As much as I am a Ryan Hampshire fan - First and foremost I am a Wakefield Trinity fan.
The club is more important than any one player - whoever it is - whether that be TJ, Big Dave or anyone else.

League Express saying that Escare is definitely NOT coming....due to us signing Walker and "budget restrictions".

TBF nobody ever said Escare was anything but a loan signing. We have two good FB's in Walker and Jowitt, I don't think it's so much budgetary as positions now filled.

None the less thanks to Escare who certainly did his bit.

Thanks for the insight DC and appreciate that a lot of juggling will take place when it comes to balancing the squad, books and salary cap.

No player, coach, and even chairman is bigger than the club. On thing that will always remain, is the club, its colours, badge and what it stands for.

As 3 pivotal players have gone, in Rocky, Randell and Reynolds, it would be good to see some of these pivotal positions being replaced. Neither Milky or Broughie were in the form of their lives in 2019, and what would the solutions be, if either, or both suffered lack of form, or long term injuries next year

Further onto what Tricky posted though too, regarding Brough, is that we have also brought back Atkins, and given Kirmo a role as a player/coach. It would be interesting as to how much these actually play in 2020, and then see where their value with the club lay

We know Randall’s replacement is the third choice hooker from Salford and I suppose Pitts will be the next signing. These are the known none of which cover our half backs therefore it is the two possible unknowns I guess are of the most interest. I believe the club stated that the two additional signings will be subject to the finances so let’s hope they have included these in the budget for next season.
I did think Brough was a mistake and yes I still do looking at last seasons performances. I thought two years was not necessary because he did not have a lot of options open to
him. He will need to improve because currently we are pinning an awful lot of trust in his performances. I know Miller can play well for us because he has but the 36 year old Brough is still to do so. He was brought in to manage the game and win the close battles. The majority of our losses were by quite a large margin and I cannot think of many close games we won, Warrington at home and Castleford away being two.

Yep, with you on that one, FMC, but I think some were hoping we may be able to get him to replace Rocky, with his utility value ??
Like you say, he did his bit, but now we need to look elsewhere.

Just to throw a name out there, Jarrod Samutt has been offered to a SL club . Seems Wigan want shut, or allow him to pursue other options.

It’s not been done in the correct manner for me but if he’s had a long hard look and rethink and thought...ya know what...there’s not a long line of clubs fighting to sign me...let’s swallow a bit of pride, apologise for the mess it’s become and come to some sort of deal...

We’d be the missing a trick social media wise if he wasn’t dressed up working in a butchers when a piece of paper was handed over for him to sign!

On Brough...maybe he wouldn’t sign for just a season so we had to offer him two to get it over the line? To a lot of people it looked a decent coup...we looked to be just short of that big game player with a very good kicking game to turn those close defeats into wins...for the first ten rounds with a fully fit squad it was working...we went 3rd...the only question marks were over his temperament with the yellow cards...on that score for the rest of the season...despite clear frustrations he managed that side of his game well.

He then picked up the injury...nothing whatsoever to do with his age I might add...he then came back into a struggling side decimated by injuries with a broken pack being led by Fifita on one leg! When we brought fresh bodies in and got some go forward again, low and behold Brough started looking a better player again!

Even at his age I think he could still be a real asset next year if we manage to not have as much bad luck with injuries and get our go forward and strike players out on the park...

In an ideal world and if all figures can be worked I’d love to see Hampshire there in place ready to take over from Brough at the end of next season...

But the Hampshire has sailed I'm afraid. No one is turning that one round.

I did think it was over tbf, not very often you see this type of U-Turn when it was already announced by the club that he had been released.
