I get mad when people bag players for no real reason, swings and roundabouts...

Grix actually did very well fending off hodgsons attempted tackles just got unlucky with the bounce from his well placed kick and poor pass inside that went to ground, I believe if Brough had left it Latu may have had a better chance of picking the ball up but can't blame Brough for going for it its just a natural instinct.

I wasn't criticising Grix he just plays where he's picked. More meant that I think Peterson would have had the pace to make it to the line.

| Don't think hes bagging the players to be honest. He's got a point, today we didn't have any real pace on the pitch, but it didn't cost us the game like he says, that was our goal line defence at the play the ball.

It's more his general posting I think people are referring to. I agree very sloppy to concede 3 very soft tries.

We need it up the middle though look at all the best teams St helens and Leeds pace in abbudance. Much as I like Blaymire he needs to support a bit more through the middle. Look at Webb look at Greenshields look at Hodgson they all give options to a player who has broke the line.

| Gotta agree with the topic headline - we just dont have enough pace in the three quarters this season and overall are playing as individuals... We made 3/4 line breaks down the right hand side but Gleeson nor Grix had enough pace to finish of the moves or support each others breaks... Had the chances been created down the left hand side with Atkins and Peterson we may have taken them HOWEVER a big problem down that side is Atkins seems to hold onto the ball too much and tho is a massive presence in the side hasnt developed the art of centre play yet in the art of Senior and Gidley... Peterson is lacking confidence but showed a much improved performance against Shudds... He came in looking for work and seemed to have a turn of pace when in space but he rarly gets the opportunity to do so out wide - Atkins and Peterson now need to work on that partnership...

For a Wakey full back Matty offers quite a lot going forward and I reckon he's got a few tries to his name this season. I very much doubt we could attract a better full back than Matty as the likes of those you mention will command very high wages.

| Quote ="newgroundb4cas"I did not think we played that bad today. Yes Rooney is on loan but I think he would have backed up today and probably scored 2 from our breakaways in the second half. One thing about Jamie he is a terrific support player but thats it. Blaymie steady a good full back very steady but hes no Greenshields and he would have been up supporting on those 2 breakaways. I just thought we lost on speed today nothing else we need a bit of speed injection into our team. In our team who could go the length of the pitch???? Brough at a push. Grix certainly can't and Petersen who did not play bad today he can't. Halley would have won us that game today as he would have been up with play sprinting is ass off he would have scored and no Shudds player would have been in 2 yards of him. We need some speed !!!!!'"
I have said on many occasions this season we lack pace in the backs but first you need to back up and support the man with the ball an area that we have failed in for as many years as I have watched Trinity
Rooney is not the answer to this and never was

| I would’ve thought the reason for the loss was marker defence on the line, 18 points given away in total. You can have all the pace in the world but if you don’t defend your line it’s futile.
Leeds, in particular Lauitiiti, Peacok and Leuluai, will be watching with great interest over the course of the week.

you just answered your own question, if you look at the saints, leeds teams when on song stream through most defensive lines through backing each other up,
the pace is there its just how it is applied, they didn't find the space on sunday, if you go back to the hull home game they have Broughton and Raynor, now they aren't slow are they but we rack up a decent score through backing up in attack but mostly the defensive line not get breached like yesterday.
our problem is the the defensive line being broken when out of position, fix that and the rest will come, at the beginning of the season we could hold teams to a low score and at least score 20 plus points, it puzzles me to how they aren't using the methods they started the season with
two of the huddersfield tries were debatable and one of ours, so take that into consideration there was nothing between the two teams

Totally agree with that. What would you do swap Atkins for Gleeson, so peto can get some good passes off Gleeson?

Not a bad idea, i'd like to see Peterson get more of the ball out wide, but what happens when Blanch gets back?

Lol - of course i meant, if we swopped Gleeson and Atkins, to try and get a little more balance and Peto a bit more of the ball, then when Blanch came in would we reswap the centres again and have Glees back inside Blanch?

It should be a good partnership really shouldnt it ?? But for whatever reason there not getting a lot of ball and we tend to attack down our right hand side... Maybe they just need a bit more time together on the park - there were signs of improvement in there partnership last week against Shudds but if this was to carry on then we need to give Peterson more ball which could mean moving him to the left (which we generally tend to attack) and swop Grix and Peterson... On the Blanch topic, its a no brainer that we are missing him dearly but hes not available... Id like to see Murphy giving then chance now on the right and play Grix in the middle of the park possibly at Stand Off again as Martin is one dimentional with his kicking game - id like to see him back to the centres to be honest...
