My game is rugby league and my team is Wakey. I was lucky enough to be around when we were top dogs. We have fallen from grace and much of it is down to us. We were not invited to SL but managed to get in and it has been a fight for survival ever since. Things are now comming together and the stadium should secure our future.

However if we are kicked out next time around then its the end of our club.
Will I follow the game, the answer is NO!

Infact I would sooner follow a team called Wakefield that played rugby union than go an become a Cas or Leeds supporter or the supporter of any other club for that matter. Thats how strong I feel.

It's Wakefield Trinity for me I care about them more than the national side general RL even the wife.

It's not just a Rugby League club it represents our City

I too have followed Trinity for many years, (52) and I too would watch Trin whatever division they were in.
Were the unthinkable happen and the club fold I would watch some other team that I had some sort of affiliation with, in my case Eastmoor, having spent my early years there.
Never would I join the ranks of what I call "Glory Supporters" and switch to the likes of L***s.
Having said that I do believe that We and Cas will share a ground at New market.

I imagine you do whatever you want to, if you are more passionate about the game then you will go elsewhere if your club ceases but my point along with other fans on here was that on a personal level Wakefield is more important than watching any other club and I would sooner watch them in NL1 or go and watch Eastmoor than go and watch any SL team. It would be nice to watch Wakey field aside full of english players but until that happens I am quite happy to see our side made up of overseas players, the only thing that upsets me are the unhelpful negative remarks made on here by some self confessed die hard supporters who are all too quick to pass comments before things can be explained by people who are in full knowledge of the facts hth.

Best thing ever to come out of Wakey / Wakey's proudest moments (aside from the bestowing of the charter by Queen Vic) are Trinity.

Ergo I support Trinity.

Ergo I support RL.

If Wakefield had a soccer team (as opposed to a RL team - not as well as)who had won lots of trophies and played at the highest level (or even a decent level TBH) I would follow soccer. Not because it's a better game, but that is what would be in my blood.

As it is I am a dyed in the wool RL supporter who's club is Trinity and I will do what I can to protect and promote that club. Without Trinity RL would still be a great game (that's what my genetics are programmed to understand), but there would be no passion, no effort and no desire to support any other club.

SL / Championship / Championship 1 - whatever, becuase whilst we have a club to support we have hope that we can, one day, achieve our dreams.



My secondary wish would be to beat the bloody shufflers at something meaningful - and I genuinely believe that the game is heading in the right direction - but it may take some time yet!

i'd agree with that completely. don't give a damn about england and internationals as as long as wakey are ok.

I have been watching Huddersfield since 1977 so not that new. My comment about gateshead was that when i moved to the North east i started following gateshead in SL because the game was important to me and i quite liked the idea of selling the RL gospel in the North East and wanted them to do well. When they were merged with Hull i just went back to following the Giants. I could have still gone to watch Huddersfield rather than gateshead for that one season from a distance but RL is still more important than any club.

If Huddersfield were to go bust i would not turn my back on RL as some on here would suggest i would still follow the game but in a different way.

i would not support another SL team but would still go to big games. When i lived in Huddersfield i used to go to Bradford Leeds games , finals dewsbury vs Batley etc

As for the anti establishment comment. RU is the establishment RL is not. I always like to side with the underdog so for me the game of RL is bigger than any club

So, what if we lose the franchise next time around and drop down the league? Surely those who love the club more than love the game itself would continue to watch and support Trinity in whatever guise / standard / division / league they played in?

I know there would be changes, but I don't think the club would die completely (although I can probably accept we would never see top flight RL again, and possible go into decline like somebody such as Bramley for instance) - so would the love that those posters have declared for Wakefield continue, or would it end as soon as Super League ends for the club?

its a simple as this....i watched us play catalan, and ate through my nails, lived every tackle, and simply cared!

i have never felt a sporting experience like beating cas in the 1 million pound relegation game, and its nothing against cas whose fans that night were superb!

sure i watch other games dewsbury norths!, bit of a soft spot for batley for some reason...and new zealand for some reason, dont know why just have maybe its the underdog thing?

but if trin go bye byes....i wont follow another team, ill do the "take an intrest" thing

The list goes on. If we do get kicked out its the council I will blame most. Course the support should be still there but it would be a crying shame and it would dishearten me and it certainly would make me think is Wakefield as a place worth it anymore ?? Let us keep our bad reputation i wouldnt have any sympathy anymore I would just be angry.

He could have turned out for Serbia, he could have learned the lingo, he could have done whatever to get a passport over the last twelve months or so and he's done jack....
I'm not saying it's all his fault, no hang on I think I am actually!! I'm no advocate for the way our club is run, but I fail to see what theclub have actually done wrong other than try to buck the system along with all the other SL clubs.

TBF Con has explained that this isn't the case and that Stos has been trying. Perhaps he could have tried harder, who knows - apart from him?

I honestly can't see a bloke swanning about doing sweet FA about an issue which could jeopardize his income,and as Con has said the bureaucracy surrounding visa and passport issues is plain for all to see especially of late.
Tick Tock we will have to wait and see.

Apologies if my reply came over all condesending it wasnt intentional, I just assumed from the way you put things in your post that you were a relatively new fan which you obviously are not.

Play 3 games for Serbia. Simples.

But if you've invested 4 or 5k in a trip to USA for you and your family, then it's a tough call!

I don't know all the details - just that there seems like there is more to this!

from what has been reported in the media, which I accept may not be fact or certainly not all the facts! he would have got a passport by playing 3 games for Serbia.
As a man reliant on said passport to secure his income I would have thought it was a fairly quick decision to make, to play those three games!!
As you say time will tell, whether it's him or the beurocrats, what I can say is, as an outsider looking in, the club has very little to answer for and in fairness they have a plan b, which is a slight improvement as we never used to have a plan a before!!!!

Bottomline is:

1 - This is NOT the clubs fault.

2 - The club made it clear to him what he needed to do to activate the 2nd year. Thus far the terms of the said agreement have not been met.

3 - Whether it is or is not his doing re the passport, that unfortunately is not the clubs issue.


If he goes he goes. Be a shame to see him go but it won't be the end of the world. He's no world beater and HIS replaceable.

I'm sure there's other UK based PROP options available.

Let's not panic, I am sure it is all in hand.

Plan B? Some one told me that they saw Paul B and JT buying some new boots last week.

I hope he stays as I think he was our best prop last season and we look a better team when he was on the field than when he wasn't and I would hate to see him playing against us, however I think it now seems unlikely.

He was certainly our best prop last season. However this season Mr Tronc has now joined us. I also heard that Richard Moore is managing his illness really well, he is back up to 16.5 stone, he is in the top three of our players for speed over 40 yds and he can't wait to get stuck in again.


Would be great to kep Stozz but If we can't I still feel we will be OK.
