| Like it or not the tory party have an unbelievable opportunity to bring the country together while showing support to the northern areas not normally associated with the tory vote. It will require a total shift in policies and alot more arm twisting within the party.
I just can not see the Tories taking the time and effort in general but if they do and deliver they could be in power for some considerable time.
5 years to show the voters they can change and deliver., or 5 years to people of and blow it. I know were my moneys going.

You forgot to mention Scotland’s SNP leader raking in over 5 million pounds from the sale of a broadband company he had shares. Friday was the day when all things financial went sky high. Those in the establishment know how to play the money game, whatever politics they spout.

Why would they bother doing that given they've spent the last 9 years slashing and burning everything the working classes rely on yet still got voted back in, to a large extent by them?! | Actually although Cummings is an unpleasant character, he will be a positive influence on Johnson in some ways.
He isn't a Conservative and he isn't part of the posh toff Tory set. He's not the type who is trying to suck up to people to get a peerage or place in the House of Lords, he craves power and the chance to put his ideas on how the UK should be run in practice.
As he is unelected, completely willing to break the law, and willing to bully and fall out with anyone to get his way, this is a terrifying prospect. But he does also have some interesting ideas and a lot of his frustrations are on the way the traditional backscratching establishment has governed the country. Also he isn't really someone who is 'bought' by lobby groups and owes favours - he tends to be the one doing the manipulating of others.
If he gets his way, expect a lot more focus on science and innovation and a reduction in power of the old social order. He may well direct more of the Government's attention on northern communities than Cameron or May ever did, because he is also concerned with the politics of retaining power and retaining all those seats the Tories have gained.
But also, he makes a lot of enemies and it's hard to imagine him seeing through a full 5 year term in No.10 without being sacked/forced out somewhere along the line, and he will go back to his blog and tell everyone in great detail exactly how he was shafted and the gory details of Boris and his colleagues' failings as a government.

| I am no lover off politics either way, they are all disingenuine with an odd sprinkle of saying a little item we may feel is right. If you are genuine on " for the good & right " of any issues, you would get on with it - & deliver, which we would see & receive !!
However, I have noticed, which is sad, that in general, labour mp's cannot be honest to them selves that they worked against the will of people & democracy per say, in our area, we have other issues with the council & their bad behaviour so Mary suffered a double whammy & she still doesn't get it, the issues, she is blaming others & not looking at they did not want what she offered, believed, & finally she operated against the 60% that did not want her opinions, they wanted her to deliver & do her job.
Sad but she did not & still does not get that you carry out what the majority want irrespective of your own opinions ! So sad but she still cannot see this !
You have to be honest with & unto your self !

| I have voted Labour all my life and then voted Brexit.(never regretted it for a second).Consequently I have voted Tory in last 2 elections to get it implemented, as, i suspect, have a lot of people.Having said that there is zero chance that I would have voted for Corbyn this time.Had to laugh at Creagh on main news last night having a right go at Corbyn for the loss of her seat; no Mary, your failure to back Brexit cost you that, unless,of course, you forgot the 66% out vote.
Who knows if Brexit will be a success or if the Tories will continue to neglect us up here, only time will tell.

The reason they say it 60s is because they HAVE the moral superiority. How many moral practices have you seen Boris carry out in the last few months and he's supposed to be the one setting an example to us all. He appears to be an expert at lying, philandering, dodging difficult questions etc etc.

Isn't that what all politicians do best? or is that just laid exclusively at the feet of the conservatives, you need to let go redders before the bitterness eats you up.

Perhaps I'll have calmed down somewhat by the start of the new season wayne. It'll take my mind off petty things like general elections.

Sorry been out of the country since last Tuesday so only just looked at the forums tonight after getting over jet lag.
But Mary Creagh has continuously come under some pretty unfair criticism and disgusting comments made towards her over her Brexit stance, but ever since the day she was first elected, she has made it absolutely clear she was against Brexit, she has stood her ground and not wavered from her position despite all the flack. This is a very rare occurance in a politician to actually tell the truth and stick to your guns, she has been re-elected twice based on this stance (once since the referendum). Having met her a number of times on the many various projects she has supported and helped out in the districts in the last 10 years, I can honestly say she regularly and consistently has done the best for the people of wakefield and the only thing she appears to have done wrong is not support Brexit, I didn't vote this time but that's my fault, but I have always voted for the person I felt best represented what was needed in our fair city and I would have voted for her again, not because she's labour or that's I love corbyn (couldn't be further from the truth) but people mistakenly think our voting system is presidential and we're voting for our favourite leader not the person who best represents us. I doubt our Tory MP will get another term, this was clearly a protest vote, Andrew we'll have another one in 5 years.
Personally I think there should be better rules on when you have an election, this one has been ridiculous with its timing, a strangle hold over one policy Brexit, getting completed by January. But we won't get the Brexit that was blasted on the side of the big red bus, it'll look nothing like that
