| Newcastle lost 88-12 today vs Sheffield..
It’s going to be interesting next week… fair play to Newcastle players though.

I would love to see us in the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley but, with the new IMG grading points, it's a no brainer to throw everything at the 1895 cup, which is a bit sad really (this applies to all lower league clubs. The "rules" effectively mean that the Challenge Cup is never going to be won by a side from the lower leagues.

To the best of my knowledge it has never been won by a team from the lower leagues.
But the 1895 allows a team from the lower leagues to play at Wembley.

Possibly so, but if they do or not has nothing to do with the 1895 Cup.

That's unbelievable.
It would be great to become the first club in history to win the Challenge Cup from The Championship but, sadly, it's not worth the gamble.
However highly the odds are stacked against the lower leagues, it's a pity that there isnt provision for any club that could make it to both finals, even if winning the Challenge Cup from the Championship is "impossible".
It doesn't help these days when the SL clubs are "protected" by coming into the cup so late.
Surely this takes away the "romance" of the comp ?

The final 4 lower league clubs will join the 12 super league clubs shortly. With an exceptionally fortunate draw that could see 2 lower league clubs advance to the last 8 then another similar piece of luck put 1 in the last 4. Last thing we want is missing out on 1895 final by joining Saints, Wigan and Catalans in the CC Semis.

Sadly, The Challenge Cup is the "impossible" dream from The Championship, mind you, we've not done too well from the top flight either.
Nowadays, with the SL clubs entering the cup so late, the odds are just too much against any of the lower league clubs.
We'll have to keep hold of a Challenge Cup Final appearance / win till next season

I know there’s a grading issue attached to the games.. but, as a fan… I would much rather a Challenge Cup semi final than an 1895 cup final.

Not just a grading which is crucial on it's own. Also a chance to see our team probably win at Wembley versus a probable loss at Doncaster, Huddersfield or some other neutral local stadium. Memories of semis v Hull and Warrington.
There really is no comparison imho

Yes.
I barely dare to dream about standing in Wembley after a cup win, singing the songs and enjoying what can often be once-in-a-lifetime experience.
I'll take the 1895 thanks.

I agree.....once.
I'd like to see us at Wembley so 1895 would be great but once we've done it I'd rather be competing in semi finals and challenging the big boys.

| Wakey was firmly in charge in the opening 30 minutes or so quickly going into a 12-0 lead, followed by about 10 minutes of poor play and errors. Still, the defence has been solid and Barrow hasn't looked like scoring, in fact, I can't remember them within 10 meters of our line. Then Griifin popped up for the try just before the halftime hooter to make it 18-0. Not the greatest game but the ball looks very slick in hand, so no wonder there's been handling errors in this crap weather. Hopefully, Powell will put them right like against Siddal and we can pull away and finish the game more clinically this half.

| Barrow finally get the try they deserve. I bet the Fev coach sat in our stand can see his side beating this rabble next week regardless of how the game developes as Barrow tire.

| Awesome start to the half from Wakey, not. Both teams are playing like the balls a bar of soap. Wakefield need to pull their fingers out here.
Atoni finally finishes a move-off in their 10 meters for a change. We seemed to have tried to barge our way over every time we've got down there this second half instead of going for a kick, which has been strange from us from what I've seen so far this season. There must have been about 4 or 5 times Barrow has started from nearly their line after we've not finished our sets off in their 20 properly.

| Pratt losing the ball on that 1st tackle from the restart eventually gets punished as Barrow score again.
Wakefield are actually playing to hang on.

Thank God for Renouf Atoni with 2 try’s
Barrow got their 2nd try because Trinity didn’t play to the whistle, basic elementary stuff

| This performance has generally looked like one of a team that's played a few too many easy games, although the weather hasn't helped for good RL, still not to our usual standard. As Powell said in the week we probably could have done without that many and a couple more against opposition in our league to get us more ready for the season. Anyway things to work on and we'll have got more out of this game, although it was all a bit subdued at times and lacked a bit of intensity IMO, than a walk over, onwards and upwards.

| Barrow never gave up and their kicking game both from restarts and in play was superior to ours I thought. One or two of our guys really need to up their game for next week.
