I did indeed join after the game, but I don't see what relevance that has.
Like I said before I've followed trinity for over 50 years.
I joined as I have been stuck in like most other people and thought It would be a good place to talk rugby/put opinions across seen as we can't get to games anymore.
I'm guessing you are only wanted to post if you think we ayed brilliant/were unlucky Etc..
The truth is we lost to arguably the weakest team leeds will have out this season and Castleford were outstanding!!!
I shall know next time to only post if we win or blame the referee if we lose and make sure if Castleford do win to blame the Referee!!!
Thats me out on this page then

Maybe he was eager to join us on here but thought that if he waited till Trin had a win to come on, then he would never get on

Miller : 5 missed tackles, 4 errors, 1 penalty conceded (stupid), 31 metres gained.

| Trinhomeandaway like you I have watched Wakefield for over 50 years and a few more as well .The thing is you say it,as it is .Trouble with some on this forum is they looked at our players through rose tinted glasses ,instead of telling it as it is We are a S L club well run who can not complete with the big boys because we just spend to our limit not go millions in det chasing success .But I would not change a thing I am proud of this club .

| Happyjack ,the reasons I think we will finish in bottom 4 is, we have got to play 4 teams that will be pushing for a finish in the top 6 .three times. As for improvement we were playing rugby ,and making overlaps on the wing ,instead of the 5 drives and a kick .We were running with our heads up looking for players .There is loads of work to do .We have got to stop wasting chances,we could \should have had 3 trys in the second half .We have got to cut out the mistakes when we have the ball .We have got to move the ball away faster from the play the ball ,some times the ball was aimed at the floor instead of man. 3 times in the second half Lynn was behind the play the ball even thought we had the two hookers on the field .We just do not react fast enough As I say lot of work to do

We have just got beat by quite literally Leeds 2nd team
With all the players they had missing this should have been 2 easy points, this shows how poor and weak we are,can you imagine the scoreline with a full leeds team out !!!
For everyone saying we were ok,yes we were ok against a 2nd string team, Leeds are literally laughing at us,they fully expected to get beat with the players they had missing
Embarrassing'"
Please tell, what you think Leeds 1st 17 would be then ?
In my opinion although Leeds were under strength in the backs, thats was pretty much their first choice pack.
Lets not forget Wakefield were missing at least 3 players that would likely be in the 1st 17 Jowiit/Battye/Wood.

| A few less brain farts in defence and a bit more savvy in attack and we’d have come away with the points of that I’m pretty sure .I’m sure the coaches will be working on a few areas that we need to tidy up ,but for me I was happy with the performance for a first game .Sure I was miffed when Walker was carried back over the line and then later was bundled out of the way for Dwyer to go over, Tupou’s break should have resulted in a try if timing was better, senior was unlucky to get pulled for a Forward pass as I’m pretty sure he’d have made the line ,but I’m glad that we are talking about fine margins and not a shellacking like we’ve all witnessed over the years when the opposition get their noses in front .Bit more oomph in the forwards and a bit more guile in the backs and we are a match for anyone from what I’ve watched over the weekend .Consistency is the key to our success ,let’s hope we find it over the next few games and have a cracker of a season .

Whilst we were missing 3 players as you say possibly on wood would make the starting 13 (who are you dropping for Jowett and Battye)
Whilst jowit is ok hes not getting in front of Walker and Battle whlust he gives 100% hes a championship prop at best
Leeds startimg team would have been something like this i guess
1 Jack Walker
2 Tom Briscoe
3 Harry Newman
4 Konrad Hurrel
5 Ash Handley
6 Robert Lui
7 Luke Gale
8 Oledski
9 Leeming
10 Prior
11 Alex Mellor
12 Ryse Martin
13 Tevano
Whilst their pack is/was probably their strongest they will get this year (unless they sign)
They had 5 out of 7 backs missing that would have 100% started.
To lose your superstar fullback, both centres, last seasons leading try scorer and your stand off obliterated their team
With this information Leeds had 40% of there strongest team missing and 72% of their backs missing
What we had possibly 1 player missing that would have started
Makes a huge difference, with there backs in place we definitely don't get the chances out wide like we did and under so much more pressure defensively against there strike players

I already said Wood would have played
Walker is going to play fullback in front of jowit in my opinion (time will tell) and no matter what you think about Battye he is nearly 30 years old and has hardly played any top flight rugby, there is a reason for that and also why he hasn't been given the number 8 or 10 shirt

I'll take that bet re Max over Walker all day long.
If you look at your logic about Batts not getting the 8 or 10 shirt, then by [iyour[/i logic, Walker should have the No.1 jersey???
Also, was Batts signed after the squad numbers were released?

You ask why Battye hasn't been given the number 8 or 10 shirt, but say that Walker will play in front of Jowitt who incidentally has been given the number 1 shirt, not sure where your logic is there chief, also not sure what Battye's age has to do with it, isn't he the youngest recognised prop at the club?, and also one last point, wasn't the shirt numbers given out before he signed anyway, and if that was the case you wouldn't expect the coach to relieve one of the present incumbent of the jerseys' surely.

Yes I believe walker will play infront of Jowitt thats my opinion
Battye's age has lots to do with it,why do you think he is nearly 30 and nobody has previously come in for him to play top flight rugby ?
Whilst he is a hard worker he is never going to change or win you a game, championship quality at best but I hope he proves me wrong (as well as all the other coachs who didn't come in for him previous)
Enjoy your week

Good attempt at fitting your narrative - i asked for the first 17,not first 13.
Jowitt 100% before Walker - Hampshire would be full back before Walker.
Battye would have been in 17 instead of Tangata.
K Wood would have been in ahead of J Wood.
Even though you only decided to use the first 13 - still no where near a virtual 2nd string Leeds team.

What amazes me is how these posters emerge after one loss, never to be seen again, then another one appears spouting the same old nonsense and we are supposed to not be able to work out what they are up to. It's insulting, to be honest, my grandson could probably spot the pattern and the agenda.

Dont need anything to fit my "narrative" 5 out of your starting 7 backs missing surely in anybody books would be classed as 2nd string
Just to weigh up your argument are you saying that if we had Jowit missing, Johnstone missing, tupou missing,Lyne missing and Miller missing you wouldn't class that as a 2nd string waky side ?

Alex walker will not start ahead of max or even hampshire unless there is a half back injury issues he is clearly 3rd choice full back.the aquad numbers where issued before eddie arrived and i would say eddie will start more than not fit but its just as important for you sub props to be as good as your starting.as for his age and experience did you not see how well he played for london when in sl and how well he played for us last season and as for his age for a prop hes around the prime age for most props

Yes I did see how he played for London in super league and he was "average" in a very poor London side that got relegated.
I also saw how he played for us last year and as stated before he is 100% but again was average in what can only be described as a poor team/season again
Thats me out on this matter now as you know my opinions.

| I thought we played okay and was quite optimistic following it. I wasn't surprised by the result though because we rarely seemed to be in the Leeds half. Our efforts were mainly long range, which shows the other side is dominating the game. Our left edge is very dangerous but other teams will quickly train to snuff that out.
The new strip rule disappointed me, because clearly Leeds had been training to utilise it and we looked like we'd never heard of it.
On the whole, the game could have gone either way and I thought it was a fairly decent performance, but Leeds were the dominant team and deserved to win it.
As for the players, I think we'll go better with either Jowitt or Rocky at full back. Walker was fine but perhaps still a bit green and nervous and looks physically lightweight. Lino? Too early to tell. He has spent a long time as an understudy so was bound to be cautious. Once he gets used to being the focus, we should see the best of him. If we don't, he'll be an understudy to Rocky and that's just how it is.
As for the penalties, tired teams give away penalties. It was a sign of Leeds dominance and a natural consequence.
My main worry about this year is that I think there may be some levelling out of the teams. Salford may be poor in the end, bit of a Dads Army, but Hull KR may go better and Huddersfield should get better. I can see us scrapping it out for tenth. But new ground, new start, etc.
