My sentiments excactly Snowie, they had enough quality on paper on the park so this under strength team doesn't cut it for me.They were outplayed in every department and the score could've been really embarrassing for Hull,so yes,I'd be very worried if I was a cod head.Well played Wakey to every squad member

| Though Hull had a few first teamers out I was pleased to see that when we had the ball and made a break we had a players backing the man with the ball up.Owens first try was well read by timmy who could see they were laking numbers that side and made sure everyone knew what he wanted from the scrum on to the ball like a flash and threw the long pass to Owen but it still had to be scored.Yes it was a friendly but was encouraged by the fact we threw the ball about and backed the man up if we can play that way throughout the season we wont go far wrong.

| It seems to work well switching the dynamics of the playmakers in last 20 With Sammut last 2 weeks.
The headache there will be how do you get him and Godinet both on the bench.
Starting with 3 props was a master stroke today and hull were well and truly bossed.
All played well really.hard decisions for Webster.
Annakin was very strong today too was good to see.
Special mention to Owen today. I don't think a lot of the flak has been justified in his direction. Made some good runs, few half breaks, strong in defence and finished well. More of the same please.

Realistically there will be no more than 6 of that team in the 17 when we play Huddersfield, and Ellis was only in as a token gesture on his testimonial. So given you were almost full strength I would have expected you to win quite comfortably. That said if we get injuries some of those boys will have to step up, and there were a handful of experienced guys in there, so it is a little worrying that you rolled us so easily.
I can see why we rested a lot, and I called it on this forum earlier in the week (I didn't think we would field quite this weak a side though). But it just makes the game seem like a bit of a waste of time. Ellis gets shortchanged, fans get shortchanged, we take a good beating which, regardless of personnel, is never good for confidence, and you could have done with more of a test aswell.

| Fair play to Owen I've been critical of him but he played well today, showed what he was capable and made a cracking tackle in the second half. On current form I'd have him and Johnstone on the wings. Hopefully with those two and Riley competing for 2 places they'll keep pushing each other to play to their best.
Also thought annakin came on well and made a big impact his carrying and offloading game was impressive, would be in the 17 for me as well.

I think the lack of first teamers has given our lads that opportunity to try a few things out which worked very well, bit sad that it only pulled a 2.2 K crowd for a player that did a lot for us when he was here

| A side to Gareth Ellis, my dad got a testimonial brouchure off him after the game, priced at £3 but my dad was going to give him a fiver . Gareth told him to keep his money , the brouchure and wouldn't take the money off my dad. I have always admired Gareth who is by no means a prima doña ! Moved to Leeds for less money that he was offered by Wakefield !. Such a shame he felt he had to leave to better himself, which you can't blame him for but it still grinds that he could have been the next Nigel bell or billy Conway and had a full testimonial at Wakefield but would he have achieved what he has done in the game? No of course not.. So cheers Gareth thanks for the memories and if anyone deserves a testimonial you do

| Stand outs for me were Annakin, Godinet and Owen. The score flattered Hull due to Hall having on off day with the conversions.
If my Dad was still alive he would have offered Ellis at least £6 for the programme.

| Was paleasena lineham Abdul arundel Thompson Whiting Lancaster and Bowden not first teasers and with Howarth playing first team football for Salford and Saints over the last coup,ex of seasons it was hardly a second team out there today, glad you got 2 scores from our mistakes and that hall missed 3 conversions so the score didn't end 52-0

Weak side?are you happy then with the so called fringe players out there today with the development of your up and coming so called future first team players which were mixed with the established 1st teamers?because what I saw today was a very poor side, wether it be coaching, players, tactics if it had been the other way around and Wakey were on the end of a good hiding ,I would be worried.I get a bit fed up listening to excuses after defeats blaming a weakened team, you know as well as I do that Hull should have strength in depth to beat a little side like Wakey, accept the defeat and move on

From that team we put out today I would imagine only, Lineham, Sneyd, Ellis, Feka, Bowden and Thompson will feature in the season opener. Abdull and Lancaster are 18. Howarth is 3rd choice hooker.
Regardless of experience the vast majority of the team were second choice or worse.
BUT, there were still some decent players out there, so congratulations on what was obviously a good performance by you.

As I clearly said in my post, we will have to call on alot of those guys at some point, so I'm not happy with how easily you won.
Why the big chip on your shoulder? I think either Widnes or yourselves will come bottom, but that doesn't mean you are a bad side by any means, this is a competitive league.

7th or 8th at best probably, but really I think Salford, Hull, Hull KR, Cas, Widnes and Wakefield could end up in pretty much any order, there isn't a stand out weak team.
Whoever finish bottom 4 will almost certainly stay in Superleague. There's still a pretty big gulf.

I do think you'll finish bottom, if I had to put money on someone it would be you. But I also think it's a very tight league and it's not beyond you to scrape the top 8.
Is it that hard to understand?

Erm well, I already said Paleaasina will play. Whiting, I doubt it, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility.
Arundel definitely not. He's been free to talk to other clubs all off season and was the only non-injured player not to go warm weather training with us. I don't expect him to play a single competitive game this season. In fact as I understand it he's not even registered to play because we don't want him on the salary cap.

| From Wakefield's point of view we've been well beaten in past season friendlies by Hudderdfield Colts and Leeds semi Colts so this is a big step forward.
For Hull I don't think this told them anything they didn't know. Their strength isn't that deep.

Erm well, not in the post you claimed there would only be 6 of those players in the team HTH
Personally I think you will have to rely on Whiting and Arundal as you clearly don't have the strength in depth to no play them, but hey must be nice to be a big club challenging for the top 8

Feka is Paleaasina, I mentioned him in the 6.
Whiting will play plenty of rugby this year but won't be first choice. Arundel won't play. Sa, Yeaman, Michaels and Logan are our centres, and if needs be we've got Whiting and Talanoa who can play there too.

How can you put money on Wakey finishing bottom and say it's not beyond them to finish in the 8 ?
It simply makes no sense. Yes it's very hard to understand.
Either you like wasting you're £££ or you think Wakey could make the 8. Which one is it ?
