Surely would'nt that put you in the best possible position to offer an opinion on the player?.

Im sure the same could be said about Richard Moore, Ricky Bibey, Jase Golden etc etc, they came in from the lower leagues and did a job for us.

In fact all the players we have signed in recent years seem to be 'cast offs' with the exception on Shane Tronc and David Solomona- and we're still in SL and remain competitive!!

It would do in my opinion. However, I am very curious as to what jonh reasons are!

I'm not a supporter of your club so I'm dispassionate about my observations. There are those of us who thought jjp was NOT the best centre at fev. I've seen Kevin Penny a few times and was NOT impressed by him in any of his performances v Fev - he was gash!! Sam Barlow, ok player. Young and big - ok in championship - but nowt more special than ok - and I've seen him player a fair bit this season for sheff and fax.
My thoughts that at SL, when the intensity, fitness and skills level are much higher, your team is being filled with recruits who have only performed, and some (Penny) who have been absolutely average, in the championship!

Still, if you're happy, that's ok.

Different environments have different affects upon players, Paul White was so appalling whilst on loan at Halifax they sent him back, and to be fair to the lad he went on to play fairly well for the rest of the season at SL level.

The signings this season are not so different from the usual ones Trinity make. Older players with SL experience, players written off by other clubs and a few championship players. So far they have managed to keep the club hovering around the top 8 aside from last year, which ironically the recruitment policy appeared deviate from the norm and go for a higher quality of player.

You only have to look at Peter Fox and Jason Golden. Both were plucked from lower league clubs when Rhino's didn't think they were good enough. Both are still playing at superleague level one of them rated as one of the best wingers in the country.

Its the circumstances surrounding this that I would not want him at my club, not a reflection on his ability.

Taking on players who 'have had' discipline issues does not bother me one bit,
JK has proved time after time that he can sort troubled players out and get the best out of them plus more


We got rid of Brough frist time around due to discipline issues and very few fans wanted him back after his stint with hull and cas (I thought his signing insane at the time), he's now the best british scrum half in the game, he is one of numerous players that JK has sorted out
Todd Carney was sacked for a breech of discipline, one year later he is stand off and player of the year

We will start our season with a team of unknows, kids and has beings not for the first time and I am sure we will compete and finish higher than any one will give us credit for as ususal

Well Paul Cullen certainly got the best out of his players when he was at Warrington.

Well Barlow was under McCormack at Widnes if that's what your trying to get at? Never done anything special anywhere and at his age to be onto his fourth club already? Just a cheap shot merchant who doesn't like it when gets it back, can do it more in Championship but in SL you need to be more than that. Gives 100% (when he's happy) but not in best back rowers in championship even.

If this is the Sam Barlow who managed to antagonise Mark Aston recently and given his ( Astons) association with JK and Beans, it does seem a strange decision to sign him, particularly as Halifax later apologised.The miming of tearing up a contract was in appaling taste and demonstrated a total lack of respect.

Wakey cannot afford to buy well established expensive players, we get players other clubs deem past it or are trouble causers or not good enough, for the last four and a bit years since John Kear came in the main this is all we have done. I am not going to bother naming them as the fans on here know who they are, my point regarding Cullen is that at Wire he virtually had the pick of the players he wanted and in the meantime they built up the reputation of being SL best under achievers, it's noticable that since he has gone to your club you seem to be going backwards, what I find amusing is that [uthere is some idle rumours on an a rl fans forum that he is coming to Wakey [/uand here you are slating him off, if he ever does come to the club I would imagine its because the coach thinks he can do something with him despite your lack of faith in him, but I can see how you would not want him at Widnes under Cullen though

I for one am fed up with bitter twisted Featherstone fans who for some reason would love nothing better than to see both Wakefield and Castleford fall flat on their faces
