Yeah Mike Lampkowski, the only scrum-half I ever saw who could run through prop forwards. The man was phenominally strong and would have progressed into being one of Trinity's great loose-forwards if his career hadn't been cut short by injury.

It such a pity that the advances in knee surgery came too late to prolong the careers of some great Wakey players like Lampkowski and Ashurst.

there are quite alot of players mentioned i would like to bring back, ray price as brilliant, gareth ellis was sorely missed wen he left, wllie poaching was great for us , nigel bell n billy conway will always be remebered fondly by me, but the great wally lewis is the one that ot me hooked to rugby league andwakefield trinity as they were, his bulet pass to his brother scott took my breathe away n i was hooked!! n what he produced in ten games for us was magical even the sending off i remember n laugh at now with the wildman lindsay gill

I was at primary school when I saw Lewis and TBH remember little of it. I think based on the weaknesses of our squad, it would be a pcak man - one from Price (R), Solo, Pochin or Fritz.

Just for fun though I would love to see a young Nigel Wright (Yorkshire Cup final vintage) playing outside of Broughy. If you would indulge me enough to pair Atkins with a young Alan Hunte in the centres I'd be most obliged also

Nigel Wright and Danny Brough would be a halfback pairing to match just about any you could mention.

So much creativity it would tear holes in anyones defence.

the player i would have back in this moden era would be Mike Lampowski at lose forward

I could count a number of really great players from legends like Neil Fox and Toppo (never saw Wally Lewis play for us), but I'm going to go for Trevor Skerrett. A real powerhouse prop forward. The number of times he blasted holes through the defence must have given his team mates a massive lift, and really got the crowd going. Great fun to watch, great player. Come back Trev!

He was also in my thoughts, never took a backward step. Ray Price used to say when you left the pitch you should be totally out on you having run your blood to water, and Glancy always looked like he could not walk another yard without collapsing as he came off, Probably in my top 10 players of all time, a real unsung hero.

A true work horse, never took a backward step and very rarely missed a tackle. Never saw him have a bad game. Think I only ever saw him pass the ball once and we scored off it! His name should be used in the dictionary to describe the word grafter

thoughts on wally was that he was 3 steps in front of the opposition, but unfortunately at least 5 steps in front of his team mates!!

Thats true in many ways

Without the likes of Alan Burns and Scott Lewis in the team much of what Wally did would not have been effective.
