| Quote ="Inflatable_Armadillo"In response to Richard Wrights statement this morning - [urlhttp://www.castigers.com/article.php?id=1931[/url I would just like to comment as follows.
It is a shame that Richard Wright did not take the opportunity to clarify why he felt he need to respond to the questions raised and asked directly of him by Barton Willmore, whom he clearly knew to be working on behalf of a group objecting to the Newmarket development. He has said that there is nothing new in what he said in this letter and indeed, I would say that is correct. So in that case, why did he write the letter just to them and if he felt he needed to clarify his and Castleford Tigers position on this issue, why was the letter not sent to the planning inspector, sent to all parties, or issued as a general media release... or even, just left it alone completely, which should have been his decision IMO!
He has missed the opportunity to either clarify why he felt the need to write this letter, or in hindsight apologise for possibly make a misjudgement in issuing this letter to Barton Willmore, knowing for whom they were working but that he he stands by the actual content of the letter. That is shame and I still think the initial release and this statement lack clarity and indicates a potential lack of professional integrity on his part.
Right, that is it, move on!'"
Spot on IA!
I think we've seen Dickie hit a new low, what really bothers me is how some Cas fans are trying to justify his actions.
Let them get on with it while we look at getting Newmarket passed.
Keep up the good work.

Too right, there are far more intelligent men than him at the PI & we have them on the ropes! Salt the slug & move onward and upwards!
They only thing RW's ever been good at (& I include selling fruit & veg) is grabbing headlines. Through a combination of the emotion of the day & the cloak & daggers angle he used we let him have his moment. Yet again selling his fictional stadium with privately owned "community" facilities.
I hope he remembers who will hold the decision on WR & who he (by association) is calling corrupt.

| "his own shaky position at Cas, he has had to follow this through.
When Wakefield "refused to cooperate" with the feasibility study, he knew IMO it was his last chance saloon, and the doors had been slammed shut on him, hence he is now doing what he can to throw a spanner in the NM works, simply out of spite.
I think this is the beginning of the end for RW, i thing in recent years he has become very unpopular within WR and his popularity with those that don't cling on to his every word in the Cas support base is also slipping drastically."
So - if he is that unpopular - why was he voted in (unanimously) as CEO at the recent shareholders meeting ?

Because they are in his back pocket, you would be better being shut of Richard Wright, and get a new owner, that is just not my view also the view of some cas fans I know, he will drag the club down...

There HAS been at least one meeting this year, attended by Cas shareholders, to discuss RWs position.
If you want to think he is captain popularity, thats up to you.

| James Elston was on today, sounds like the inspector asked a lot of questions about sharing a stadium and why this wasnt a possibility..

James is now to be cross examined. The Inspector asked the question over sharing with Cas, and he highlighted how that really isn't possible'"

I dont understand why he would focus on these issues, surely the main issues are funding and viabilty along with the desperate need for a new stadium because of position in super league...

So you cas fans agree with his message that we should share a stadium? You can use NM, after all it is the only one that's fully funded

On radio Leeds Richard Wright has not ruled out playing at the only true community stadium. The Wakefield & District Community Stadium situated in the middle of the district on the former Newmarket colliery

I don't think it will be the inspector that will have asked most of these questions, but LCC's barrister in cross examination. He was building this case yesterday... but all he is building is a house of cards!

If he is talking about playing at the community stadium then it has to be Newmarket. Community stadiums cannot be owned by a private company and as such GH cannot be a community stadium. Unless of course Cas are now not going to be owning GH and will now be tennants to a community trust, then he is right to call it as such. Which is correct?

James was asked in some depth why he would not move to Cas and he answered it well. LCC used this as a major part of their cross examination although they seemed to have a go at anything they could pick up on however orrelevent. The main reason James gave was that first it is purely a mythical stadium and without having a full business plan to examine on how it would work he would be unable to create a financial model to justify the move.
I feel that this topic will coninue to crop up as things move on and idealyy it should have been killed off this morning.
My overall impression was that James did very well but at times the chair showed signs of weakness and allowed LCC to overstep the mark a little.

No he definatly said he hasn't ruled out the idea of playing at Newmarket. I imagine he has to cover all options incase tesco pulled out of the wheldon road deal.

Quite simply Wakefield fans won't watch the club in sufficent number whilst they were playing at GH and as such wouldn't be financially viable for WT to play there. Simple really.

| Am I thick or something.
What relevance does the ground sharing have to the LCC objections.
If Castleford were not planning a new ground or if they already had one the sharing issue would not be there.
LCC should be made to ask questions pertinent to their objections.
They seem to be using the ground share issue as extra ammunition which they would not have if said issue did not exist.

| Ask yourself this if you were in Eric Pickles shoes what would you sooner see in the news -WTW new ground rejected Yorkcourt now cant build and create xxx number of jobs - or New ground for WTW and development creates xxx jobs for the Wakefield district. The country is in the mire and unemployment up plus some good news is needed to calm the population down a little.Did Mr glover not say at one point he had other options if NM didnt get the go ahead now would it not be funny if NM was rejected and we found another option than to share GH.

And in further irony LCC leader Keith Wakefield was on Look North earlier moaning how they have to find a further £50 million of cuts next year and how its going to cause more job losses. He then goes on to say that despite government promises the private sector are not picking up the job losses that are being created in the public sector. And yet he is objecting to 2000 being created on his doorstep. Bit hypocritical don't you think?

They haven't got much to go on and therefore scraps is all the LCC barister has to work with... but he does seem to be building a house of cards, as I said. I am unsure of how comfortable the Methley Residents Association and the Newmarket Lane residents are now feeling with this persistent line of questioning about Cas & GH by LCC. Not sure who is pushing the argument and why they are not changing tack! I think Barton Willmore will continue the theme right to the end. They might see this as the only real viable counter argument to the stadium element of the proposals... this is all they have, so might as well stick with it approach!
Still sounds like a good day again today... but equally, when you are in driving the seat, they always are!
