FWIW i've always stood down the side when visiting Belle Vue and a year hasn't passed by yet without some Wakefield fans deciding to come and 'kick-off' with some of our lot, usually towards the end of the game and certainly by the exits and down the back streets.

We have complained to stewards, the only one we could ever find was by the exit gate on our way out, and when we told him what was going on was met by a shrug of the shoulders as our fans ( and indeed our town through not very pleasant racist language) were abused going out of the ground.

I would personally hate to see BV segregated as an away fan as we've always had some good banter with the Trin lot on the West terrace.

Well GD I think you highlight part of the problem perfectly, the club have chosen to do nothing about the root cause. Furthermore the complete lack of stewards that are prepared to actually "steward" cannot help can it?

FWIW I was involved in an amateur club in Huddersfield in the 1970s for a number of years. Each and every year when we play your lot, I meet my old pals on the west terrace and we chat before the game, at half time, rib each other during the game and then shake hands at the end and say see you next year. I want that to continue.

Last few games I've been ashamed of some Wakey fans in that part of the ground who have been verbally abusive to visiting fans. The sad thing is, it wasn't popped up kids but blokes in their late 20s or 30s who should know better.

All he's done is expose just how ill thought out, poorly communicated and poorly implemented the club's lazy policy is. I don't think he's made himself look anything other than a bit out of his depth.

He came initially to offer what looked to me like a sincere apology for a miscommunication; he was bombarded with ideas and suggestions and took some of them on board, changing the club's position on the fly in response. If he had ignored those suggestions, you'd be condemning him for being intransigent and ignoring supporters.

It was probably a bad idea - this is not the place to seek intelligent, constructive feedback.

All of the things that were suggested could have been foreseen quite easily.

For the record I still view him as intransigent, the needless segregation looks set to continue, simply because the club refuse to tackle root cause.

The old "home" dugout is higher than the "away" one. This wasn't the case until the late 70s/early 80s when it was raised to it's current level. When this happened there was an influx of fans to the west from the east as the view was further restricted.

The main issue with the east side is that the terracing is very very flat, so it's hard to see.

Like I said you can not learn a old dog new tricks, any one that wants to go stand in the Western terrace do so your choice, infact stand where you like you pay for your season tickets and gate money..

Does it really matter whether we segregate now or say in 2/3 years at Newmarket? It's coming whether we like it as fans or not, and most other clubs have introduced it a long time ago (granted, it's easier in some grounds).

The clubs hand has been forced by these incidents, and there will always be a set of supporters who are unhappy. I'm a West Terrace fan, but i also see that the club must act now to stop this problem escalating and the ground to remain safe for all fans to enjoy the game.

Davide, came on here to clarify the situation, apologise and was open to suggestions or solutions. I'm thankful i have a better understanding as to why these measures have been introduced and feel rather sorry for the club who in reality aren't to blame, it's the 'fans', who put them in this position.

I don't accept that we will segregate at Newmarket formally. We will sell season tickets for set seats (and hopefully) a standing area along the touchline. Walk up fans will be able to buy un unreserved seating and gain entry to the standing areas just as they can at Warrington/Hull/Saints where you can get to pretty much every part of the ground on the gate. Key to this is the fact there is no way of identifying definitively without an ID card system of which team people are supporting.

The question in all this is how did the club mange to forget to communicate something as important and diversive as this? I don't buy the Leeds game being cancelled bit at all, it was twice called off on the morning of the game yet there had been no prior mention of full segregation. When exactly was the message going to come?

The time has come for the club to appoint a customer liasion officer to ensure that messages are got out there successfully and feedback taken on board and acted upon. They need to work with the supporters trust and there needs to be a point of contact with the club and a remit to sort issues out.

It pains me to say it but after a promising start the club appears to have slipped back into insular ways, a little like the old regime got chastised for. As i've said before together we are stronger works both ways. The club can't afford to be dividing fans by what in this case is poor management and handling of an issue and then sending poor Davide on here to cop the flack. It need to be proactive not reactive and make sure that the fans are seen as part of the club not just a cash cow.

Ok if the club wish to keep Northstand home fans thats fine, but keep the other two stands mixed

, as for bad fans get in CCTV then if they are caught fighting/being racist ban them, if they swear too much warn them, then if the countinue ban them for a month, if they do it again ban them for two months and double it each time they offend..
