As much as Toppo was, and always will be one of my fave Trinity players, he clearly forgot that Trinity in the greatest period in our history were very much a buying club. Even the team that he starred in himself in the '79 cup final was very much a bought team.

We don't need to dwell too much on what happened after that, but I reckon we've moved on a fair bit, certainly in the last 2 years. If the news from Carlton cricket club that Chris Annakin has signed is true, maybe a number of the concerns that have been voiced on this thread can be put to bed? I agree with Tommy about a lot of the stuff he wrote, but like Bren says, those kind of signings are hopefully a thing of the past.

Great player and coach but we need to look forward not back and continue to build a team keeping hold of local talent such as Annakin.

We can see that our most successful teams were a blend of home grown and brought in talent.

Tiny Tauti looks like hes half cut. Hope hes better than our usual mid season signing rubbish. At least hes eager to play I suppose.

According to the BBC website (Rugby League) Tauti was about to put pen to paper for Cas but the move was put on hold untill the appointed a new coach by which time Agar moved in and signed him for wakefield, should be an interesting encounter for him against Cas on saturday.

According to Sky Sports News app on my phone, TT signed for us after his deal to sign for Cas "collapsed" - I'd not heard that before.
Anyone else read/heard that or is it just bunkum??

Lee Smith has been playing good so far this season, he has been played out of position abit but he did the job.. Sykes is injured do you really watch the game the rest of us do? or do you just like to point out the negativity?

I see newgroundb4cas still hasn't learned anything. Last few games has shown that we miss Sykes.

I do go to the games and Sykes has shown me 0 this year. We really missed him against Catalan. I am not negative Dean Collis for me is one of the best centres in the competition!
