I asked the question a while ago - how much would you have to put into the club to match Ted's shareholding? The answer, iirc, was around the 350K mark.

Does anyone know how many shares there are in the club?

Is he looking for £2m of investment and still give the shares away. That might be a different situation completely. Ted isn't going to see his club die, he is wanting to do whats best.

I have told you the true version, and would not have bothered to post at all if it was not.
There have been interested parties previously but not ones who filled the 2 conditions I mentioned earlier.

Wasn't a figure of £650k said to be the amount the bank needed as a guarantee back when Toppo and friends showed an interest.

After we stayed up on the last day at Salford in 2001 (during the CVA) the only way the RFL would allow us to stay in SL was if Ted personally guaranteed, to the tune of £650,000, that we could complete the following season.

That was the time of the meeting when Toppo and the several others wanted to take over the Club - can't remember exact figures but I think it was around £150,000 they had to invest between them.

Hence Ted rejected their approach for the reason I mentioned in my earlier post - they hadn't the money to secure the future of the Club.

Ted's reply was £650000!!

Correct-although i thought it was £120,000.

I guess that you have Teds version of events and I have the investors version of events. The truth may lie somewhere between the two, but I have no reason to doubt what I have been told either!

The £650k is a requirement of the RFL/SL i believe.

If that is the case Big Al, who is guaranteeing this now. Is Ted still doing this?

Despite the fact that rugbyball is a bit of a tosspot, she does have a point. If one of the conditions of SL is that you must be backed to the value of £650k, who is? And is that why ted is now so keen to relinquish control?

It isn't a condition of SL ... but it was for us at that moment in time following the Pearman fiasco and we were in a CVA for 3 years.

The figure of £650,000 was our salary cap at that time - so Ted had to guarantee all players were paid till the end of the season to prevent the Club folding mid-season.

Ok seems understandable, I would still think that SL would expect some kind of financial guarantee though that it's member clubs can compete for the season, after all it doesn't want clubs dropping out halfway because of financial problems or having to bail out crippled clubs.
It's not just us that seem to be operating at a loss, so clubs being bankrolled must still have to be able to guarantee coninuation in the competition if those backers do a Leighton Samuel!!

Or indeed a John Pearman!!!!

Our salary cap is exactly the same as every other club. Our expenditure is a few hundred grand less!
