| Quote ="bren2k"Only one of those is a fact, and not one that proves any particular point; Ellis did *not* singlehandedly win those games - he played his part.
Here's another fact - despite RA's ineptitude at failing to spot the talent of such a pivotal player, that same player now plies his trade on a part-time basis at Featherstone; two off-seasons have passed, and not one of the big-spending, talent-spotting clubs have picked him up. Go figure.
Criticise away - but don't pin your argument on Andy Ellis; it's just daft.'"
I agree about Ellis, he did not do it by himself, Big Frankie helped him.

| Quote ="REDWHITEANDBLUE"You are right we will and just remind me who were the favourites for the drop pre season, remind me the mire we were in last summer remind me how quick we have had to put a team together on a reduced budget.
Remind me at the end of the season if we stay up or go down. Instead of people bagging all and sundries we should be behind the team win or lose if we are 12th or above this season that will be a remarkable achievement in 12 months of the club.
Sometimes we will get paggered it's a fact live with it, if some of our players were good enough for 'better' teams then they would have been snapped up.'"
Nobody can dispute what you are saying and pre season, pretty much everyone said that they would be very happy with finishing 12th this season and building from there.
However, on the back of comfortable wins against London and Catalan and an excellent 60 minutes against Saints, it was reasonable to expect a performance (if not victory) against a struggling KR team.
Instead, we had some strange selections and a totally inept performance and quite rightly, the fans that pay their hard earned wages at the turnstiles question the merit of some of the players and the guy who picked the team.
We didn't just get beaten last week, we got smashed and this was against a team that, although they have played some of the better teams in the comp, had only managed 1 win all season (against a struggling Bradford).
Our efforts in this game were simply not good enough, regardless of the off season, pre-season or strength of the squad and the supporters deserve better !
Rant over.

But people on here keep saying that this squad is better than last years so surely those pre-season predictions count for nothing now as the expectations are now higher than getting thumped by an average side like Hull KR. Unless the team isn't actually that good after all then yes fair enough.

You'd be wrong to doubt that because that's exactly what happens, the Head Coach will set out what he wants from the Youth Development at his club, he will have a major input on who the coaches are especially at U19 level (do you honestly think we appointed Stuart Dickinson without consulting Richard Agar) and he'll set out his philosophy and convey it to the Head of Youth Development. The head Coach's priorities for the clubs future will also have a bearing on the level of resource available to the youth set up, a selfish coach will drag every last penny and every resource into 1st team matters leaving the youth set up to starve and wither. One of the reasons Drury left was that Agars philosophy wasn't the same as his, they didn't agree and Drury wasn't happy that he couldn't do his own thing and decided to leave.

It maybe a better squad time will tell but as a team they are still not fully settled I am pretty sure next season if we stay up our overseas players will be far better they take time to settle but they are here to play, life is full of ups and downs and team sport is no different I don't think we are that good yet but the signs are there oh and the average Hull K R side that has only lost to the top teams this season and spend to the full cap I think a re-evaluation is needed

| Top teams or not Hull KR are an average side, better than us yes but 40 points better, i don't think so. As for the settling in and gelling well i'm sorry but if you want that to happen quickly, which we need it to, then you don't randomly changwd the side around after some decent performances against a team you think you could get a win against. Major coaching blunder i'm afraid and not for the first time.

Totally agree. What made it worse was that two of the changes were duds! Sykes and Washbrooke are no longer anything more than emergency cover.

I don't think many forget that. It's just that so many of you have worked, and are still working, so hard to get where we are today and it pees people off when not everyone appears to be "helping" you out.

| if agar was sacked who would replace him?
but I must ask why would he be paid off if he is sacked for poor performance?
also lets be honest if we won the next 3 games this thread would be long forgotten about and he would be classed as genius a season is 27 games not 7... But it would be good for Daddycool to give his thoughts on how the season is going so far?

Unquestionably this has been forgotten by some, but equally we should be head and shoulders above Bradford and London both of whom are having there own problems and one of whom has already beaten us on our own patch.
I'm not one for bagging the coach or hanging out players to dry, i try to take a more sensible view that if they are considered good enough for the club we are, then thats how it is until they prove otherwise.
Richard Agar was not universaly popular prior to his appointment and that has gone against him, that was all largely forgotten when we were on the run of 7 of course.
Some of what he does baffles me, but then again lots of things people do baffles me, but at times he does leave himself wide open to criticism and then the run of 7 is completely now forgotten and we are back to where we were.
Personally i think the decision to give him a three year contract was a bad one, because after year one he hadn't taken us up another level, i appreciate finances and other pressures may have influenced that and the decision to give him the extension but now in hind sight it looks questionable at best.
From what i here the players like him and his ability to spot talented players is unquestionable, but i think at times his take on the game in hand or game in progress is bewildering.
Is it rash to say he should go (if we can actually afford to do that)? Yes i think it is, because i can't see a replacement that would be any less of a risk and there is still plenty of the season for him (and the players after HKR) to redeem themselves.
Should we have more points on the board? Yes we should and the coach and players need to shoulder that responsibility.
Might there be a time this season when it is time for a change? Yes i think there could be, but based on where we have come from a comfortable 12th will be fine, anything less comfortable and i think the club need to look closely at the matter.

I don't think many fans, especially those who attended your first meeting, will forget where we were just a few months ago and regardless of some of the things posted on here, there is a debt of gratitude owed to your team, plus the likes of Snowie and his gang and Sue etc, etc, but you, perhaps more than the regular fans, must get hacked off when the team on the pitch don't show the same passion and commitment as yourselves.
Sunday was a horror show and we were out muscles and out enthused by a committed KR team.
They didn't play champagne rugby of the highest order, they just played harder and didn't come up with the number of errors that we did.
Surely you expect better ?

I don't think anyone has forgotten that at all but that does not mean we should accept abject failure as was the case on sunday when things have moved on apace from where we were in September. Many paid good money to watch that gutless garbage and I for one am still angry about it. The 'time to gel' excuse cannot be used when the signs of 'gelling' were apparent to all in the previous 3 games, yet the team was uneccesarily changed undoing all that good work. An error of judgement by the guy who picks the team and not for the first time. When will he learn?

It's sheer panic MC, the spectre of relegation is still hanging around, and if Bradford get 6 points back!

| I feel that criticism and opinions are fine done in the right manner. Is it right to call Agar all the names under the sun or call for his head every poor result? I don't. Is it right to have an opinion to say you would have done something different to Agar? Yeh sure. Some people's tones or opinions are quite cutting which isn't helpful.
As regards Players I openly questioned their attitude and application v KR as did Agar. Again it is ok to question them in the right manner. I fully believe in them and think Agar can guide us to safety. I will question but fully support at the same time.

| Maybe the coaching staff and players "need a reminder" of how far we've come.
Spoke to loads of fans/supporters this week and they in the main only see match days results and base attendance on that alone.
Hard earned money spent last week on a baffling coaching call and a seemingly couldn't care less attitude from many of the players is not acceptable to these fans/supporters and if thats not a view thats liked then so be it.
If they keep the hard earned in the back pocket the clubs lost revenue, are they wrong not wanting to shell out for such fare?
I don't think any of them expect a winning team every week but dross is dross.

Very well put El Ray, I'm all for keeping perspective and I'm grateful to have a stable club but there were 5 of us in one car all wearing replica shirts and we paid a grand total of £125 to get in to watch that performance.

You could make a day of it Sunday, first shopping at Trinity walk then dinner at the Wetherby Whaler. I doubt the rugby was the deciding factor for her attendance but if you want to guarantee that she will see a win save it until London at home.
