How do you suggest he gets experience then? By your logic we would still be employing the same refs from the inception of Rugby League.

At some points Referees, just like players and coaches have to gain experience. It's a learning curve which will serve to better him and therefore us as rugby fans in the long term.

I have watched Childs for many years from the juniors upwards to academy and division 1 (or championship if you like) and i don't think he's up to it, but we'll see and i'll leave him alone on sunday.

The choices and responses go like this:
Bentham: inept and blows up for invisible offences
Smith: doesn't like us. Always biased
Ganson: whistle-happy muppet.
Halibut: hopeless
Thaler: may go against us to avoid question of bias

I guess you clearly missed last season? where Ganson single handedly tried to hand wakefield the result on a plate. His face at the end when Leeds got the last minute try was an absolute picture.

Leeds nearly lost that match because for 67 minutes they were not very good. Then, as they applied pressure in the last in the last 10 minutes, Wakefield fell apart.

You would have to be really really really biased to believe that.

Leeds were not very good, I will give you that, but the last 13 minutes were no different in preformance to the first 67. The difference was Ganson thought he had done enough by that point, and relaxed, and Leeds got the win. He was diabolically one sided throughtout that first 67 minutes.

wasn't that the game when leeds got a penalty for offside with 3 minutes to go when the wakefield player wasn't within 5 yards of the leeds player, made no attempt to tackle and the leeds player knocked on ? yes i remeber it well, totally biased refereeing !

If he was 5 yards away wouldnt the player be offside

Nearly everyone thinks a ref is bad when watching their own team if/when certain decisions go against them.

I think you'll do OK with Child.He's not upto it (yet) I agree but he seems to be involved in upsets so it depends on whether you think Wakey beating Leeds at home is an upset or whether given you're top of the league that Leeds winning away is an upset

The radio presenter and his summarizer who was a RL player (I've no idea who) were threatened by some Wakefield fans during the game because of the referees performance, it was on radio Leeds news the day after and some podcasts of it were on the net.
