Those players careers have come and gone whereas Max has barely begun. We will compare Max to those players at the end of his career if we must and he may be found wanting. However on Sunday, he put in a performance that any FB, in any team, in any era would be proud of, so why try to diminish it by needlessly comparing him to players from yesteryear?

Gary Cooper, great full back. He also was a great "kicking" full back. I recall once against Bradford Northern full back, Terry Price, they both played "foot tennis" against each other; a continuous volley of about thee kicks apiece.
