As much as I liked Solomona, Big Dave is, TBH, different gravy.....

Fair play to Shudds - their line defence kept them in that; we could have been 3 scores ahead in the first half had they not muscled up.

Tense but entertaining game - won through the sheer class and brilliance of Big Dave; he's by far the best front rower in SL right now, and I really hope we can get him tied up for at least another season.

On a side note, I'm not one to bag the ref - but jesus H christ - that lad was awful.

People were chanting ‘cheat’. He wasn’t, but was clearly out of his depth and incompetent. Needs. Year or two in the lower leagues.

I chanted cheat at Huddersfield for the throwing the ball at our man, not his own incident that led to the try because cheating is exactly what that was. No intention to pass to his player. He aimed at ours. I think the rest of that chant followed on from a very bad decision, that led to a try, compounded by some other very iffy ones. I have seen him on TV many times now and he never impresses me. RL needs to look at this Ref. He didn't look up to the pace of the game to me. He almost ruined what was actually a very good game between two good end pretty evenly matched sides.

Make no mistake, that was a very good result last night. I though Huddersfield looked a very good team and had us (partly assisted by bad refereeing) on the ropes for lengthy periods. But we stuck in there. We overcame Tupou's loss, which did leave us looking a bit vulnerable on that flank, and we built to the return of Fifita to steamroller them in the last 10 minutes. Huddersfield looked quality for most of that game and I reckon their fans thought they had us. I did with 20 to go. Well played Trinity and David Fifita; awesome. I am struggling to think of a better Trinity prop in my 49 years a fan

Shudds must've been sick of the sight of Lyne last night. Thorn in their side throughout. The offload to Broughy that led to Fifita's 1st try outstanding .

Lyne’s off the cuff type of running causes havoc and was the reason Fifita scored his first try. Wish people would back him when he runs across the defensive line rather than slating him. Really annoying.

Work to do on the left edge and by the sounds of Chester’s interview a natural winger will he brought in over Easter.

Lyne is getting better and better.
Rock solid in defence, top of the tackle busts last night and second in metres.
Thought he pushed Fifita for the MoM but, there was no denying the big fella. Turned the game again in the second half and his firs try, was just superb and I winder how much Broughy enjoyed popping over the dg at the end.

BV should be packed out with that level of commitment and entertainment, plus a tense finish.

Hudds throwing the ball at our man was scandalous, the ref giving it as a penalty even more so. Seen it enough times in the past few seasons but possibly the worst yet - pretty much threw the ball towards their own sticks. The cheat chants are pretty embarrassing though to be honest, boo's I can cope with - but chanting 'cheat' is cringey and childish

Do you not think it was cheating jizzer? because I certainly do, at the highest level and as the dad of the player that had the ball thrown at him, even more so as it goes down as a penalty against him in his match stats. The cheating chants were justifiable in my eyes,shouting dirty rotten scoundrels doesn’t seem the same.

Hudds tactics around the ruck and on their own line with us attacking were questionable to say the least!

A great win again. This League has so many evenly matched teams, every game is a battle. We've coped with a weakened left edge well losing two of the comps best players. Some more big games coming up that will be close. The best aspect for me is I used to go to games with some fear. Now I genuinely believe we can beat anyone. Even with injuries. We've a hell of a squad!
I hate ref bashing and our club are good at supporting refs overall but by eck was it frustrating last night. Maybe watching back on Trinity TV might make me change my mind... We'll see. Dave gave 4 pens away allegedly and he was quick to ping us but we got held down considerably. Throwing the ball downhill to the side at Jordan is a disgrace. Goal line offsides awful. Several contentious decisions I can't wait to view. Coaching team must pull their hair out at times!
Finally, meat pie man Dave! Wow. Stop that lad if you dare...

Cheating has been around in RL since day one as you know. What’s different here and this a new low is that the refs are knowingly sanctioning cheating the key word being knowingly.

There is no excuse here, he either didn’t see it in which case he can’t give it - or - he blatantly decided in favour of an obvious cheat. He simply has no excuse and should be dropped.

That said he’s not totally at fault as this mentality comes from the top and imho the head of referees should also fall on his sword because imo he’s created this problem by cow towing to Aussie coaches.

The ref is clearly not cheating. He sees what he sees and makes a decision at speed.
Easy to be an expert afterwards.

Every man and his dog could see what Leeming did from the back of the North Stand as it happened. I do have some sympathy for the ref though because what the hell are the linesman for.

Generally you seem a fair-minded poster Mick, but I can't agree with the above statement. That's the attitude, I'm afraid that gives bad referees carte blanche to continue making terrible errors and, yes, cheating. Referees are not gods and there should be some way that enables players, club officials and fans can take them to task when they display such terrible officiating and biased decisions. The man was awful!!

Whether the player was cheating is a different thing. Most players break the rules at some stage. Going off side is in theory cheating.

Cheating for me is someone trying to win be foul means and keeping it secret like drug taking.

What I was commenting on was whether the ref was cheating. That implies he is favouring one team or player by not applying the rules on purpose.
I don't believe he did that.

I think that until we obtain a temporary specialist winger we ought to try switching BJB over to the right outside Joe and bringing Max to play alongside Reece in order to give the threequarter line a better balance, and hopefully to bring Ben more into the game for his finishing expertise. Worth a try? (No pun intended)

I was referring to Leeming as cheating and that it wasn’t at full speed like you say, even looking at the ref as he throws it,I’m sure I read that it was up to the refs discretion wether to penalise or not the play we are discussing, if so, then he’s no better .
