| The thing i like about Murphy is not the fact he made a try saving tackle, but that he had the confidence to go for it.
So many would just give up as it looked a certain try.
The pain of losing TJ reduces every time I see Murphy play. I'm OK spending Tom's money elsewhere now.
Fantastic player.

According to the match report it was Connor Wrench.

Some people have very short memories.
Johnstone has done the business over what 6/7 years?! He's scored tries that make the mind boggle. At times he's been the one shining light in the darkness. For me he's the best pleayer we've had in the SL era. To say Murphy is a better player at this point is F mental in my opinon.

I agree. I'm full of praise for Murphy but Tom is special.

I agree Tom is my favourite player. He’s played over 100 games and scores almost as many and some from impossible situations.
Murphy has potential to be a very good SL winger but there’s a lot to go to reach the heights TJ has. That’s not to say he won’t and the early signs are good but as someone previously said we shouldn’t be comparing him to TJ.
Murphy has had a promising start and looks good. Hopefully more to come from him.

| Just to be clear…I wasn’t comparing Murphy to Johnstone now…
As someone else has said TJ has been the best player we’ve produced in the last decade at least…no disputing that…has been brilliant for us and I really hope he kicks on in France…
Was just a comparison at this stage of his career…his 6th super league game…he’s already shown enough in his all round game to suggest to me he can reach the heights of TJ…my memory may be wrong but I have it in mind that TJ took quite a while to iron out quite a few things…
Murphy after a horrendous start against Leeds has very quickly put that behind him and the last two games in particular has looked like he’s been a super league player for 2-3 seasons…nothing seems to phase him…looks confident…very strong for what I still feel is quite a slight frame…if he carries on progressing at the speed he is and bulks up a bit losing Johnstone will be a bit easier to take.
Really excited for the future and that left edge of Murphy and Hall…after being treated to the exceptional pair of Johnstone and Tupou but then the frustration of the last couple of seasons of injuries to them both they are two shining lights from this season so far…

| Fwiw losing Johnstone is getting easier every game Murphy plays and isn’t going to be the end of the club as some have stated once he’s gone to les cats . Personally when the day comes I feel losing Fifita is going to be far worse for us as a club than losing Johnstone , as the aforementioned is replaceable imo ,but I’ve yet to see a player with big Dave’s on field as well as off field presence ,not just at our club but in any club in super league. We’ve had plenty of fantastic overseas players but non have come close imo to what Dave has done for this club . Big statement I know but he’s just so inspirational at the club .

I’d broadly agree and let’s be honest TJ has payed us back many fold. Also I’ll say again Kershaw should he regain full fitness is also a tremendous player, easily SL standard.
So although neither replace TJ imho they certainly compensate in that we still have plenty of pace and guile on the wings.
I just hope the TJ thing doesn’t drag on and the money freed up is used partly to incentify Murphy and Kershaw.

Absolutely right.
Right from his debut in a friendly at Leeds, Johnstone has been utter quality and we've seen some quality from the lad.
Murphy was outstanding yesterday and the try (match) saver was top, top draw but, lets not gloss over what we've had from our best winger for almost 50 years at Tinity.
It's a shame that we cant keep both
Having said all that, the partnership on the left side of Hall and Murphy is really exciting.
Both still very young and hungry and with plenty of good seasons in front of them. Long may it continue

Says Daryl Powell just before going to the Warrington board of directors to say "open your chequebooks again".
Vital IMO that we tie Lewis down long term as soon as we can because teams will come sniffing around without a doubt.

TBF I don't think that's where Warringtons issues lay so I doubt he's interested right now - long term who knows.

It's actually on the highlights on SKY, rare they include a tackle.

How he got to him in the first place and then got hold and kept hold of his ankle, wow, just wow.
Kept us in the game, no question about it.

| As daft as it sounds just tackle was probably one of the most important contributions by a Trinity player in a good few years.
I don’t like comparisons between players really as they are obviously different individuals but I think it’s safe to say both he and TJ can be called match winners all be it for different types of contribution at the moment.

Got to say I’ve been impressed by Murphy’s defence. For a young lad in his first full time season he seems to be in the right place and shows good technique. The try’s will come eventually I’ve no doubt about that.
I honestly don’t know how we do it but of the young wingers about in SL it seems yet again we have the best of the bunch.
