Not at all, but you bring them through slowly and let them benefit from the experience and leadership of older heads such as JD, Glenn Morrison, Newton etc. With the clubs set-up as it is it will be much easier to bring these players through playing with the calibre of players in the squad, Brough, Tronc, Millard etc. Rather than a few years ago when we were the whipping boys and they would be lambs to the slaughter.

The INs outweigh the OUTs in terms of numbers, however we will have 10 players in the squad next year who I would not be happy with us being reliant upon them for more than the odd game. ie the above named academy 7 plus George (if indeed we re-sign him), Cain S and Murphy. It is good to see them 'coming through' but I just feel that they are not ready for a full assualt on 1st team rugby. I feel that we need to bolster the squad with players that are ready for the 1st team, it is OK having better quality players but I feel it is a risky strategy if we don't have the size of squad when injuries hit ala Hull KR away early this season (when we had a bigger 1st team squad).

Would sooner have Raleigh, anyone know his situation?

Hands off!! Still has another year to go. when he's played he has been one of our best and most consistant, however he's had a couple of long injuries (compound dislocation of finger as seen on sky and he hurt his knee, again on sky... i see a pattern emerging)
Id expect us to and would like us to get him on a long deal like Eorl before teams come sniffing... although i am reliably informed they have already started....

Fair enough, he'll have some stiff competiition next year in the second row.

Biggest mystery of the lot, I`m pretty sure he`s got another year left on his contract. I don`t think he`s a quota player as he is "American", does this make him non Fed-trained?

My initial worry is that after our extremely powerfull looking pack and bench we are very thin on the ground in the way of back up - particularly in the prop department. I wonder if we are trying to mould Latu for the back row and beef Moore back up to his former figthing weight more suitable for the front row using Hendo and Frank as cover for the 2nd 2?

Any suggestions?

Just think that he is better suited away from the front row if they plan on keeping him the same size for next year - he comes accross as a little lightweight for the front row to me. I understand that this reduction in weight was due to his unfortunate health problems last off season, but is the plan to bulk him back up the what he was the year before? If it's not, I think he would be much more effective in the backrow rather than the front row for us. I am very much of the opinion that you need out and out props rather than 2nd rowers who can cover the front row - look at 2 years ago when we had 3 'type' of forwards Catic/Dunc/Elima/ often having to play prop when much more suied to the back row.

Agree about Hendo and haven't seen enough of Frank to comment. No cause for concern at the moment, as you say there could be some to come - and if we have some luck with injuries it wont be an issue cos its potentially the best pack we have had for years and years, its just a bit of a risky proposition given our ropey record on that front for the last 2 years.
