I know it's unlikely but if we got Fages on the return route and bought an actual stand off we wouldn't be so much worse off.

Once in the championship not as easy to get back in superleague just ask one of the clubs that have been knocking on the doors for years and had better stadia than us.

If we are in the championship Newmarket will not happen. The funds earmarked in the 106 agreement will be diverted to other projects that WMDC will prefer.

If it does turn up true then the pressure on Tim Smith to perform for Salford next year will be immense, similar to his stint at Wigan and we all know how that effected his game.

No big deal to me as regarding my already purchased season ticket but it has reduced the likelyhood of me upgrading from Gold to Platinium.

I think id rather lose smith than some of the others, so if we only lose smith then its not as bad as some are making out. Aslong as we keep the pack together whichever half backs we have will create chances. Hope we tried to get fages on a loan deal if we couldn't sign him

I presume if Salford are doing a squad announcement on Thursday, Wakefield wouldn't be able to announce it before then? We'll just have to see if he plays against Shudds, if he does then the 'immediate departure' is obviously wrong so maybe the move is too?

Think the club will have made a statement that he is not for sale by now if untrue.

The 106 agreement has been watered down and all it now demands is the developer has to supply £9M for a stadium.
The general feeling is that this is about only half of what would be required to provide a 12K capacity stadium. The council have always been reluctant throughout the whole process when it has come down to providing finance. I am sure if they realise there is a way out of not getting involved financially they will take it.

If we are not in SL our crowds will be around 2K or less and the need for stadium will not be there. However something has to be built on the site so at best it will be something to hold around 5K similar what Dewsbury have and if there is any money left it will be spent other sports facilities.

This is only my opinion of course but based on that I believe that slipping into the championship will not be an option.

By leaving now the club do not have to pay him his three months wages till end of November. That will have been in the deal and indicates to me just how bad things are.

Tim Smith probably loves our club and is doing us a favour and had no choice due to money problems.

Nowhere near the shock of losing Willie Poching to Leeds when he was at his peak and we had very little strength in depth. Was gutted the night that story came out.
Can't say I was surprised when we lost Nigel Wright to Wigan though.
Gareth Ellis to Leeds was always on the cards that was easy to swallow too.
Mark Graham leaving left us a bit bare but Steve Ella soon stepped up.

Don't really see the loss of Tim Smith as anywhere near as pivotal as the above.

So Salford have already got chase and smith for next year and they are talking about other high profile signings. How much cap have they got? I hope they don't play as individuals and don't 'gel' or the dr will be looking very bad

He was a good player just Tim Smith showed he could offer alot more thus he called the shots.

In the context of this team and our situation I think he's more important. I can only see a mass of negative reaction to this. The fans that have already purchased STs will feel cheated for one, how many of them will honour their monthly payments? I can only see this having a very demoralising effect on the players leaving it an impossible task to getting any kind of decent performance in the next 2 games. Two hammerings in the last 2 games are going to have a massive bearing on the sale of STs.

If we don't lose any other players else I feel we may have a fighting chance next season, History shows we do well in adversity. It's the financial damage that will be done by this sale (the knock on effect).

Nothing from the club as usual, but then again I don't want to hear from Elston because like many other the other fans I don't trust a word he says. The guy has been shown to be a billy liar!
