Funnily enough, my local election notice got dropped through the door this morning, guess which party won't be getting my vote...?

I cannot begin to understand the full in's and out's of the Newmarket saga, or this latest set back. But we been taken for an absolute ride. We appear soft. This has gone on long enough. If we have the evidence to show wrong doing with Newmarket lets get the legal proceedings rolling. If we cannot afford the legal proceedings then it appears we are up creek. One things for certain people are absolutely fed up with this - this probably includes MC CB and the trust. Who I appreciate have worked hard to find a resolution. But realistically what's next?

A quote from the WMDC press release states:

Andrew Wallhead, Wakefield Council’s Corporate Director for Regeneration and Economic Growth, said: “The fact that the club’s owners will not consider paying a fair commercial rent alongside other tenants in a stadium owned and operated by a charitable trust in unbelievable'.

So their intention is for a charitable trust to receive (I suggest) over £100k per year from tenants, so the next question is what are the 'Trust' going to spend this money on, what costs are going to be incurred by this charity in order to justify this 'commercial' rent?

We need to know what rent is being discussed and why it isn't being accepted and where the game day income is going.
It's impossible to judge who is doing what without that detail.

I write to you with 3 hats on, as a rate payer/voter, a chairman of a community sports club and a Wakefield Trinity fan.
Regarding the latest press release from WMDC a from what can only be described at the lying tongue of Andrew Wallhead, I am the chairman of a community sports club in WMDC and as such we expected (like many other community sports clubs in the district) to benefit from the community stadium and facilities promised to the district over 5 years ago.
The citizens of wakefield were promised a community stadium funded by a developer by means of an S106 agreement, with the Wakefield community trust (registered charity) made the landlords with Wakefield Trinity being the lead Tennant paying the Community Trust a peppercorn rent, the developer was gifted land that was taken out of green belt to allow this and all was passed by the Secretary of State for community following a lengthy and costly public enquiry, it seems WMDC have forgotten this but their shady dealings are about to get exposed, I can see this going to the high courts to get sorted, so may I suggest a retroactive statement is put out to negate the original lies released earlier today.

This is getting beyond a joke, false promises year after year. Not just to Trinity but the people of Wakefield. How long can the people behind the scenes fight for the cause, constantly going round in circles. It's making my blood boil and I'm only an everyday fan. It's farcical, an absolute joke. How long till people walk away and call it a day?

Can't believe what some so called fans come out with, how people on social media can slag off mc and cb for this latest setback is farcical and should be ashamed after what they've given this club

LOL where has that bull about Thornes Park come from. You know they're making this up as they go along when they mention that, especially at the Tax payers expense.

This is a completely laughable paragraph as well. He must have completely forgotten about how we got here in the first place, things like the S106 agreement, the big Newmarket Community Development that we were promised for free etc and then after 5 years of bugger all and denial from WMDC, it all eventuallly got gradually diluted to a an upgraded Belle Vue. Obviously they think this development should be a completely different project in every aspect by the sounds of things which is some front. Rather than a continuation from the bugger up they made at Newmaket.

It was mentioned on here months ago that some negotiation would have to take place otherwise there would never be any stadium. It seems MC & Co won't budge on the original deal, whilst the other parties than can make it happen say it needs to have its own income, so we have stalemate. Without knowing what that deal is it is hard to judge whether we are purely being taken for a ride or whether it is the club playing hardball. We need this info out there if we are to get the wider public onside i'm afraid.

Put it this way i've spoken to someone tonight who is a Wakey supporter whose comment was 'So Carter want a stadium building for nowt, pay nowt to play in it and keep all the money it makes? Is he having a laugh, that isn't going to happen and neither should it' And if that is a Wakey fan then what is the general rate payer going to think, especially given our reputation isn't exactly flawless. It's now time for full disclosure of the facts here otherwise we will lose any battle before it begins.

Watching how this was unfolding from here there did seem to be some lurking shadows of ill intent!
Box was highly visible when his 'surprise' was announced... yet we have an underling wheeled out to be shot at for firing the first shots across the clubs boughs... ( in Star Trek Mr Wallhead would be wearing a red shirt)

I also got the feeling that MC was very cautious in his acceptance and guarded in his language. Council don't like him because he is honest... politically savvy... media savvy... hard nosed... but mostly they don't like him because he is honest! In what he says... what he believes and what he does!

I wouldn't want to be in this battle against him... (despite the fact I am firmly on his side)

Language of influence ... people are so programmed to being maniplulated by media and language.. and politicians have become masters of it!

The information and language battle is going to be key!

This was a clever.. if predictable move by the council to try to shift opinion...

It’s what they think they are getting, but they’ll find out themselves soon enough that the ‘perfect’ seal just isn’t viable in todays market. You’ll have noticed how it keeps getting pushed back and back? Eventually it will be ‘unfeasible’ in its current guise and changes to the HoT will have to be made if it is to happen. The advantage they have is that bit of real estate they are playing on is an area they want for housing. Expect that to be a donation to the scheme at the very least to prevent it from falling by the wayside.

It sure was and now the club is painted as the bad guy. All very predictable but a clever tactical move all the same. It is now time for clarity from this side as having the public onside is a must. Sadly just saying ‘but you promised’ isn’t going to cut it with Mr & Mrs Average of Horbury, they want to know why their council tax should be building us a stadium (which it is always portrayed as rather than a community one).

If the rent is to be paid to a charitable trust, why is it any concern of the council, as they do not get the benefit of that rent?

Or is there another Trust involved?

Around and around we go just like 20 years ago!! the club is doomed to be swallowed up now by USA influences - just let it go people!!!!!

I'm not convinced that this is the end.

Someone on the council has the dummy spit to end all dummy spits. MC is quiet publicly and the Trust members are quiet on here, other than saying they are fighting for what they've always been promised and are taking legal advice. MC has never been quiet when he feels he has been wronged. I sense some brinksmanship here and the council don't like it.

What I've learned through this whole process is that I trust MC and CB to do what is best for the long term of the club, not just sign the only deal being offered.

Makes you wonder doesn't it.

Surely these delaying tactics will push back any possible start on site date to the point where the completion deadline for the start of the 2020 season cannot be met, and then the RL will call time on us and they then, as well as WMDC, (Box) will have achieved their ultimate aim - to get rid of Wakefield Trinity RLFC.
