I wouldn't play or bench him tbh.
Give him a run-out elsewhere to get him up to speed.

Good luck with that too after what Mash said about the colourful language he received from KP when he tried to sub him off is anything to go by!

| OMG, no....this is a must-win game and he's the worst ref in SuperLeague, along with the rest of them. We are doomed already...does anyone know the way to Whitehaven ??

| I don't think Tanginoa will be match-ready.
I have a hunch of seeing Hall resume in the 2nd row for this game.

I wouldn't be offended by this, he held his own there last year and it'd be both Langi and Lyne could play centre.

Yes that's the little snake that gave Catalan a right helping hand last time we played them at home.

Rather see Pitts who’s an actual right second row and looked pretty good pre season. Hall could do a job I’m sure but I can’t see why we’d do that unless necessary through injuries.
This has all come from where we play Langi and for him in. Tough choice for Mash as Catalans have some deadly backs,
I think I’d go for Langi and Hall in centres. I would be ok with any of Hall, Langi and Lyne though.
Our discipline has been good most of pre season so I hope that transitions into the round 1.
I don’t mind who referees so long as they’re consistent.

I hope there’s no howlers against us again like last week. Swift scoring with a foot clearly well in touch seconds before. Last year Salford try where Burgess has a whole leg over 2ft in touch.
It’s a new season. I’m willing to give refs a clean sheet. I thought James Child was a poor ref when he first came on scene but as time went on he improved and ended up being a good referee imho.
Suppose refs need to develop too and need support and investment. I’ll just judge the refs after the performances.
I honestly don’t mind if they’re consistent. Tbh, a couple of games there weren’t many 6 against or penalties given in pre -season. I hope this continues and that’s the best way to ref imho unless of course you really do have a team that’s being poorly disciplined.

However, for a balanced view, even with that, it can [istill[/i go t*ts up with some "questionable" refereeing decisions.....
But, all refs - like the players - start off with a clean slate with me.
....How long that lasts of course, is another question....

| I remember everyone criticising Grant aftee the Catalans game for giving a try that was over the dead ball line, but when the replays came out it was a yard in play and the officials were right. I didn't see many fans apologising after that.
And now people have the cheek to say they're giving the refs a clean slate!

Are you Tom Grant's - or any of the other refs - agent?
If you had read my post, I never slagged him off.

Stop being over dramatic for heavens sake.
Officials make mistakes many times through the season and some are more influencing than others. There is no issue with fans saying they will start from a nuetral opinion and then form their opinions on this years performances. I am one of those fans and I don’t see why you would call me out as having cheek for keeping my powder dry until the games start to unfold.
If anything it’s understanding that referees develop their knowledge and game as seasons go by and that mistakes will happen. Whatever happened previous seasons in terms of officiating doesn’t matter this season. If the refs have a good consistent performance in 2023 or a sub par one I’ll make my opinion based on that.
For the record I haven’t slated any referee and don’t tend to. I haven’t really seen anyone on here either. They have a tough job and I feel they could do with more support and investment. I’m sure they do their best. Most fans and trinity fans realise this. Doesn’t make it any less frustrating though when a balls ripped and a knock on is called or a try is given with a foot way in touch though. Hopefully that doesn’t happen this season.

He is banned, or he should be. I believe they changed the rules on some grade charges so instead of bans, players receive a fine instead, surely they can`t go back and retrospectively change the ban to a fine?!
Anyway, strong squad! Tanginoa in there, which when you look at the players that will naturally drop out from the wing/centre spots suggests that he may well be in the matchday 17.

Yes, it's definitely the professional, full time referees that need to develop their knowledge! Never understood how they can stand so close to the game yet get it so wrong when and fans can stand 100 yards away with a pint in their hand whilst talking to a few mates and get every decision right! It's so frustrating!

| I always try to see referees as unbiased and professionals doing a difficult job. My gripe is that they are inconsistent, and this can infuriate fans who are passionate about their club. Kendal for me is the worst and he's a touch arrogant with it.
