| As one of the rep's said regarding the public enquiry "why would the council back the site by the gift of the land and then not push for it not to be called in for public enquiry, there would be no logic to that at all"
To which someone behind me muttered "screams of Wakie Met"
If nothing else every politician in offices knows how little job security they have and will be looking to cash in on as many "vote-quick schemes" over the coming months as possible. This project is a nailed on vote winner. And something i thing old Boxy & Co. should be building their re-election around. this scheme will create jobs, boost the economic well being of the city and become the crowning jewel in the regeneration of Wakefield. Not to mention save professional sport within the traditional boundaries of our city.
With the support demonstrated through the petition and the superb designs and planning that has gone into this scheme already i see no reason it will be called in.
The final design with the corners filled in would be one of the best rugby league stadiums in the country! I like the look of Saint's new ground but The Wakefield Community Stadium is something very special!!
Well done Yorkcourt.

| Quote ="Sandal Wild Cat"If all goes well in the next month and the project isn't called in for a public enquiry, then i think we could be ready to submit for detailed pp by Late April. It's clear with the level of sophistication put into the designs that Yorkcourt intend to have all potential questions ironed out BEFORE it's submitted which will help reduce the risk of this being called to London.
By Late April BOTH us and Cas will be ready to submit for detailed planning permission, which is almost perfect from the point of view of the council, who could potentially announce 2 stadiums on the same day.
If that we're the case it will all come down to funding, which has always been a question mark for Cas. Something we we're told today was in the bag for J30! Happy days!!!!'"
if york court can fore fill the drawings to full what we have seen today then I will more than pleased, the four corners could be added later date at more cost as we all know but lets get the foundations layed what is needed first is the acceptance to dig first
I would like to know if there was any protest ?

=#8000FFGo on then, I'll bite, in pure Rugby terms alone why should Cas be worried? finished 7th, have one of the best academies, a team with quite a few local players and play the best brand of attacking Rugby in the league - all with only 6 overseas players.
If the criteria was all business & on the field related none of this stadium rubbish, Cas & Wakey would be safe, comfortably whereas Salford would be gone straight away.

12000 Without the corners, no idea how many extra the corners would give us. maybe 300 in each corner.

15K if/when corners are filled in. There is even scope to increase capacity further as there is about 7m between the last row of seats and the roof on the touchline stands. This could be done without changing the roof structure.

Thanks, i did wonder how many each corner would hold but never got around to asking.
750 per corner, you would presume thats standing and not seats.

| 7000 seats are more than enough.
As if there are 7000 seats at Bradford, KR, or even Leeds (and shedingly is grade A).
The design i would imagine would be grade A. The HJ has standing down 1 side, where as we have seating so i would imagine that we will have a higher seating to standing ratio.
Just been looking at the timescale it took wire to build, they had to go to a public enquiry, however it was only a matter of months and not the couple of years i was fearing.
To the best of my knowledge there we're no protesters, they were concerns, however some of the moaners were only there to do that. I can't see anyone standing in the way of Sir Rodney, it's not just who you are but also who you know.

If by filling in the corners we would rise from 13000 to 15000 each corner would hold 500.

As one of the Yorkcourt guys explained it to me phase one is to build four independent stands with a view to 'fill in the corners',he made no secret of the fact that the community trust were in negotiations to have the corners filled in at phase one, much easier to do than adding on later.

| What has impressed me most is that this is far more than a stadium. If you read all about all the other related facilities that are going on this site this will be a fantastic sports complex for the whole district. This will be the greatest thing that has happened to Wakefield in my liftetime in respect of the massive benefits that it will offer the wider community. If Box and his mafia put a stop to this it will be criminal.

Nope initial plans are for 12 then fill corners to 15 but as already mentioned the community trust are negotiating and trying to find the funds to fill it in from the off.
Can I just take this opportunity to praise York-Court Properties for the undoubted professionalism yesterday and by the looks of it from the time they started as it looks like every detail has been looked at and just by them been in charge and involved I am very very confident.
They have left no stone unturned

3500 Seated, times 2 stands = 7000 2.500 standing, times two stands = 5000
7000 + 5000 = 12000.
4 corners at 750 = 3000.
12000 + 3000 = 15000 hth.

| i dont know if this question has been asked already or not (if it has i do apologise) but is the wakefield stadium dependant on all the new warehouse and office units that are proposed for the site or not, as after talking to a mate of mine who lives in the area it seems that the local residents are happy for the stadium to go ahead but they are in no way happy about the other proposed units and it seems that wheels could be in motion to atempt to block some or all of these units, so as i said would this have any bearing on the ground.
