What I don’t understand is, why now?

What can the club possibly gain from his sale, yes we may get a bit of cash, or even a player that no longer figures in Shudds plans, big wow.

Maybe if we made him stay to the end of the season, he would spit his dummy out, I don’t know, but, if that wasn’t the case, I would rather him see out his contract. With the squad we’ve got, plus the possible addition of Cooke, we would have the best team, we’ve had for many a year, certainly in the S.L era.

I wouldn’t care where he went next season, let the possible suitors battle it out for him, but don’t ruin this season for a quick buck.

I have every faith PB, The point I was making was to Wadski and some of his mates. The thing is they are all well versed in the art of selective misquoting and you can bet your money that according to them they will have had the best deal.

A lot of these transfers are arranged months in advance.Now,only 6 games into the season,Wakefield are negotiating on at least one coming in and one going out when the rumour of Danny going has been on the go for an age.

It is all very unsettling and the quicker this is sorted the better.
The actions of Huddersfield are even more bizarre - reading the Hudds.forum Luke Robinson was aware of Danny being signed before he accepted a 2 yrs.contract.This could have been done a few weeks earlier and they run the risk of unsettling their successful side.

Even though the rumours are really strong and have to be taken seriously, I really can't see the move working for anyone but DB.
Giants really don't need him, given the players they have already contracted and Wakefield would find t very hard to replace him, no matter how much money was paid.

Good to see the club state they have done everything possible to keep Danny Brough but they're not prepared to be held to ransom. Also clear that they will not be bullied by Huddersfield and will only a deal that is going to benefit us

I can't see how the hell losing your best player and not replacing him is going to not effect your competiveness and potential.

Indeed. I'm happy we are not going above our best valuation, but really disappointed we couldn't get a deal going with him.
Hope we get a good deal but not sure about player exchanges.

Unless they are giving us a top player (who is not heading "alledgedly" for a stretch somewhere) we might as well get the cash and shop around.

Crabtree, Lunt and £100,000 is my first negotiation point. If they didn't like that I'm prepared to add Wild instead of Lunt.

Simple, no point having a player on board who doesn't want to play for you. Even with the most grounded of players that is hugely disruptive, in the case of a big personality like Brough it could be a disaster. Players are people and once you are compromised as in any job it's over. It was just about plausible to believe Ellis would have played his contract out but not Brough. He's far too abrasive to do that, just think you are a player, you have committed to the club for two years and you get a volley of abuse from a player who's already got a massive contract sorted elsewhere - nah.

Broughy been a great player and I thank him for that and wish him well but he is now damaged goods for us.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Personally I was in the 'retain him for this season and lose him for nothing in November' camp' as I think Trinity without Brough would be poorer team for it.

However, if I learned nothing other since Kear has been in charge is to trust his instincts as more often then not he has got the wheeling and dealing right. Whatever the recompense is it will be in the best interests of Wakefield.

If a player is unhappy and wants out, as BIGAL overheard Brough saying, there is little reason to keep him no matter how good they are. By offloading an unhappy player, it is in the best interests of the club and could indeed improve the team and potential through harmonising the squad. A team is greater than the sum of it’s parts.

Wanted him to stay, but if he doesn't want to then let him go. I think it is a positive move to let him go. The team is more important than the individual.

Cooke will be fine all be it a different kind o0ff player but if king kear can wave his magic wand i think we are gonna get the very best out off Cooke.

Wait and see what happens. Its been stated that whatever happens will be in the best interest of Wakefield Trinity and I for one believe that will be the case.

I know its not like me but stop all this talk of "doom and gloom" - we will come out of this stronger.

Whilst I do agree with what you are saying regarding the game against Hull KR, that is just one game. I do think we are a poorer team for losing him, I hope he can be replaced with another specialist 7.

Of course we are poorer in the short term, but the reality is that Brough is no good to us if not committed. so yes we will need to compensate and players step forward but far from shafted. We have never been a one man team but it will take time to adjust.

It appears as if Danny has been playing us off against against Huddersfield regarding offers for a good while.

Nobody seems to have mentioned that Hudds are not allowed to offer him anything till the deadline in June/July (or whenever it is, can't quite remenber) unless we give them permission - which we obviously didn't seeing as we were doing our very best to persuade him to sign a new contract.

Could this be why we are in a strong negotiating position ... ?

Thats what I think and I also think we should get money/player(s) for an asset before it depriciates to nothing.

Whilst losing a great talent I feel like he is a bad influence. How he treated Morton on friday was a disgrace the pass was behind him and he turned away shaking his head and muttering to himself. He did this all threw the game and against the Giants. Morton the 1st 4 games he was exceptional he saved us tries and scored some hard ones. Its the lads first proper season in the first team and by no coincidence his form has now dropped and for me its probably because Danny is being a complete idiot with him. As a senior player of the team like Danny is, I think his behaviour the last 2 games is a disgrace he should be patting the lad on his back saying unlucky (help building his confidence) Instead of taking it away! We played better friday without MR BIGTIME on the field ! IF he does not want to sign we have offered him more than any other trin player in history. Fair enough let him go I don't blame Ted only thing is we should have got rid at the start of season and got a replacement. Brough won't be happy at Shudds as Brown won't take the crap that we have. Believe me. Brough = ££££££ bad egg
