Spoke to james Elston and he said they felt that last night wasn't the night to look at the future, they wanted to give the fullest respect to the players and coaches for this year.
He goes on holiday today but look out later this week for a couple of announcements re players. (Hopefully not McGoldrick!!)

At the end of the presentations Eddie Hemmings paid a special tribute to the 5+ years that John Kear has had at Trinity. There was an accompanying video charting some of the best moments followed by a reflective interview with JK.

John was asked to return to the stage where he received a huge standing ovation which went on for some time and briefly moved JK to tears. It was a fitting display of appreciation of what JK has contributed to Wakefield Trinity. The highs of a CC Semi and Play offs, his ability to navigate the lows of our financial crisis and the way he conveyed great compassion but quiet resolve in the face of the tragic loss of Adam Watene & Leon Walker. Eddie Hemmings was genuinely moved, shocked that a departing coach could be leaving with such a rapturous show of appreciation rather than the normal derision.

The Scholarship, Academy and U20 award winners were also brought up to the stage to be recognised.

The back room staff who are leaving were given mementoes of their time at the club.

The Wakefields Got Talent winner banged out a few songs and she was very very good.

Back for Good were also excellent and probably sound more like Take That than Take That themselves.

Reception rooms were just right, enough bar staff, nice welcome from ushers and we weren't kept waiting too long before being moved into the marquee.

The venue was superb even if it did sway in the wind a bit.

Food was very nice, served quickly, hot and plenty of it.

Andrew Glover wants to make the event even bigger and better next year and a goal of 1,000 shouldn't be beyond us if this years event is anything to go by.

McGoldrick was only in attendance last night as the guest of a sponsor. MOT city (I think) sponsored some of the awards last night but also sponsor McGoldrick at Cas. Do not put 2 + 2 together and get 50.

I have been to the last three sponsors nights, last nights was the best the food was good and it was hot the caterers did a brillian job. Eddie Hemmings was a bit naff but what can you expect, the players were all celebrating, JK was moved by the reception he got and Morro was brilliant as always, hope he does say, I hear (quite a good source) hes been offered a contract but for less £££ than last year so I think he's looking at his options.

All in all it was a good night and great to be on the pitch much better than Cedar Court, hope its there next year and we are celebrating a much better year

If morro has been offered a contract for less £££ this is good business by the club. Let's not forget he was injured for a large chunk of the last 3rd of season and had a few average games through the year after starting well.

Excellent night, more like a thank you and goodbye event than a celebrate wakefield night. Who knows next year we could have the challenge cup and league leaders trophy on display. [it costs nothing to dream.

Just been informed we have won one of the items in the silent auction, either away game on team coach or golf.
