If we finish first I am happy for Cas to be second, if we finish 12th I would want Cas to be 13th. Cas are important to us and I would suggest we are importanmt to Cas. It's always one of the best attendances of the season. But to answer the question it's the difference between a happy Monday and a depressed one.

I would guess that most Wakefield fans couldn't care less about beating Cas any more than beating any other side in SL. The two points and performance is all that matters. The derby just adds flavour. I think that Wakefield fans have more pressing concerns in the immediacy though.

I must have missed the 1996 and 1997 seasons when Wakefield were in NL1 ala Northern Ford Premiership or whatever it was called back then. If my math is correct, that means you've spent just as much time outside of SL as we have.

its just 2pts but a very cherished 2pts and come the opening day at cardiff no ones giving us a chance really everyone thinks we have made poor signings and cas appear to have made good if not decent ones on PAPER , BUT we all know games arent played on paper there played on grass about spirit and togetherness commitment to the cause and pride in the shirt we have signed the best we could and maybe just maybe we have picked up a couple of diamonds who just need the chance to shine under the lights, you only have to look at blackpool at football there are certain players on more a week than their entire squad together but there not doing so bad are they

To answer the orginal question,
Its a fantastic result to beat anyone !but to be there when we have beaten cas is like a shot in the arm of love with a silly smile to add , plus you get to gloat.

Is like being dumped on your first date , the walk home thinking where did it go wrong , head in shame knowing people are laughing at you and that you didn't score (86-0).

Before this franchise farce and no relegation farce the fixture was the game we all wanted to win all season. Moreso when we beat Castleford to send them down on two occasions. No Wakey fan could have said there was a better moment in their supporter carerr. Sadly the RFL changed all that, and now the yearly relegation fixture has become just another 2 points in reality.

Not a lot give me a win over Wigan and Leeds any day and boy have we see some great wins and total underdogs

I'm from normy and couldn't care about beating wakey. Like many wacky fans say id rather beat Leeds. This season will be different as it's a massive year and I hope we show we are not only the stronger club but the better team as well.

bit of education here for you. the title of the thred is what does it mean to you to beat cas. in case you forgot your a cas fan.

I know there are a few ' rough ' towns in the Championships , but ' Oblivion ' is a bit excessive , I'm sure parts of Wakey are a bit ' ropey ' as well

Traditionally when we had the great team of the 60s Leeds was always the big one I've heard great stories of the of the boxing day matches at Belle Vue and Headingley. I started watching the mighty Trin from about 84 the yo yo years and although brought up to dislike leeds, Fev was always the fixture I looked forward to we had some right battles in the 80s/90s. Cas has always been a game with abit of spice to it with us sending them down twice and the survival Saturday religation match, always good banter with workmates friends and often family split between Trin and Cas watching the match together but sadly recently due to us both been pitched against each other with the franchise system the banter has often turned into hate which is sad to see.

As for the Derby, Cas fans obsess about Leeds, And i dont get it tbh. There is a strong hint of jealousy involved. My biggest derby in SL is yourselves, Mainly as we're always competing at the same level. But at the end of the day, its only worth 2 points and bragging rights for a week.

Interesting then that Cas's biggest home attendance last season was against Trinity followed by Wigan, Hull and then Leeds. Perhaps Cas fans only pretend to be more interested in beating Leeds because they think it puts them in the big boys' club! Incidentally, our highest attendance [uwas[/u against Leeds.

Personally, beating Leeds is brilliant - I just love the crestfallen looks on their litttle faces - but I look forward to the Cas games more than any other.

If we stay in SL and Wakey do lose their licence, our nearest derby WILL be Leeds. Leeds football fans obsess over Man Utd/Liverpool etc but are nowhere near them in terms of 'derby'. But there is still a rivalry and always has been between Cas and Leeds and this stretches back long before the SL era.
