| Quote ="altofts wildcat"From reading the rules it appears to me that residency doesn't matter. It seems that to qualify as a home grown player you must have been trained for at least 3 years up until the age of 21 in Britain so if an Aussie came over at 17 then he would not count as an overseas player.
Henderson doesn't count on the quota because he was at the club before 2006 and i think this is possibly the same for Korky.
I am not sure why Blanch doesn't count on the quota, it may be something to do with him playing for Ireland but i am not sure.'"
korkidas is greek nationality having played for greece (and captained... yes we have an international captain )
blanch is irish due to playing for ireland in the world cup, henderson is scottish due to playing for scotland ( and i think captaining them as brough has realised he isnt scottish now theres no world cup)
im sure millard is some south sea islander nationality due to heritage. same with latu, our three aussies are morrison, jeffries and the other was tronc as far as im aware
obst doesnt count as a quota player because he was at the club before the new quota system was enforced, however, if he was to sign for another club then he would count as a quota player. this is my understanding .... correct me if im wrong though.

I think you are wrong I'm afraid.
Obst is a quota player as he is Australian (doesn't matter how long he has been here).
Millard I believe is quota also.
Korki and Blanch are exempt so you're right there. Hendo I believe is classed as British as he was born in Torquay (I think) but not sure how he fits with non-fed trained.
My understanding for next year is that we have
Morrison (quota)
Jeffries (quota)
Obst (quota)
Millard (quota)
I believe that leaves us with one space but who fills it out of Jesse Joe Parker, Charlie Leaeno, or someone else is anybodys guess at the moment.

There are 5 places next season, ie. 5 including all quota and all non fed trained.
The quota list I agree with you Fordy.
The others are all non fed trained (and playing for a home nation team does not change that. What makes them exept is that they were agreed to be exempt before the new quota system. Henderson went to court to prove it. So it's not a matter of playing becfore this new quota system, you have to have been ruled as exempt under the old rules before the quota system came in.
So if say Korki had a big brother, and came to play....he would be non fed trained, even though Korki is not.

Watched Walton play earlier this season when Batley played Widnes at Mount Pleasant and whilst he was one of Batleys best that day he will take a lot of work to get up to superleague level. Definately a project player, he may come good. Gale? Not sure to be honest. Has got a kicking game I suppose but thats about it. Would have said he was behind Orr, Randall and Dorn in terms of ability in his positions at Harlequins but hes still young enough to improve and english which is handy. If Harlequins are having a firesale though i'd be enquiring about Rob Purdham asap. Not only is he a damn good player he has the kind of attitude we need at the club. And maybe being a bit closer to cumbria might just suit him after recent events.

Wakefield have been after Walton for years, and I hope they have finally got him. Jason will drop the odd ball that he should take, but what he does have that I feel Wakefield miss at times is real natural power in the impact.
I was shocked when he went to Batley always a SL standard player for me and i hope he gets the chance to prove it next year once he gets up to speed.

| If its true, then best of luck to Jason Walton in 2011. He's been a real star for us this season, and he deserves a shot. Whats good about the guy is he always steams on to the ball at pace - no flopping to the floor at first contact or ambling into the tackle.
On the flip side, his handling is often less than special, probably due to the aggression he runs on the the ball with. I'm not sure where Kear plans to play him either ; he's not really big enough for a SL second-rower, or quite fast enough to develop into a centre at that level.
Still, definitely a player worth taking a chance on.

| Are we even applying for a SL licence? Irrespective of the spin that's put on it, these don't look to me like signings that a club with SL aspirations would make.
At this moment in time, I remain uninspired to buy a 2011 season ticket.

That is your perogative - but it won't help anyone. If you understand that, then your are free to make your own choice.
I will definitely be there and I forsee a return of the Trinity spirit in the very near future! Especially so if even our fans are writing our players off before we've seen them in R,W&B.
As much as I'm fed up with this season, I am equally fed up of people who automatically assume every year from now will be the same - it won't!

this seems to be common knowledge now and it seems Kear is targeting player with something to prove. It's a big risk may well pay off again it's a short term policy but if you get the stadium in place and a half decent start to 2011 could be the key to securing a franchise.
Personally I think Penny and Lee will bring something positive to the team. I have always felt Lee could be a quality player but lost his way a little so having something to prove could well be the kick in the backside he heeds to get him back on track.
From what I have seen of Parker personally do not rate him and cannot see what he brings to the table, but who knows he may improve in a full time environment but doubt it will be enough to make any real impact at SL level.

Yeh, lets wipe the slate clean, forget this year and go again! Roll on Feb!!
What we could really do with is the green light from the council for our new home.
When we get it can we all go down with a shovel to speed things up, i will work for free!!

| With respect to uninspiring signings, well the last time I remember feeling that way was in the off season after the 2006 season. I remember making a sarcastic comment that the club appeared to be using the ‘in the event of relegation’ recruitment list rather than the ‘survival’ one.
Fox
Moore
Bibey
Golden
Pryce
March
All did relatively well during the season, the team did better than most people expected, and if the top 8 play off has been in existence in 2007 then they would’ve qualified.
Whilst it may not turn out to be so this time, I’d be foolish to disregard low key new players in the manner that I did before prior to them having even played a game together.
