exactly. and we currently lie in 6th having won more games than we have lost. do you really have higher expectations than this for a club in our position?

we haven't only beaten teams in poor form at all this season. we have played some great rugby. for a long time crippled with injuries and still got results. we are lying in 6th place and looking at a play off spot. for a club under the financial restraint we have, kear is doing a great job on and off the field and with the youth .. thought the boys did ok today but there again that is only my opinion.

You are wrong on so many levels it beggars belief.

We have one of the lowest budgets in SL; have adapted our game to the style of players we can afford and have got to 6th in the table, having won 2 of the last 3 and having lost to a side in 3rd place on their own turf. It's called getting beaten by the better side on the day - and I aim this at RL supporters everywhere - learn to deal with it, rather than finding someone to blame for it!

The amount of booing heard at SL matches this past couple of weeks is ridiculous. At the Cas game last week it could be heard all the way through the game. Today, despite a tight, tough contest, some just want to come on here and find someone to blame. I have done it at times, but today we were just like Andy Murray on Friday - good, but not good enough on the day.

Sure JK and co want us to execute better, but we need better players to do that - but respect to them out there today, they gave us a chance at leats and, with a bit better luck, we could have won.

We'd all like to see us play better and win more - but the competition just seem to get in the way!

Somehow, with our crappy little team and our rubbish tactics we've scraped our way to 6th place and have one of the highest points for in the league. How did we do that if we've got it all wrong?

answer. YES

this season more than ever, we could have a chance of doing better. this year is more of a level playing field

lying 6th can change easily. next week, or the week after, we could be 9th and out of the play of places. 2 hard games coming up and we could be further out of contention
BUT. we can play better and could have played better. today was a game for winning and if we had played better it would have been ours. realistically i can see us winning 2 , at the most 3 of our remaining games if we play as we are doing. good teams do the basics well. we arent doing them. if we were then would come the statement about winning more than we would lose. i dont want JK to go but i want him to change things and improve things. the things i mentioned in my big post dont cost money, but they change games. some players were anonymous today, others chose wrong options played badly, but i dont know what our game plan was other than down the middle and on a big pitch like that it was the wrong option.


with regards to TRB coments not looking to blame anybody, just think things need changing. just look at huddersfield. a team of other peoples cast offs largely yet they are punching better than us. as i have said before, its not about money. take a team of average players, playing their hearts out, doing the basics and the simple things right and they will win games.

thats the coaches job and we are not seeing that.

i was under the impression shudds spend the full cap? in my book that makes it all about money. its no good saying we should do this and that, that is obvious, its not as simple in practice to achieve it

But the problem is, apart from Brad Drew and Tony Martin, ALL of our players are someone else's cast-offs, or else they are players who have been brought up a division.

Grix / Blanch / Ollie - all left cold by Widnes.
Blaymire and Hendo plucked from lower league sides.
Ryan - no opportunities at Bradford.
Broughy - avoided dropping a division.
I could go further.

Only Brad Drew, who even then was in dispute with Hudds, has been signed in the face of strong competition. The rest were pretty much given no chance - and yet we lie 6th??? That's just crazy - and some people need a reality check when they think that these 'dirty dozen' type of lads can suddenly command a top 8 place at the expense of the likes of Wire / Wigan / Bradford etc.

Maybe, maybe next year we can be a little bit more demanding about the performances of the side - maybe!

When did Shudds sign him ?

This is not any kind of reason for losing, but just to highlight to Shep the difference between us and say a team like Hudds.

At the end of the day, you just have to look at the sort of money that Hudds have been able to throw at the playing squad over the past few years - compared with ourselves. The likes of DeVere, Elford and Skandalis - all would command too much of a salary for us to fork out for.

Also got a magnificent stadium already in the town for them to use - etc.

Think with the resources we have had to play with, the fact that we are still even in SL is an impressive achievement and the fact that now we regularly compete for playoff spots is even more so.

Thought we went ok today to be honest, not good or great, but we put in the effort and were beaten by the more clinical side.

Agreed, we have about the 2nd or 3rd lowest spenditure in the league and are currently 6th, so if we are working out who has performed the best out of everyone in SL based on resources then imo we have won. Why is this so? The answer must lie with kear, beans and the players.

Kear has every year improved our side, and with a little bit of trimming down the sides (players who wont play) and cutting off the mature side (old players on big whacks, rooney/drew etc) whilst getting a strong core of players who are good consistently then hopefully we can improve again.

Look at wire (albeit improving), hull, bradford, catalans and wigan teams we more or less thought were going to be above us arent, so some credit has to go to the players and the club.

The credit, will imo only be suffice if we can finish in the top 8, if we dont then we will have lost a big chance to get somewhere in the comp, gain some cudos in terms of franchising points.

Next year hull have signed some top players, im sure bradford will improve, catalans, wigan and wire will sign some aussies as and may sign young myler kid, and the teams around us kr, hudds, quins, cas will also look to improve and if we can work some magic push on abit then maybe just maybe we might be able to keep up with the other sides, and this is why a new ground is crucial increased revenue would allow us to spend hopefully the whole cap which in our case might be circa £500k now think where we could push on too.

Were over exceeding expectations, realistic ambitions and although we and I would like to get higher in the table, I do have to think about the aforementioned points and take in and understand we are fortunate to be where we are, at this moment in time.

Stop talking sense man - it just won't do! We should be top of the table and never lose a game - only then will some be happy (and even then possibly not)

I accept that at 10-12 where Grix kicked through the bonce of the ball turned out to be a 12 point game breaking incident. Had it bounced (or Crabtree not pushed Obst) our way we might have won.

However having said that we were on top for only one quarter of the game. In the other three quarters we played some dumb and poorly organised rugby. For example on at least three occasions there was no clarity about the kick play.

Giants should have been out of sight by half time - Kear must have been delighted at the break to go in only 8 down after such a terrible half.

However I put it down to a poor day in a great (judged by Trinity standards) season. In my 30 years as a fan I don't think we have ever won more than we have lost (in top flight) at such an advanced stage in the season.

One last thing - I had the misfortune to have the gobbiest, most vulgar woman come and sit behind me and my family yesterday. Within 5 minutes she was on her feet abusing the referee at the top of her shrill and piercing voice. when I asked her to hold off with the garbage she was shouting in my 4 year olds ear she defended her right to shout whatever she wanted.

Never mind how her rights spoil my and my familys experience - I have no objection to chearing on the team - I love a sing song with the best of em - but having to put up with offensive garbage so that she can excercise her rights was - grrrrrrrrrrr.

There I feel better now (and before you start - yes I did move).

Our aim should be
- to improve over the whole season compared to last: We have done that.
- get into the play offs: we are there at the moment and have winnable games before end of season.

There will be panic on the forum if we lose to Leeds and Saints but there are plenty of other games to bring us back up before end of season.

I'm generally happy with season so far, and will enjoy rest of season too, especially if we have play off football to watch. Much as I'd like to see it, we are not going to go through a whole season undefeated, why panic when we lose a game, just aim for the next one. We are winning more than we are losing. That's ok by me.
