I think the point was that out of both respective 21 man squads, the vast majority of yours will make up your teams across the SL season. A significant amount of ours are kids and probably won't get a game unless serious injuries occur a la last year.

Wakey will probably win and a good opportunity for Cas kids to expose themselves to first team rugby.

The only thing that tells us is that Wakefield have far greater depth to their SL squad than Cas do.

That just depends on how good the kids turn out to be.
Last year a lot of the kids wouldn't have got much game time if it hadn't been for all our injuries but such as Minikin, Springer and McMeeken all established themselves as first seventeeners.
Powell says he wants to have a look at the 2 raw young London lads he has signed in this game and it will be interesting to see what he has done with them in the few weeks they have been full time. They are both very fast and strong, Egodo played for a short spell against Hull on the wing and took his try well but Powell wants to see how he goes in the centre on Sunday.

How do you get to that? You have named your entire first team bar a couple of players but our team isn't indicative of depth. Just that we are rotating the team.

We have named a strong starting 13 but missing around 10 first teamers. I think both squads have similar amounts of depth in numbers.

I don't see anything on the Cas site to cause any vitriol... bar a couple of posts... which to be honest are tame compared to some of the stuff I read on here!

The way I see it is that we have named a 21 man outfit from entirely within our first team squad (all of whom can genuinely stake a claim for a place in our fist choice starting line up) and yet we still have 5 or so who are not named who can similarly make that claim... and at least two will be in the starting 17 for our first league fixture in February!

That's a fantastic position to be in

I see the cas line up as similar to that Leeds put out against us. .... worthy of respect but by no means full strength

There is only one player in their squad for sunday that is a "kid" i think ( mclelland?) . All the rest are first team squad members.

First team squad members with maybe 1 or 2 pro games between them. They've just been 'promoted' this year into the 1st team.

Sheesh! It's a friendly, that will have little to no bearing on either clubs season. Calm down children!

Any team with Gale and Roberts will be pretty sharp.

I know it's hard as Wakefield fans to accept but Cas have been streets ahead of us for he last 3 or 4 seasons. No matter if their squad has 7 youngsters in, they proved last year that even with injuries they have talent that can come in and do a job. Today's game will still be tough especially with 2 of our best props out. Not that d about the result as long as we come through unscathed and with players having had a hard-working 80 mins of rugby under their belt.

I'm interested to see how Huby plays. Hasn't featured so far so will be interesting to see what his fitness is like. Can he play like he used to?
