He would be first choice winger along with Fox in my opinion if he came, off field baggage aside he has some real ability and plays the game right on the edge and gets results becuase of that.

Wether we should sign him for his off field problems is completely another story - but "poor" on field discipline or lack of ability are not reasons in my opinion.

my view is that if were were talented enough to command a first team spot in the lower two thirds of the table then he'd still be at hkr. the truth is that he isn't there, and they took a chance to rid themselves of a wage of a bit part player.

And in this case, they really don't.

For example, how do the stats stack up in terms of being caught on cctv trying to kick a mans face off?

How about the head to head on racially abusive statements on a social networking site?

My gut feeling tells me that Cockayne might come out on top in both those comparisons.

Based on his on field performances i dont think it is in doubt he is good enough for us, but unfortunately due to the number and seriousness of the off field issues he has had, that has to be taken into consideration and does not make it such a straightforward decision. One for the powers that be to decide on but for me he is definately worth a year with a 1 strike and your out rule.

Pretty sure 6 games in he will be a crowd favourite for his commitment alone and all previous concerns will be forgotten. We're a fickle bunch after all.

A point I have not/would not argue with. But we were specifically talking on field ability and discipline, neither of which are a reason not to sign him.

PR wise he would be a disaster and whilst I personally wouldn't be over bothered if we did sign him I can see how many people would take offence and its attention that we dont really need.

What would your actions be if someone who punched his girlfriend then proceeded to knock out your mate in a single punch? Most people would probably act in the manner that Cockayne did (in fact dont answer it...you would probably be at home in your underpants on this website preaching behind your keyboard!)....it happens in most towns on a weekend but this was caught on CCTV and Cockayne vilified in the press because he is an 'easy target' with a surname that the journalists just love! And yes he shouldnt have even been on FB but again do you know what was really said and in what context?...you need to get a grip and do something useful with your life instead of trying to justify how straight and perfect you are and how imperfect others are!!

IMO the guy is no worse than Tevita Leo Latu. Cockayne was found guilty of assaulting a man that was assaulting a woman, whereas Latu assaulted the woman (no excuse ever). Yes Cockayne is also guilty of racist comments but so was Latu against Penny. Different i know but still racist none the less. I say give the guy a chance, if he steps out of line get rid. If not we have a good player for probably not a great deal of money. Agar is big on discipline so i can't see him backing down and allowing him to behave as he has done in the past.

So is he signing or not?

Also look on the bright side if we do sign him we will get a coach full of HKR supporters to come and watch him for all our home games
