| Quote ="alegend"Very underwhelming the names of the hookers been mentioned to replace Randell. Think some fans are underestimating the amount of work he did on the pitch.Ok he was injured but that was down to the staff as much as him. We need a Quality number nine .Leeds, Cas, St ,Wires , Wigan ,H K R. Hull, with signings for halfback for next year have left us behind at 6 and 7 and we need a quality 9 to make up for this'"
I’m intrigued. Randell needed a operation after injuring himself during the Boxing Day game at home, and then needed a shoulder reconstruction after tearing his ac joint in a tackle. How’s that down to the staff?

Got to admit that had me scratching my head,
Also no doubt teams like Wigan who've gained Hastings, Wire have got Widdop and Austin, Saints have got the same combo but there's a few others I'm not so convinced about. Cas bringing in Richardson who seems to have not developed since his great start at saints, he's also a massive liability in defense, could work with the two youngsters, then again playing two inexperienced lads is a huge risk imo. Leeds have thrown a load of cash at a dude who's practically not played in 2 years, even taking into account Gales qualities, that's a massive gamble for them. Who's Hull KR signed for them to have 'left us behind at 6 and 7' .
No doubt a quality Hooker is essential , he's the guy that gets His hands on the ball the most and makes the calls where the attack is going, or if a scout is on etc, they always have to play with their heads up, looking for any weakness in the opposition defensive line to then exploit, they're just so massively influential on the game.

| He was injured in Boxing Day 2017 and did his shoulder in feb 2019. That’s a hell of a stretch to connect injuries?

| In fact, having just looked, he missed the first games of 2018 having been injured on Boxing Day 2017, and then only missed 1 more game that season. First game of 2019, tears an ac joint and misses 12 games then plays 15 of the last 18. I’m still missing how that’s the staffs fault?

| Think i must have watched a different tyler randell to some others on here his tackling was ok going forward was ok but his 5th tackle plays and passing were woeful and that used to slow our attack down a lot watch were a quality hooker like roby passes ball 99 times out of 100 its straight into the running forwards arms at right height so they can continue attack and im sorry randell didnt i wouldnt mind us taking a punt on lunt though hes been very unlucky with injury and think he would have something to prove

| I actually thought Randell was carrying his shoulder injury during the back end of 2018, and then aggravated it at London. At the time in thought it strange why it wasn't operated on at the end of the season. If that wasn't the case then that would explain it.
Personally, think we may have missed a trick with Parcell, but could be out of our budget

I don’t think Randall in the end was value for money. Mainly due to injury which wasn’t his fault. Had he been fit and played more games then who knows, but it’s speculative at best.
Look at it this way, had it not been for a truly sunning debut he’s not done much, he’s been ok but ok isn’t what you look for on a quota player.
If you compare him to say Tupou or big Dave both of whom have had injuries then you get a better picture. Fifita in particular after a poor start was at times winning games on his own whilst Bill was wowing consistently!
Randell didn’t need to be that good but imo he rarely got close bar the Salford game. Truth is we could have signed a British player even one from the Championship and got similar or better and possibly cheaper.
Like PP Randell was a signing who had his moments but never really paid off. Luckily we don’t have too many of those.
Arona, Miller, Fifita, Tupou, Tanganoa have all paid off big time, they are all better in there own ways than any British players available to us. With two spots left let’s not rush, apart from hooker we are not that short of players, I don’t see the point on dragging a player halfway around the world unless one he’s already a star, or two, has the potential to be one.
We seem to do better with the latter.

| Only takes to lose a few key players in most teams and it makes life really tough to compete whether that be through injuries or moving on, and even harder to fill their spot .
Personally thought a fit Randall was an asset to our club ,not a show boater but a real grafter and now a vacant spot that needs filling

1) how can you say he isn't value for money without know what he cost? Nor for that matter what value he was off the field.
2) surely the coaching staff believe every player we sign has potential. You don't sign some you think is going to be crap.

| I am sure Trinity will get in a quality experienced 9 that will complement Kyle Wood for next season.
Lunt has been a quality 9 for a long time but there has to be a question over whether physically he could perform to SL standard for another season (KR and Leeds can't have thought so)...

Neither of those comments replicate what I said. You really do have an issue with anyone who doesn’t follow your view of anything Trinity.
1: NRL players especially ones with a family don’t come cheap, why would anyone think they would, be serious please. He may have been cheap compared to some other NRL imports but he won’t have come over here for a pittance.
2: I never said he was crap that’s just a lame attempt to put words in my mouth. Doesn’t do you any credit. He is a good player but that doesn’t automatically make him a good player for us. I personally don’t think he’ll be missed all that much, mainly because I think he can be replaced.
For various reasons I don’t think as a quota player he was VFM due as I clearly stated to injuries that I clearly stated were not his fault.
I don’t mind debating with you but your knee jerk reactions to what are fair comments on my part are truly tedious.
You think he was a top signing that’s fine, I’m not convinced, live with it I do.

| Maybe we should give Josh Wood a chance to prove himself, as I think he has a point to prove by being pushed out by Lussick and Tomkins.

Could be just a rumour...he's not be signed yet has he?
Josh seems to be the same style of 9 as Kyle ...small nippy player who benefits from a quick play the ball...

Did I not read your first post correctly?
I'm sorry if I misunderstood but I don't really see why you have a problem with someone asking for clarification on your post.

| Sorry. Your point is well made.
To get back on track, I think the 9 is vital for a team to perform.
We can cover the tackling with Crowther and Ashurst but the most important part of the role for me is the quality of the pass and pass selection.
All the champion sides have it. Roby's tackling is always talked about but his pass is what makes the team tick.
And that's what we need to give our back line time on the ball.
