Lucky was all it was. No other team goes into a game with a full back on the bench, would normally ask one of your other backs to slot in if required. A full back on the bench in ordinary circumstances is a luxury no team can afford

I was looking at some Wakefield match reports from previous years today...Kears selection of having a Winger/FB/Centre on the bench seems to be quite an occurance. V. Huddersfield in 2008 we had Blanch on the Bench....now thats pointless!

Didn't we have blaymire on the bench the other season or so against Leeds at Headingly? He was brought on after half an hour and everything had to be changed around to accommodate him again.

Having Blanch on the field or on the bench was pointless, for my money Wildie should have played and i do hope Ben gets a shirt next week.

Fitness, cost you this week and by all accounts cost you last week, the players you had on show are good enough you just don't last the pace.

Yes but some players fitness seems to be affected from having to do more work than others because of the bench that Kear picks and the length of time some players spend on the field compared to others.

Yes pal...from my very brief research from reports we have had the following on the bench in recent times:

Blaymire
Blanch
Millard
Veivers
Petersen

With more than these appearing twice....JK, rightly or wrongly believes that is method behind this.

True and if you had 3 forwards on the bench you should have been fine, the injury didn't help you granted but Kear should be experienced enough to know when to interchange players.

I don't think we are as fit as we could be, that said it did not bother us at Hull, in fact they got stronger during the game, maybe its catching up with them.

Grix is a utility, he played wing, fb, 6 and loose for Trinity.

I do think there is something in that, we do seem to have a knack of rotating after 35 mins in first half, surely this is lregel pointless and secondly makes players more prone to pulled muscles as they effectivly start cold twice in 5 mins game time!

Al I am questioning it, yes. Take the Leeds match last week.

Neither Wildie or Veivers were used in the first 60 mins that meant that Rinaldi had to do too much work in one go so nullified the latter part of his time on the field and meant he could not be there to be effective late in the game.

Amor hardly spent any time on the field at all and I am pretty sure was subbed 5 mins after half time having just had a 15 minute rest!!!

Morrison and Mariano both played 80 mins, cos Hendo was having to be spelled with the props. We should have two props on the bench, one backrower and a hooker.

to be fair i think its more to do with youth, players returning from injury, and players not used to playing at this level regularly.

coupled with tackle counts in first halves that are usually massively against us.

but we all knew this would happen, dont really see the point moaning about it!

We have a relative team of nobodies who try so so hard for as long as possible and when they hit the 'wall', thats when other teams blow us away. It is a link between skill level and workload that then eventually contribute to fitness...the human body can only go a certain amount of time without feeling shafted...as it happens I think we are well conditioned.

Yes we did and its happening, we'll have to live with it and improve when we can.
