Spot ON
This is the what the Rfl or whoever have to try and combat in some way thing of something to get the fans into the stadium to help create a carnival atmosphere.
The only down side for me is that Murrayfield is a fair bit out of Edinburgh & the pubs are raking it in with £3.50 a pint
What happen to this sports village thing where was it did it work
At least again it give the RFL something to look at and finally get it right for next year where the Atkinson family will be deffidently be there

My issue is mainly the change in focus of what is what there for, originally it was for promotion of rl and over the weekend the focus became just how good it had been as an economic stimulus, so in essence we played 7 random games to stimulate scotlands economy?
and 10 million is a lot of cash, over 3 years its easily a purpose built rl stadium for the game as a whole, location, well you can argue that one for ever and a day.'" for me its a celebration of our game, fans can mix together have a few beers and enjoy the day or weekend, i dont give a e if we pumped money into scotlands economy its a nice place, if fans like you went then we would be promoting the game. attend and then give a view you might be surprised and enjoy it

| Quote ="Catnap"I couldn't afford to go Al, too much expense even at £35 on top of spending every week throughout the season to watch us, although I tried to watch it on telly and I have to say that the standard on show was very poor made worse by the lack of atmosphere that came over, I even found it difficult to get excited about our game, in fact I'm ashamed to say that I found the Cardiff v Leicester game more compelling, I would have been greatly disappointed had I spent money to go up there to watch having seen the lack of quality on show.
I've noticed somewhere on here, someone compared the MM weekend to the G/F and how long it took for that to build up to what it is, I think the point that they're missing is that at the time the only other expensive away day or weekend was for the CC final, now the MM weekend has got far too much to compete with in our own sport never mind everything else that families can find to do on a B/H. Can't see how they can possibly make this any bigger than it already is when they are depending solely on existing fans to support it.
BTW, I take it from the 27 text messages that the pork pies went down alright
'"
Hey mate i'm not critising anyone for not going because of lack of funds, i'm not going to Catalans because i simply can't afford it mate. Just seems the beer monsters want it both ways.
I thought you may appreciate our txts

ok mops!
Im saying, as a sport, ewe need money now, perhaps more than ever, and I think the figures spent on this one event are astronomical, and its coming out of real fans pockets and not back in to rl, except for the ideal of publicising the game, which Im not even sure it does, certainly not 10 million quids worth!
Smoe posters justify it as an invesment in our sports future, well ok next year dont go and donate 166 quid each to local rl and or wtrlfc!!
thats say 1000 of our fans at 166 quid each = 166,000

If you want to spend £166 on a weekend away and watch rugby - what is wrong with that? No-one at the RFL is forcing a gun to your head to go! Let the people choose, and if they want to support an event, they will and they'll no doubt enjoy it.

Have you sent a letter to Richard Lewis detailing your concerns on this event?

Does anyone know what the clubs get out of this, one poster suggested that the SL had been paid to take this event up to chillyjockoland, based on ticket sales alone, wouldn't have though it would have been that much.
Also based on our disastrous world cup and the subsequant enquiry, too many matches are being played so is this gonna be one to go?

Its difficult to see what your point is here. Where is the difference in spending it in Scotland or Spain assuming that place is in Spain and you stopped there and went up to watch the game. I for one cannot see the point you are trying to make.
Imo you havent come across with one single valid argument as to why this venture by the RFL should cease. The only thing clear to me is that you are totally against the MM weekend for reasons best known to yourself. You should try going sometime you might, not promising anything mind but you might just enjoy yourself. Just one word of warning you will be among a lot of people that are enjoing themselves and it is infectious.

france actually!
and im not a killjoy in any way shape or form, and yes id enjoy the crack if i went, but to be honest i could do that with rugby fans anywhere.
and good luck to those who agree with its concept and mission, i just dont and the debate is good. far better than being a sheep!

It was cracking flags yesterday afternoon got a better tan than from a week in Nigeria!
It is something different and those that go seem to enjoy it have been to them all and will continue to do so as it is generally an enjoyable experience until you get beat! Would like to see the prices for food and drink lowered next time was a huge rip off but then it always is at these sort of events.

Well we paid £5.50 for cold burger and cold chips then £6.50 for a super league pie (best thing by far) chips and gravy so i agree, it was a bit steep. I think the worst thing was the way they did the beer, they must have had 50 pints of bitter ready on the bar when we got there and they all looked rank. Even the lager wasn't the best.
Did get charged £4.50 on the royal mile for a poncey lager in a fancy glass too ut I can't blame the RFL for that.

| Great weekend and great atmosphere in the North Stand with Wakey and Wigan. Beer was slightly expensive but there again the KC was 3.20. All in all i absolutely loved it regardless of our result, the attendance, the price or whatever else.
Great Venue, brilliant city, great pubs

That's great and as a supporter that's exactly how you want it, I think the e that's coming it's way is based on the pr side of things based on the things you have listed, they interviewed kevin ellis on superleague show and he said how great it was for the development of welsh RL (always new there was an agenda) Either robbie Paul or iestyn Harris said something about superleagues next club being from edinburgh!!! Queue harry gratians nervous laugh!!!! Oh yes you know it's gonna happen!!!!!!!
