Will have to work out if it's worth while getting a season ticket when I see the work pattern when I start my new job, if it's not then when it comes around to the game the £20 will be a bit of a put off to me as there are travel costs etc on top of that.

But you don't have to pay £20 adam. Just buy the next games ticket when you come to each game - then it's still £18.00

I think £20 is a lot of money,think we were paying £3 in '85,the gate prices have gone up 7x,my wages certainly haven't gone up 7x.I believe rugby is pricing itself out.
We never sed to miss an away game but now only do 3 a season,£20 in,a couple of beers,petrol money,a programme nd a bite to eat,not much change from£40,multiply that for a couple or even a family of 4!
The price is one of the reasons we can't attract the "armchair" viewers,watch it in my local and you can have 8 pints for the cost of gate money.
I really think Ted and the Wakey board have to think carefully about this.

I agree with TRB's post. The initial thought is that of shock, but if you think about what the club are doing it's quite intelligent. They're trying to get people hooked on either season tickets or pre purchasing a ticket at a discounted price.

The ST therefore is very beneficial and saves plenty of cash even if some gates are to be discounted (Celtic, Quins etc). It will encourage away fans to order their ticket prior to the game and stop most from deciding on the day to give it a miss and may even increase the away following.

On the surface of it, the price looks like a raw deal because most fans like to pay on the day but we need increase ST holders and pre match ticket sales which this should do!

What we need is a 'limited' type season ticket.

There are a lot of people who don't buy a ST because of shift patterns, hols etc. If we could sell a discount 10 match ticket for instance that can be used at the games of your choice over the season I am sure it would get a good response.

But.... you could lose ST sales - so it would be self-defeating!

Or a half season ticket that you can use for any 6 or 7 matches during the season.The club get the money in advance and the fan gets a flexible cheaper option..

Thats a glass half empty view, isnt it? having more flexible tickets should bring in more money not less..

Slighty misjudged it this time I feel though. I normally stick up for the club and understand that somehow they have to raise more revenue, but I get the feeling, from a combination of those I speak to and the general fluctuation of fans & gates, that a lot of people who do attend have a very ingrained casual approach and will more likely react by not taking up the season ticket option. That would leave them paying £20, which is a jump from £18 both in % and psychologically. Most may do that, but if the product drops they may too.

I think the only sure way to really increase season ticket holders is a combination of sustained success, new stadia, and the feeling that if you don't get one you could miss out at times. As it stands, I'm just not convinced that there are enough of those factors going on to convince the casuals and persuade the apathetic population of Wakey to get on board on a regular basis.

As for the we've got used to buying tickets for away grounds argument, I'm not sure of that. What proportion of Wakey fans going away actually make that effort? I'd be amazed if it was a majority, and they are arguably the most dedicated Wakey fans who do plan a head for games rather than roll up as the weather/pub/form/next door neighbour's bbq dictates.

Our season tickets at Cas have been frozen and that should also mean the prices on the gate are frozen as well.

When i first heard about ticket prices frozen, i thought it would be season ticket and gate price, but this is Wakey and i should have known better.

I think you can buy now with interest free payments so I hope a lot will take that option.I look at it this way buy it now put it on my rewards credit card

We need people to pay it first. It takes a brave man to put prices up when attendances are on the drop.

I think they should Freeze the prices, at least untill next season, but if it is 20 pound next year so be it, I will cut down on the beer as I drink far too much any way....

I think there is VAT on tickets( I may be wrong) so buy now while it is 15% cos in January it's going back up to 17.5%. I also think it will go up again to 20%

Poor form by the club IMO - credit crunch biting, attendances down - bizarre to be fair. You can get tickets at Elland Rd cheaper than £20 - and the facilities there are incalculably superior to BV.

I just don't think it will prompt enough to buy season tickets or buy in advance, and then it will put off the occasional fan, and those are the ones we should be targetting to turn them into regular fans. I would have preferred the club to have taken a gamble and be imaginative on the concessionary prices. If we increase by 10% but cause the crowd to fall by 10%, and on our average that wouldn't be difficult, we have gone backwards come franchise time and lost money on shirts and food.

I accept it's tricky for the club though, as we've got to pay for the players, and we can't risk financial instability.

More clever would be to reduce season ticket prices and freeze gates ie give a new incentive to people to part with their cash in one lump up front.

I know a few people who pick and choose their games due to cost and lots who just cant afford it (who used to attend).

We must now be one of the highest gate fees for the poorest stadiums.
