| Quote ="underground"I watched the game on Sunday here in Australia (knowing the final score but not the story of the game!)
I thought...
Atkins had a pretty good game... he troubled Senior and vice verse... I was really dissapointed with Petersen he shoed a lot odf effort but looked short on confidence, and his positioning in defence was poor. JD did ok at stand off but his attempted tackle on Senior at the end was woeful...
Bibey, Stocic and korkidas were all excellent... but Steve Snitch has moved up several levels...
the positive is that we almost put away a full strength Leeds outfit, with a display of speed, strength and skill...
as I have said many times against Leeds.... they were lucky'"
If you look at the JD tackle at the end the first man in should have been Atkins. He just stood there and watched senior and gave him too much space. JD had to come in from 2 previous tackles to try to get o senior.
maybe he did miss that tackle but he should have only been the 2nd man in helping out Atkins.
Agree with most that Atkins is a bit of a poser and shirks a lot of the hard work

| I think all this anti-Atkins stuff has snowballed a little bit.
Granted, he had a mediocre game against Leeds but he was playing on the wrong side and he was up against a very inform Keith Senior.
Maybe everybody else knows something I don't, maybe everybody else has highlighted another centre who is better than Ryan Atkins. Whoever he is my hope is available and I hope we have the money to sign him.
For my money, Ryan Atkins is an extremely good centre who has some amazing attributes which balance off some deficiencies but overall he is a danger to the opposition.
I don't expect Atkins to get worse as he matures on the contrary he will only get better. The deficiencies I speak of are the exact areas of his game where experience and maturity will make all the difference.
I have no doubt that many of the so-called top clubs would jump at the chance of signing Ryan Atkins, there are many envious coaches who covert his service. It is great credit to Ryan that he shows such loyalty to Wakefield Trinity when I am sure there are whispers in his ear from agents, opposition players and so-called friends who would tempt him away from Wakefield.
I have no doubt about his loyalty, I have no doubt about his commitment to Wakefield and I have no doubt that he tries his best every time he takes the field. I'm sure he realises there are games where he needs to be more involved and I'm sure he and the coaching staff work very hard on how we might achieve that.
My last word on this is be careful what you wish for and give the lad a break.
