| The other factors to consider are injuries, suspensions, lack of form etc. I bet your 6 plus 4 don't play together as stated in more than 10 matches and there lies the risk of relying too much on quality over quantity - we will still need good quality 'back up' which Snitch, Wilkes etc would have provided. We need to bring in squad players who will be able to do the job in the first team and not be too reliant upon the youngsters.

| Maybe i am one light on the bench - but if so why pay more money to have someone like snitch as a bench player, when people are saying hes an 80min engine room workhorse,

| is this worrying - i must admit it shocked me ...
Top Metre Maker
Matt Blaymire, outside back 2479
Steve Snitch, back row 2337
Oliver Wilkes, back row 2210
Most Carries
Matt Blaymire, outside back 379
Steve Snitch, back row 346
Oliver Wilkes, back row 305
suppose this back up the engine room loss......

I think wether you start or come on from the bench that has no relevence to your value to the team, its not as if we are playing in the park and the subs are lads we have dragged out of the tap hole, chippy or bookies. I know its a cliche but it really is a 17 man game these days and the bench can really change a game with its impact.
That said though, I take your point about Snitch coming off the bench - he doesnt have the impact desired he is more of a grafter as you say so him starting would have been my ideal line up. For what its worth, here it is:
8 Tronc
9 Newton
10 Stosic
11 Morrison
12 Moore
13 Ferguson
S Korkidas
S Obst
S Demetriou
S New Prop to replace Wilkes

| am i being old fashioned in thinking that the props do the hard work, the second row consist of one glory boy wide runner, and one workhorse tackler and a creative ball handling loose forward... err yes maybe i am - its 2009/10 not 1978/79 my first season lets move on,
From My Early Years & Poss future
1979 2009/10
John Burke ------ Shane Tronc
Alan Mcurrie ------- Terry Newton
Trevor Skerrett ----- James Stosic
Graham Idle ------ Glenn Morrison
Twinny (either) ------ Dale Ferguson
Bill Ashurst ------ Jason Demetriou
and for gods sake before anyone comments this is not a comparison.
because i would have had Mike Lapmkowski at loose or Paul Mcdermott
and Bill Ashurst as the ball handling 2nd row.

Twenty years ahead of his time was Mac. He'd be a sensation if he was playing now.

| It seems to me that Kear is accumulating Salary Cap by getting rid of expensive players like Atkins, to enable him to keep his key man, Danny Brough. It is rumoured that they are in talks with Danny regarding an extention to his contract which teminates next year. Whilst I appreciate the undoubted talent of DB he will be demanding a very high salary. It looks as though JK is counting on the talent of the youngsters coming through and he is a good coach so he will have spotted the talent there, and they do not count under the salary cap, but the good fotune of the Wildcats this year has been the options they have had at half back. Now that Drew has gone and Grix, they will not have the strength in depth that they have been used to. Drew and Brough in the same team gives a coach so many options, then there is Obst and Latu. No doubt JK has a plan, but will hanging onto DB at any cost be a good plan.

Yes, centres/back-rowers/props/utility men are all fairly easily replaced - a top class scrum-half, less so.

A top class scrum-half benefits greatly by having a top class stand-off to work with - this is an area we need to address urgently if we are to continue our wonderful progress into the elite SL teams.

If true somebody has absolutely no idea of value for money in my opinion. Crazy for a mediocre (if very commited) forward with a 1 dimensional game.

Whats the salary cap, £1.5m or something close? Say thats split over 20 senior players, thats £75k each 'senior' player if the club spend it all (not sure if they do or not). Does the cost of the flat/car count on the cap? Its safe to presume it does in my opinion. So, loosly guessing his package might be:
Wage £95k
Rental Well over £1k per month I would guess, maybe split 2 ways = £5k + cost of car. Total package is going to be well over £100k.
Can't see the likes of Luke Dorn, Danny Orr, Rob Purdham and LMS earning less than 'agerage' and this would leave very little split between the rest of the squad something doesnt add up. Either they have massivly overestimated his worth and their wage structure is all over the place or this reported figure is a long way off.

I agree it does not seem to add up, just got told that they offered him "silly money" and he could not turn it down, how its done i don't know but its a big move to live in London and the car and flat would come as a standard part of the deal.
