compared to Jacob, Adam has nowhere near the attitude from what i have seen.
Is Liam Goodaire still at the club? Maybe first year Academy now/last year scholarship, big things expected from him.

True and they are only young and the best of luck to all of them, just when you questioned Jacobs attitude and mention Adam in my opinion Jacob has the better attitude of the 2. Still much can change over the next few years, but what i would say is that Jacob is much more mature than most of his peers.

| One of the problems for Wakey is they have the best players in the district on their scholership scheme but as soon as the they start getting near their 16th birthday's the likes of Leeds, Bradford etc start showing interest and most of the so called elite players from that age group leave to sign elsewhere. Wakey then have to bring in players to make up the numbers and the progression of the good players that are left is slowed down as the standard and environment their in is lower.
With Wakey getting a new ground and better facilties to run a first class academy this trend may shift and Wakey will start pushing to compete with Leeds in winning academy championships and rolling players through to the first team.

Lets hope so, but new facilities are not the be all and end all, we realy need to throw time and money at it and get it sorted The talent drain must stop.

| Your right, Wakeys is not the most organised academy. Once they have the faciltites to coach and develop young players in a professional environment where they are looked after properly then the standard will improve.
Playing in a decent stadium with good training facilities is also a must when attracting young players to the club and being able to compete with Leeds etc and the club should put a lot of effort into the academy when the new stadium is built or else the loss of the best players to other clubs will continue.

That's what calls - even Shudds and Cas' have a pop at our players. So what we have to do is raise funds to try and compete - possibly even give it it's own brand name - maybe John Kear can get involved?
What? It's been done and it's called T-R-Y (Trinity's Rising Youth) Squadbuilder?????? Well flippin' 'eck - why didn't we think of that????
If these guys are that good - then why are so many people prepared to si back and allow them to leave - then just moan about it? I know times are tough - but there's plenty that could afford the fiver a month that was asked for!
We won't keep them all - but it would be nice to give John a fighting chance with them!

It will be a big boost if its run properly, no longer seeing lads dissapear down the road and a big boost for the area in general.

| The money needs to be put into the coaching and facilities as signing on a 16 year old doesnt cost that much.
Leeds pay peanuts to young players but the reason they go their is because they have great facilities, are in a professional environment and if they dont make it at Leeds they have a good chance of making it somewhere else.
Ok you are always going to lose one or two but if Wakey put some real effort into running it properly then players from other districts will be attracted into playing for the club from a young age.
I like the sound of a sports science faciltity at the new stadium what Wakey college will use.

| I think all that have been mentioned have the potential to make it but certainly Anakin and George are front runners. It does not help when youngsters get turned away and they go to Cas. 6 youngsters from stanley rangers turned up at Wakey and we let them down we were totally un prepared fot there visitt and they went to Cas instead. We need to treat the youth with respect. Future of the Club.

Stop talking such utter rubbish.
It is as ever nowhere near as simple as you love to make out. For heavens sake just look at the fact for once. Bigger club, bigger budget, better facilities etc etc. We don't let players down we simply can't afford them, do you actually think w want to lose them!
Simple question, are you in squadbuilder?
I guess not.
So stop moaning and pay up or shut up and stop expecting people like Ted Richardson to bankroll your fantasies. When th club has facilities it needs and the population of Wakefield actually turn up in numbers then we will sign and keep the best.

Vasty sadly there is much truth in what he says. I can understand some of the lads going to Leeds, but to invest 3 years training lads through the Scholarship, for example Adam Milner, Danny Ansell and 3 other lads whose name escape me and convert non of them to the Academy losing 4 to Cas and 1 to Hudds is worrying. They are in no stronger position realistically than Trinity. I can understand losing 2 or 3, but losing all 5 graduates of the Wakefield Scholarship is a worrying trend.

| Just out of interest, how many members do we currently have in Squadbuilder?
I signed up last year at one of the "Audience With" nights, but I got the impression then that the take up was not as good as hoped.
Squadbuilder is one way that we can really help the club and I can't understand (personal finances permitting) why more supporters don't join!

Answer the question, do you pay into Squadbuilder!
How on earth is Wakey a bigger club than Cas, come off it.
You may post out of love how noble of you all the same. You just moan for effect as far as I can see, takes all sorts i suppose.

It was said in jest Vasty, clearly even you cold relate it to the post on the Wigan board you made.
There is some truth in it to a certain extent though but it is more to do regards scouting players and recruiting them to the Scholarship System and looking down all avenues that other clubs would not consider such as Union, where they fall down is converting those efforts at times, and selling the club.
Many people have diffenernt views on Pete Riding, but one thing he could do was sell a club to a young player, think losing him has harmed Trinity in that respect.

Thanks for joining when we had our big push last year. Around 25 more people did sign up then. Sadly due to the economic downturn soe people have had to drop out and I fully understand their reasons ( being one of the casualties of the downturn myself). We have had a members draw for a wine and dine for 4 people for most games this season.....this weeks winner is Steve Hanson and other winners this season have included Mick Carr and Charles Dey. I do try and write a piece for the programme every week but openly admit we should maybe make more of this in the Wakey Express etc. We do help with the signing of young players where we can recent ones being Adam Slater, Tom Harrington & George Griffin. Thanks for all who support us.

Yes I got it.
Yes there is some truth in what you say - but let's be fair here in the last three years Trinity have converted from a virtual Aussie outfit to mainly British and had franchise and stadium issues to deal with. If we have failings in our Academy set up I think it's understandable. We can only do so much in three tears. I know it's now a major priority to sort, and priorities has been the issue for us.
It's all to easy for some moaners to snipe but as the saying goes we have come a long way baby.
Wigan have had nine of our problems yet still continue to get it wrong. In their case they sign them then don't seem to know what to do with them. We don't sign many but at least seem to get those we do through the system.
