John Kear's loyalty should be to John Kear. As soon as anyone does something for a living, they have to look after themselves, and people who think otherwise are putting their own self-interest first. I doubt it is anything about being money mad, but simply doing what we would all do in his situation, and provide himself with some security and a new challenge. What do people expect him to do, not bother about himself and just find himself on the dole in a years time if we don't get a franchise?

He would not have applied for the job if he didn't want it, and if he is mad at the club for not letting him go, then you can hardly blame him, but on the other hand, he is also a professional rugby league coach, and I would expect that regardless of the Catalan job, he will do his utmost to carry on his coaching at Wakefield. As far as I know, he hasn't thrown his teddies out of the cot, and now that this has been resolved, I'm sure he'll go back to drumming his fingers and barking into his headset at Belle Vue. Maybe this will even spark an upturn in the season.

Would be nice to see the club now seek to resolve the issue by offering a better contract to him to entice him to stay. Put the issue to bed, and announce a new beginning from here onwards.

I'm sorry, he's shown his true colours now and the only option is to split.

The club will always owe him a debt of gratitude for staving off relegation four years ago but 10 defeats in the last 11 suggest the magic is no longer working. And that the players no longer listen.

Knowing he wants to leave should bring about a swift parting of the ways.

I do think that it could go either way for JK now, the ones that want him out, there mind is already made up, his supporters though may see this as a attempted jumping of ship, and he could well lose some support.
The thing is who in their right mind would not want to jump ship at the moment, if anyone on here was looking at an uncertain future at work, they would also be looking for another job, the fact that he is one of the top coaches also means other clubs will be trying to get him.
Personally I think he did the right thing, it didn't come off, basically because the club forced the contractual compensation angle, and he will have to get his head back down.
He still wants to go, he is still wanted elewhere, but the club won in the end, as they should have done with tronc and brough!!
Maybe he wouldn't have been so ready to leave then?!?!

It also makes recruitment for 2011 that little bit more difficult, especially if working with Kear was the draw for any potential signing.

The issue with regards to showing him the door is financial. The club can not afford to pay him off.

I think the club is in any position to pick and chose what kind of fans it needs at all, and any fan who contributes financially in any way should be welcome with open arms (obvious behavior scenarios exempted).

I agree that fans are entitled to their opinions, but is a fan seriously someone who slates coaching staff and directors and never has anything positive to say, sorry but that's not a fan. And if you want to air your opinion that badly, go to an Audience with night, which is an opportunity to air frustrations / comments. It's not so much the Club that gets targeted it's John, family and Ted which was why I asked why apply for a job at the Club in the first place if you have so much hatred towards John and Ted? The statement sems to have omitted whether or not he was interviewed or how Catalans identified him or how he learned of their future plans.

We now have a coach at the club who obviously WAS interested in speaking to Les Cats otherwise he would have said thanks but no thanks immediately.

That said, in JK's defence the club ALLOWED him to talk to Les Cats.
