| Reading [url=http://www.superleague.co.uk/page.php?id=375this[/url and other information it seems certain Widnes will be accepted into Super League and one club demoted.
I also think it certain that Newmarket wil be constructed, but not for some time.
What needs to happen is for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats to ensure it has more going for it than one other club.
Salford,I think, will remain in Super League.Harlequins have a rock solid benefactor.
The weak link is the club in Wrexham who have possibly lost a good deal of any neutral support the club may have gained at Bridgend. The actions/inactions of the 'people behind them' are not good and they are disliked by the soccer fans and possibly the locals. The youth development of rugby league players is mainly in south Wales.
I do not think the soccer fans would object to any actions which upset the club owners and ends the soccer clubs ties with rugby league.
You could start to garner support at Cardiff,in February, posssibly with Cas and Salford fans also helping, and having followers from other heartlands clubs on your side.
Trying to persuade supporters to boycott attending the Racecourse Ground would certainly hit that club in the pocket and while sending a message to the RFL who appear to waive the rules for some clubs,it would certainly send a message to the 'owners' of the Wrexham club.
To make an omelette you have to break some eggs.
I agree with expansion and would like this country to show an interest in sport but the treatment of the fans in Bridgend, the players,John Dixon, and now Brian Noble,Jon Sharpe etc.and the conduct of the Wrexham club sends out the wrong message.
Don't despair for too long - You have a club to fight for !

but would post office road meet the super league criteria?
i think barnsley is the best option but i reckon your looking at 2 years minimum at oakwell and thats if.
1.the rfl accept your franchise with oakwell has your temporary home.
2.can the club be a viable business while you are at barnsley with expected lower gates and full rent to pay for every home game if you get a franchise.
my money is on the club using oakwell has the franchise bid but if the bid fails and the rfl decide you need to take time out of super league until newmarket is built, then surely the best option to keep the business going would be a groundshare with featherstone or dewsbury which would be far cheaper than oakwell.
at the end of the day you are now at the mercy of the rfl and even a move to oakwell may be a bridge too far with the extra costs and less income.
not here to gloat im just trying to get a fealing of what your next move will be.

I don't say they are perfect, and I have no idea what could have been done that they didn't, but it seems a shame that people just seem to see today's outcome as an opportunity to bash the board. What else could they have done in the last five or six years to have made the situation any different. The issue has not been funding in either case, but political decisions.'"
Sorry Slugger, but the decision re Newmarket is not political. It is purely down to Local and National Planning Policy. EP really had no choice but to call it in - read the letter for the reasons.

| losers and winners?
loser - Wakefield Trinity - the delay will force the club from the city and put the continued franchise of the club in serious jeopardy. without the franchise the future of the club itself must be in doubt.
loser - Wakefield City Council - having to pay for a public enquiry when funds are at an all time low, potentially losing a private enterprise development partner, not being able to meet their legal obligations for sustainable development, losing out on privately funded community sporting facilities, and thousands of jobs
loser - the people of Wakefield - the PI will be funded by tax payers, much needed jobs are put at risk, the extended period where there are no sporting facilities for the youth of Wakefield... possibly indefinate.
loser - Trinity fans and the Rugby League - a state of the art satdium built in parkland and environmentally sustainable, built specifically for Rugby League and fully funded seriously at risk.
loser - the developer - massive investment in time and resource and money potentially wasted in a time of deep recession.
loser - local residents - despite the delay, there will be a development on this site in the forseeable future. There are now chances that this could be a complete intustrial development rather than mixed industry and leisure.
winner.... Widnes RL perhaps? Cas RL perhaps (if they can get their act together)?
winner - Leeds city council - who have asserted their authority over the smaller neighbours
winner - for now - the nimbys - who have a few more months before the bulldozers roll in.

| A move to Fev may be best chance of survival if no SL licence, move to Barnsley is step closer to extinction, do you think Wakefield v Dewsbury will attract neutrals from South Yorkshire?
Even more fed up than i was 10 mins ago.
PS Is it any coincidence that the council have guranteed 2 million pounds worth of land today, seems a bit strange.

| My earliest memory of being a Trinity fan is as a tearful 9 year-old at Wembley in '68.
It is therefore ironic that Leeds should again feature strongly in my sadness for our great club, given that there objection has no doubt had a major influence in this decision (rather than the NIMBY's), which in turn is almost certainly going to bring down the curtain on Trinity as a force in RL.
Forget Widnes - think Rochdale Hornets.

Quite easily cos it doesn't fit their agenda. We can lobby all you want but it won't make a blind bit of difference, they've a plan and they'll stick to it. If it kills wakey off, so be it.

| Don't like being the harbinger of even more doom and gloom as you have had a pretty rough day as it is but I have just been looking on the barnsley fc forum and there fans seem none too pleased with the fact you could be looking for a ground share. Infact after reading the thread, today is the first thing they have heard about it and the brown stuff is hitting the fan big time.

Because Red Hall think we should be happy to be a championship club. Don't worry they also will expect people like you to continue putting in all your time and money for things like squad builder so we can raise funds to develop players so Leeds and the rest can pick off the best.
We are being given life as a feeder club and should be thankfull for that.
Also don't worry about all the hours our club put into the local schools I'm sure Leeds and Cas will happily step in to do that work for us.

I wouldn't be too smug just yet. I would put Halifax's application as stronger than yours, particularly as they have no fines for crowd trouble or homophobia.

| Just to echo sentiments already spoke i am absolutely gutted about the stadium setback for wakefield trinity. The club will move to barnsley and continue in business, albeit for a short time, but i fear that come early 2011 the RFL will finally get rid of us. This, in my opinion, is down to a number of factors including the RFL'S blue sky thinking of a "perfect league" a league decided upon by factors which aren't related to on field matters. But tbh the main people responsible for the clubs demise will be the board of directors that "look after" the club. they have had ten years worth of money to develop Belle Vue, something which is possible when you look at headingley. They should be held reponsible! Sadly i see no way forward, goodbye Trin.

| We all have our opinions on what could have been done better be it management, or ground location or the whole lot, but one thing sticks out like a sore nose in an factory ,is that on this forum some supporters are at best fickle !
Did anyone expect anything else, as a Trin fan we need to keep on! We don’t do anything the easy way we never have so why start moaning now you’re only providing the smiles for those that wish to gloat.
At present we are still in SL we still have a ground and a team to take to the pitch come the new season, I did in the end buy a season ticket along with shirts for the family and will do so as long as its Wakefield Trinity Wildcats !!!!!(Dreadnoughts ) as I have done for a lot of years.
Thanks to those supporters from other clubs who wish us well and mean the best cheers.
As for my opinion on why we got to this point well were to start.
Come on the Trin

We won't be playing NL at Oakwell though. The only way we will be playing at Oakwell (assuming thats Plan B) is if we manage to get a franchise for 2012. If we don't get a franchise we will stay at Belle Vue and either wait and hope for Newmarket and make a bid in 2015 or 2018 or remain a NL/Feeder club at Belle Vue forever.
