Meaning i have seen loads of cas fans acting like idiots on here, when they probably would not act like this if they would be in front of a Wakey fan in the flesh. I have very rarely seen opposite fans act badly to me face to face for years. I have got on very well and talked good rugby to fans from all over the country. It is easy to be 'out there' behind a computer.

No, I just think you need to look at the wider picture. Sure he has crazy moments but he's dangerous in attack and he makes so many metres.

to be fair, i have not read all of this thread, but i do make the following comments....

our defensive pattern is no better -different players, same mistakes, left open out wide too easy
our attack is very disjointed, we don't seem to have any plan
some effort (king and johnson especially), but not wholly as a team.
kicking game non existant

we also knew that chase was the major threat, but did nothing about it

not much change from end of last for me (yet)

Maybe I got caught up in the excitment of yesterdays takeover, but I went into the game optimistic, and was therefore quite horrified by what I saw.

I thought the effort was great, but feel that if a poor Castleford side can do that to us, what will the likes of Wigan and Saints do? I don't blame the referee either, as he was shocking for both sides. I thought we looked drasically short of ideas in attack, and poor defensively, especially out wide. It's obvious to everyone we need a couple of props urgently (but hopefully the club are on with that now we are out of administration) and a scrum half as Obst was out of his depth.

The positives for me were Rinaldi (we're much better side when he's on the pitch), King (looks dangerous but worringly our most creative player) and Johnson (never stopped working and with 2 more props could be stand out second rower). I also think Millard and George could cause some serious damage with more of the ball.

Overall, I'm more worried than I was. It's going to be a long season.

Did youwatch any games in the back end of last season ?

I'm not happy at all with whats on the pitch , but wasn't expecting any more than what I saw this afternoon

but should we accept second best ? the major thing i have noticed since Kear has took over is the amount of penalties as a team we concede...we must be the most penalised team in the league....queue stato

I did expect more, and some of the mistakes and penalties had nothing to do with age or experience.

We are a bit vulnerable at the moment and what happens off the pitch will have more impact over the next month or so.

For a team of players, who wouldn't of known what was happening with the club and their futures etc, i don't want to be too hard on them and will be looking for better performances in the coming weeks.

Point taken & I'm not a kear fan , fed up with this "us against the world" mantra , but that's what we've got , so can't se why you think we'd be any different today .

If Kear would not of taken over we would have been in national league.

Believe it or not, I am actually a Kear fan - I still think he's the best coach we have had in my lifetime! I know we've only signed what we can afford, I just don't think I knew the reality before today.

Undoubtedly, penalties killed the game. He blew for what looked to be nothing (for both sides) and then missed things like offsides that were happening throughout. Taking the whistle out of the equation though I thought we didn't look as bad as I expected. I always thought we wouldn't win today but we are a new, young team with a lot happening behind the scenes!
Today I saw a lot more passion than for most of last season. Players like Johnson, Lee and Rinaldi always seemed around the ball, there were others too that put the effort in. We just need to tidy up our game as we never get an inch, tonight he would have probably blown the whistle if he thought one of ours had bloody farted on the pitch!
Who printed the shirts? Certainly doesn't give a good impression spelling 'Veivers' wrong! Let's just put that one down to the old regime can we?


For those slagging Cas off, I thought they looked quite good at times and I certainly wouldn't mind seeing our next two purchases being Chase and Widders

And he has been well rewarded for his deeds.

He has no desire to be at Wakefield other than to pick up his wages,he would have been at Catalans had Ted allowed it.

JK is and always has been a one trick pony - motivating the underdog.Maybe quite ironic that the squad we have assembled for this season will actually suit his one trick in some peoples opinion.
Not my opinion though,i would love to see the back off him and a young coach with modern coaching techniques brought in.
In the first game of the season JK has once again shown he doesnt even realise its a 17 man game - the selection of Millard on the bench was a waste of an interchange player. More worryingly it shows he doesnt learn,he has repeatedly over the last 2 years wasted bench spots with crazy selections.

I believe this is the last year of his contract and i believe it will be his last contract with a super league club as Head Coach.
