That sounds like a good idea.

Agree about the countdown though; that would have been a useful way to get people to feel 'bought in.'
Overall, I believe they'll do it, but I'm disappointed at the way it's been marketed; there didn't seem to be a particularly cohesive strategy and it felt a bit rushed.'"
I get that bit but AG and JE tweeting about possible signings and the like is very tacky, its cheap.

Keep the cabin open and sell some tickets, just a thought.

Clearly sales at the cabin haven't been that good and the club have decided to use the staff in the Ridings on this occasion.

| Nicked this from the casforum. Do you think its something that we could look to offer?
This morning I got my season ticket for Adelaide United soccer team who play in the A- league and they have the following membership category for fans that live too far away to attend games.
2011/12 AUFC Out-of-Reach Membership (For Supporters living in Regional South Australia, Interstate and International Supporters) - $60 (Only eligible for those that live more than 120kms from Adelaide City Centre)
Each member that signs up gets:
* Members keyring
* Members sticker
* Supporters kit (sling bag, car window hanger, glass, pen, stress ball)
* Invitation to Members Only information night with Chairman and Head Coach (for those that are able to travel to the venue)
* Invitation to Members Only Annual General meeting and voting rights
* Exclusive Members Only online access to weekly AUFC information and video streams during the 2011/12 Hyundai A-League season
* Access to Exclusive Members polo shirt and cap
* 10% discount on AUFC merchandise when purchased at AUFC Club Store or AUFC home games
* Priority access to tickets for the 2011/12 final series * E-newsletter subscription
AUFC have an average attendance of around 10,000 and like Cas have had severe financial difficulties in the last couple of years when the main sponsor pulled out as his business was hit by the GFC. But the club had a new Board installed and have looked at new ideas such as this to generate income and increase the supporters base.

From a legal standpoint, as Slugger has suggested, I don't think they have much choice.

If people know about it, it doesn't make people buy anything from it!
Apparently it's been something of a flop. I doubt it does 10 sales a week, never mind on a single afternoon.
We only have so many staff, so it was probably a toss up between the cabin or Ridings.

Very little has been mentioned of these, I see now (after searching!) that Bronze is £10 and Silver is £30. I'm sure I only paid £20 for my Silver this year.

| Called in this afternoon to buy two season tickets and the lad wrote 24 9 11 on the top of the sheet.
I thought great 411 more than needed.
Then he then went on to complete -> 24/9/11
They wouldn't give any numbers but apparently we are close to reaching the target but we just need that final push.

I think YCC do something 'distance based' as part of their membership too.

| I say "apparently" - I hope that the truth of it is rather different and that it has been a success.
As you say, at least people should have seen it and thus created a presence.

In fairness it needed to be an all out push for 2500 and other offers to follow.
Silver was £30 last season so if you did you got a bargain.

as you have pointed out earlier in the thread clubs are trying to find ways of improving income, the was told at the supporters trust meeting by James that the way this offer works is based on a aussie club who has a if I remember right 30K season ticket holders but don't get that in the gate.
it works by being cheaper to allow games that you miss hence the low price that we have this year,
could you imagine the fickle fans that say they care about their local side actually getting on board with the idea. we would have the same as the Bradford Bulls did last season and is going to do the same same this season
The idea is right we just now need to convince the Wakefield public and like what has been echo'ed so many times on hear just get the promotion right we are not that far away

Some of the wakefield public such as me and my partner wanted to order season tickets at start of september when we got paid however couldnt afford to pay £200 for the 2 tickets then part way through the month the cost was allowed to be split between 2 payments but by this time we couldnt afford so now we will just be picking our matches as payday isnt till the first fri in october and we can't sign up for the offer now.
People are on here slagging people off over not buying the option when for some people they simply cant afford.
So instead of watching all the games and spending money in the bar, club shop and on food we will watch maybe 5 or 6 games for the season as we wont have the cash to spend every time we go.
This is a situation that i know is quite a few people I work with are in, they missed the chance at beginning of september due to paying for money on credit cards etc spent over the summer.
They want to sign up but the cut off date means that they cant.
Why not extend the offer by a month allowing more fans to sign up, reach the target and make everyone happy. Surely more people at games buying beers, food etc will make the club more money in the long run!! Just a bit of common sense.
Mind you common sense and wakefield dont always mix well!!

£200 is a lot of money and not everyone can stump up front for the deal, i do feel its been badly done and not thought through but its maybe down to the frantic events that have taken place over the last 6 months.
Nobody should be slagging anyone off over loyalty and finances mate.
I have a feeling if the targets not reached it may be extended and should be to allow fans like you a chance to support the club.

The shop is going to be open on Saturday October the 1st to allow people who get paid at the end of September to get their tickets and split the payment into 2 £50 payments. This means you no longer have an excuse not to get one now.
