Wakefield as a club have no say as to whether the match goes ahead or not. Those decisions are for the Match Commissioner, referee and Safety Officer. Likewise the Cas club didn't make the decision it was one of, or a combination of those mentioned. Maybe that's a lesson you could learn,

The weather forecast said it would be snowing all day and it didn't no other sports event in the region was cancelled it only started snowing just before kickoff. I've never known a sporting fixture postponed just on the basis of what the weather forecast might be, the cas match was cancelled after the snow had fallen so it was an easier call. Stop being a girl.

Show me a weather forecast that says exactly where, when and how much snow is going to fall - forecasts are based on probability not certainty. Until 5pm the pitch was clear despite the forecast saying it would snow all day. At 6.30 there was maybe a centimetre or so of snow on the pitch - then just before 7 a blizzard came over that was so intense I half expected to see the Night King marching across the pitch with his army of white walkers!

If that blizzard had been just an hour later the game would have been OK.

As far as the Widnes fans who are bleating about this on their board - I presume they looked at the forecast and made their own minds up whether to travel or not.

a) The Ref and match commissioner decide on the game going ahead not the club.

b) Weather forecasts are just that, a forecast. You can't call a game off because of something that might happen. We all saw the forecast, it's up to the individual if they travel.

c) it's just unfortunate, any fan of any sport can get this.

d) The only embarrassment to the game is your bleating.

e) Cas, quite correctly, postponed there game the next day after the pitch inspection deemed it unsafe after a night of snow.

Castleford postponed the Wigan fixture because of a frozen pitch and ice on the spectator areas and approaches. Wakefield's pitch and surroundings were acceptable right up to the abandonment. Compare Wakefield doing the same two weeks earlier if you need.
The weather throughout the day around Belle Vue was nothing worse than the occasional snow shower with intermittent sunshine. I live within 2 miles of the ground and was looking out of the window throughout the day.
Wakefield got caught out by an extreme freak weather condition. Bore off! Jonno the whimp?

TBH watching the football scores coming in between 3-5 and pictures and reports of the snow coming down at various locations then it was pretty obvious it was going to hit Wakefield around that time. Weather reports I saw earlier in the day had very high probabilities of snow throughout the evening in Leeds and you're only down the road.

Jonno The Great Whinger...if you can be bothered to go back to page 6 of this thread, you will see that the weather forecast kept changing throughout the day - at 11.06am the BBC were forecasting heavy snow for 7.00 pm for Wakefield...at 11.27am they were forecasting no snow at all for Wakefield at 7.00pm.
As has been stated above, one hour before kick off there was hardly any snow at all on the pitch, it was only after 25 minutes that the blizzard started

Can't blame Wakefield for this. The match day commissioner makes the decision on calling off the game.

Funny how expert those fans that didn't attend the game and don't actually support either Wakefield or Widnes can be.
I went. Was happy with the decision to play. I was happy with the decision to abandon.
The pitch was fine. The players said they were ok with it.

So in summary. Go away.

Don't need to be an expert to see or know what the weather was like in areas not too far away in the hour or so before kickoff.

So again, don't be so sensitive as if it's an attack on the club because as has been pointed out it's the match commissioner and ref who were in charge of the decision.

Why are you even bothered, in what way does it effect you. The match official made both decisions, both were correct as unlike you he doesn't have the gift of hindsight, now give it a rest.

By the way, Cas didn't show us anything, just like the other abandoned match the other week against Hudds that got rearranged for a couple of days later. Unlike Weldon road's pitch, ours was green and ready to play on an hour before KO by which time the Widnes fans had already set off. Once everyone arrived the club did everything they could to get the game on and please the Match Commissioner but mother nature beat us. But hey don't let that get in the way of your uninformed rant and who's the sensitive one?
