Brough again with another unpredictable half back then you are mad. Tronc was top quality hardly Kear's fault he decided to bugger off and certainly not his fault the club let him walk for nothing. As for Newton yes he is/was a thug but Mystic Meg wouldn't have known he was gonna get caught doing drugs. There are a whole manner of things that Kear has got wrong over his time at the club but the above was clearly beyond his control.

The poor performances that Kears team have been turning in is what is driving people away, the answer is say bye bye to him and thank him for what hes has done in previous seasons (I would like him to do the decent thing and resign before he tarnishes the memory of his previous achievements by clinging onto his job cos the others he went for didn't come off)

I ask you this what if, and I know it's never going to happen, Kear pulled another miracle like he did in 1324 and we won the next 3 games and made the play offs would people still want Kear gone despite being the first coach to take us to the play offs twice?

What you appear to be saying is that JK deserves the praise for the 2 and a bit seasons of Brough, and the fantastic performances of Tronc in the first say 6 weeks are down to JK's astute transfer work,but when things go tits up its nothing to do with him? I'm sorry but in my opinion you can't have it both ways - if your responsible for player recruitment and you take the back slaps when it goes well you also carry the can when your signings go sour.

At the risk of a thread-drift and going over old ground, I thought Kear has overall control on rectuitment (both comings and goings) and is also on the board so surely he is at the very least partly to blame for one (2 if you count Broughy) of our prize assetts going for (next to) nothing?

IMO it would just highlight how poor the bottom half of the league is, if a team who has had 6 or 7 40+ points drubbings can finish in the top 8 - nothing to laud Kear for. Anyway, it ain't gonna happen so its irrelevant

Is it Kears fault we did the same kick off 7 times on the trot on Sunday? The same kick off that we do every single kick off every single week?

Is it Kears fault we have gone into many, many games this year with an unfathonable bench?

Is it Kears fault we seem completely clueless in defense down the flanks and seem to be unable to count up?

Is it Kears fault he wanted to jump ship and go to Catalans and probably Bradford?

Is it Kears fault we dont seem to be able to play second halfs on the rare occasions we get to half time and we are still in the game?

Is it Kears fault we have averaged 50 points conceded in the last 3 games?

Is it Kears fault we have played well twice since Easter?

Is it Kears fault we dont seem to be anywhere near as fit as we should be?

Is it Kears fault we have such dross as Gleeson, Blanch, Korkidas, Millard, Cook, Johnson etc all virtually guaranteed a starting shirt regardless of performance?

Is it Kears fault we that the only play Millard has in his armour is catching the high bomb but we average about 1 kick every 3 games or so for him to compete for?

Still, its much easier to hide behind things like "he cannot see into the future" when it doesn't work but heap the praise on him when it does...... It cuts both ways for me.

I am saying that Kear deserves praise for bringing quality players like Brough and Tronc to the club and deserves praise for keeping Brough pretty much on track for 2 seasons. If Kear was responsible for Brough leaving then yes that was a massive mistake but I wasn't aware that it was his decision. I thought the club were more forced into it by Brough refusing to sign a new contract. How much say does Kear have at board level?

Fair enough but even if he does go we'll find ourselves here again as we have with every coach in recent history. There is no miracle man out there who will make us top 8 material year on year on our budget. And don't give me the boring rugby stuff we've seen much worse over the years when fighting relegation and it was the fight that made it interesting not the rugby. Here's to Broadbent taking over and being sacked by May!

I honestly don't know how much sway he has although it seems a widespread view he has just about total control, maybe some of the more informed posters can enlighten us mear mortals..... I am more than happy to accept this is not the case if somebody knows for sure.

I can respect the viewpoint that he stays by default becuase there are no other options (even though I don't personally agree with it), but the view I cannot respect and have trouble accepting is the old "its not his fault" line and the "if it wasn't for him we wouldn't be here".
