| Like that idea very much.
A symbolic march from the old home to the new.
Meet at BV 3 hours before KO and march to NM!!
Invite local politician, old players & make a real ceremony of it. Headed by Ted Richardson, Colin Mackie, Sir Rodney Walker and TRB!
Like the idea very much.

| Quote ="Slugger McBatt"It's not the people who say that they would rather it didn't, but the ones who say that it won't and can't that I can't quite understand. Nothing wrong with opinions, and nothing wrong with banter.
I know it's been done to death, but Wakefield are willing to share a stadium, as the Community Trust are willing to let anyone who wants to play there do so. The only thing that Wakey said was that they weren't prepared to play in Castleford, in the ground that is being developed by Castleford. That would not have led to any security for Wakefield, as the club would have either withered and died, or merged. If Headingley was thought to be unsuitable (and the irony of the stadium criteria is that soon the ground of one of the top clubs will be the oldest), would you agree to play at Valley Parade along with Bradford as a permanent move? I know the distance is greater, but the principle is the same. You wouldn't, because it is in Bradford.'"
True, I wouldn't fancy dragging my all the way to Valley Parade, but I also have the same feelings about driving to IKEA with the wife! If a stadium was built, say Pudsey, then I'd have no problem sharing a stadium with anybody. I suspect that whilst the pitch is being relaid and the Southstand is rebuilt, we will be playing our first few home games at either Elland Road or Hunslet.
It's Leeds Rhinos I support, not Headingley per se. It's not the state of the art toilets, rows of shiny plastic seats , or even "the best executive balcony in SL" that floats my boat. I go to watch the guys who have the ability, and bottle to pull on my Club's colours and get out on a Rugby League pitch.
I support a team, not a bloody postcode.

So you wouldn't want to go to a rivals back yard to watch your team? Good, you can see why Trinity fans weren't happy to watch their club in Castleford.

Thats because Pudsey is inbetween leeds and bradford, if you had to play out of a stadium based in bradford it would be a different story. The community stadium at Newmarket is in the middle of the WMDC halfway between Wakefield City and cas and open to anyone who wants to use it. Cas fans will not want to play there because it's classed as Wakefield whilst we wouldn't want to be based at cas because it would be the end of the club its all about identity. Normanton would have been a good place for a shared stadium but thats gone now and we've agreed to play at the community stadium and I hope everything gets the go ahead and Trinity can move on and be successful again.

I have already posted this information on Southstander.com but as you almost spend as much time on this board as me now and are following this thread...
Uncle Garry has told me that there is no current intention to play at Elland Road at the start of 2012 season when I specifically quizzed him about the programme for the new South Stand, being generally interested in these things. The pitch is to have a full deep relay and new drainage system put in, (it's first since 1928!!!) in August next year. Leeds have asked the RFL to send them away in the gap between the semi and final of the CC and also the week before the semi or after the final. This ensures that we will have a full 4/5 week period to do the pitch work irrespective of whether Leeds are still in the CC or not. The refurbishment work to the Western Terrance (sorry guys, still no roof!) is either under way or due to start soon. This will all be done before the start of the 2011 season and will include a new full video screen/scoreboard so Sky will not need to bring their own screen.
The South Stand is going to come down as soon as the Rhinos have played their last home game of 2011 season (of course that is uncertain because of the play-offs) and Gary said that they will literally start the demolition work the following morning. The new South Stand is planned to be ready in time for the start of the 2012 season but Gary thinks they will ask the RFL to send Leeds away for the first three games of the season just in case. It is very tight programme but if they plan well and the weather is kind it will be doable. If something goes wrong then he might have to use Elland Road but that is only and emergency contingency plan.

| Brilliant idea.
A chorus of "when the Trin, go marching in" as we approach Newmarket Lane would be most fitting.

I'd make a point of looping round a certain cul-de-sac in the middle of the development if the route were up to me!
I for one would be singing extra loud at the point too! Although I would imagine our friend would have long sold up and moved on.

Why would you do that? If this is a march to our new stadium, then it should be a celebration - and just that. There is no need to mock those who, in some cases, will be genuinely upset by the events.
You would do well to remember that, just as we have a broad spectrum of supporters, there will be a broad spectrum of opponents - some would just quietly hope that this wasn't happening and a few will make a lot of noise about it - most will be somewhere in between.
Besides which, all this makes it sound like a done-deal and we should all remember that the final decision is still outside of our control and, whilst that remains the case, there remains that element, however slight, of doubt.
You have been enthusiastic in your support for this scheme, overly so at times (especially when dealing with the Cas fans), and whilst support is generally a good thing, there are times when you need to just 'reign it in' a bit! If we are succesful, these people will be the clubs neighbours and a good relationship with them, from the start, will be very important for all.

Jesus TRB don't tell me you have lost your sense of humour too.
Seems a bit contradictory when you read VT and the latest round with Fully. Is it ok for Mods to make tongue in cheek comments but not posters now?

I never accused you of going against any rules, I merely indicated that I thought it would be better to have a degree of modesty.
No rules breaches at all.
On the VT I have merely brought it to people's attentions (if they didn't already know it) that not all of that clubs promises (if any at all) come to fruition. I think Fully gets as carried away as you do sometimes - all in the genuine hope that reality will follow behind.

| With the stadium out of our hands until the end of the 28 day period (12 days to go) not like I'm counting it is probably not wise bragging to the opposition just yet, I've been a Wakefield fan for far too long and seen stadium plans come and go but this is the furthest we've been and hopefully we'll get there. This will be the making of the club thats why fans from other clubs want it to fail, Belle Vue has held us back for that long the new stadium will bring a whole new lease of life to the club and the City. I just hope and pray we get there.
