I don't like a hb as captain - they've got enough to think about; especially one like Miller, who's all over the place in both attack and defence. Let him do what he's doing and don't upset the applecart by burdening him with the captaincy.

Plenty of senior players who can give leadership - Scruton and Anderson for starters, with some younger lads who look like they have the right attitude to develop leadership skills under their mentorship.

Just as matter of interest who do we know for certain is already signed up for next year ? So far I think we may have ::

Id be really happy with Rankin. Hull fans would probably tell us in more detail, but whenever i have seen them he has looked one of there more dangerous players.

I wonder who is making the decision on recruitment for next season. Is Smith looking at bringing players in for his successor if he does move on?

Just seen the Rankin rumour, would be a very good signing, his best position is FB, just a bit unlucky that we have Shaul at Hull, very good in attack particularly in his link up play. Best friends with Miller, so might mean he is staying also.

Be nice if club could confirm one way or other. Looked very good for Hull. On other hand Hull are releasing because the have Shaul we also have Jowett who will be a similar age has only played twice both in difficult circumstances and has been outstanding on both occasions.

MC has stated quite clearly it's not true on Twitter. We can't expect the club to make official announcements regarding

Wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the rumour. Radio Humberside have often broke events first. Paul Cooke's transfer for instance was first mooted by them as was FC's drug scandal for another, they do appear to have the finger on the pulse.
The usual suspects would have you believe that Rankin was on his way home to Oz but in reality he was always after a gig in the UK, albeit not at the KC. He has been preferred to Shaul for most of the season by Radford and as the official stats show and FWIW I believe you have signed a good player who can as useful at full back as in the halves.

When the Club chairman openly states on Twitter Official announcement! All rumours of signings are not true! Until we announce an official deal I would think it's untrue. It's the second time he has denied this story.

It wouldn't hurt to let supporters think the club are making plans that extend beyond the end of the season.

Head scratching. But why do people believe a rumour as gospel but don't believe our chairman when he says it's not true

The thing is it's no longer a rumour, it's now being reported as fact by BBC sports main sports page.

The Chairman says it isn't true and also said "the last he knew of Rankin he was heading home".

The trouble now is that if we do sign him the Chairman looks like a liar, therefore I'm guessing he won't be signed by us and the rumour/reports are untrue

I'm not sure any comment needed to be made . Let the paper reports what it wants , at least it gives the fans something to talk about . I don't get the Twitter thing, I have never followed it and don't expect I ever will.

I don't necessarily think this means it won't happen , just that until it's announced then it's not officially true!!
